  • this musix is so relaxingt to the ears and brings back loads of memories

  • This was one of the first ever songs I recorded on my cassette rcorder. Is it just me, am I showing my age, or is this just so much better than the violent aggressive stuff on now?

  • @romanbrough I could not agree with you more those were the good days when music was music, not the crap we have to listen to today. I loved my cassette recorder.

  • I gotta say its a terrific song. I remember thinkin a guy went missing when I watched it live all them years ago. Now I see the proof. Bless him!

  • wonderful to hear this song, every time i do reminds me of my brother edward flynn, who sadly died 5 years ago, but we have wonderful memories of eddie doing a great version of this on stage. love and miss you. ju. x

  • ahh i feel for the guy in the middle who doesnt know the moves/or forgets them! must be terrifying if your not brimming with confidence! dont take the piss, he tried! how would you do in his place! at least he had a go! great tune all the same

  • @gonkerooney The guy you refer to was my uncle Rodney. He stood in for a band member who was taken ill. He said he was as nervous as hell, as he was an undertakers assistant from Derby. He toured with the group for the rest of theyear then left and joined Black Sabbeth.

  • @slickmicky54 hi, well give rodney my regards hes a better man than me! i`d die a thousand deaths in front of an audience let alone cameras! and ive got no talent lol

  • @slickmicky54 hope he did better with the heavy metal lol

  • wow this is great, i've only heard the record before. i love this song, it's the first time i've seen the tams, the raw sound and the guys look great. and rip ALAN, i'm from manchester, god bless , now you'll be with me forever too when i hear this song.

  • Made me smile 1971 wow brings back memories, of fairground I was 11yrs old . Thanks 4 posting this song . :-)

  • i have this single

  • this is some funky ass shit

  • Did they use a big comedy shepherd's crook to haul the middle guy off, or..,. How did they get him off stage without everyone going "Whuuh"? It's still a mystery to me :)

  • First heard this at the Rollereana now Yorkshire TV Studios in Leeds in 1971, showing off speed skating and breaking the odd ankle or two, happy days...

  • Tams > Temptations

  • Think I was approx 14 at the time...we did the dance routine in my bedroom eek x

  • Thanks Thanks Thanks.

How Much have i surch the Song. Thanks.

  • you dont get songs like this anymore.

  • Is the lead singer still alive. Isnt that Joe Pope, he has such a soulful voice. I hear a song on the radio some, I think the Tams do call to much fooling around but not enough lovin. Does anyone know if they recorded that song and if so anyone got it to post, I would love to hear it.

  • @atp1962

He died in 1996. The video says that @1:08

  • Is one of these Tiny's (TI's wife) dad?

  • @WawieFru u mean Tiny from Xscape..yes her father is in this group

  • I used to hear this record everywhere I went during the late 70's early 80's at the Mod and Soul nights they were good times!!!

  • Brings back some great memories of soul nights and mod nights I used to hear this everywhere....Fantastic!!!

  • Like someone else said. They had four backup singers and then go to 3. One guy didn't know what he was doing and skipped out right in the middle of the song.

  • My friend AlanYoung from the Bluebell estate in Huyton Liverpool died tragically at the time this song was number 1 in the charts and it was his favourite song,

And every time i hear it "Youngy" is with me,

God bless you lad you were 16 but the Tams will keep you rockin in heaven kid,

Alan Young RIP missed by the Bluey gang.

  • Music does bring back memories. Great song.

  • Aww, what happened?

  • @MurrintownLad Your friend would be my age. I was 16 when this was in the charts and dancing around to it in a youth club in Portsmouth. A great way to remember your friend. RIP Alan

  • @MurrintownLad that gave me goosebumps my husband and my son both get called youngy, so sad to hear about your friend though

  • It does appear that the middle backing singer of the three who disappears at some point may have been indulging in too much BBC hospitality beforehand. No offence, though, if someone know the true story and he was ill or something.

Great song and what oufits. I may turn up in work in simialr fashion next week...

  • Great group, they worked as hard at a venue with 400 people as one with 1500.

    You always came away energized.

  • hey thats tiny's father from the group exscape!

  • What would we do without top of the pops.........priceless footage of better days!! Can't believe how long ago. it was.

  • Joe has a group voice, that really works for beach music. The Tams are a great band

  • this song and the song Saturday Night At The Movies remind me off my aunt Helen Price! Long story! I love those songs! i kind of I grow up around them!

  • was in first year at High Scool when this came out,,loved it then and till do thanks!

  • interesting words

  • big tune on the feast thank you

  • Excellent.

  • That's priceless. A good idea of cover would be doing the answer song of that. Hey Boy Don't Bother Me !

  • Wow what a treasure...I still follow The Tams to this very day...they still are a fantastic group...miss Joe and lil Redd filling in the shoes nicely

  • What was the name of the guy that disappeared?

  • ¨Fantastic!!!

  • Thanks for posting - Brilliant!

  • A little trivia. The Tams had been # 1 for 3 weeks when TOTP finally got the go ahead to fly them over for an 'in studio' appearance.

Unfortunately the record dropped to # 2. The producer decided to include them anyway. Probably the first time a record going down the chart featured on the show.
