Also it was stated that if there was a sequel that they would have different heroes in it in relation to how in the comics the avengers roster does change from time to time. So if they do have a sequel they could have spiderman but they shouldnt because they haven't even added the other original members yet.

1st of all, the blue glowing weapon refers to something they show in one of the teasers where they talk about an infinite power source--I think this is that source put into weapon form. 2nd, I think it's either been said or hinted that the enemy is not alien--it's Loki, probably with the infinite power source he keeps using throughout the trailer, threatening Earth.
@gelvispro Thats not what I think, it's what I thought I read years ago when it happened. What was it then? I've always known it to be that he asked for too much and wanted to change/write some of the script like he did with the Incredible Hulk. He was a perfectionist so rewrote the Incredible Hulk to how he liked it, then fell out with the director of that film when alot of the stuff he wrote wasnt in the final cut. That want for more control and money is what I've always known it to be....?

We KNOW he wanted alot of creative control in the Incredible Hulk - and he got it, rewriting the script, adding scenes, making changes etc - and that film obviously didnt do aswell as hoped. @jesse10022 It's been known that it is definitely a race of Aliens that Loki has got behind him. All the set pictures show stunt guys in motion capture suits holding Alien weapons. Yes it's wishful, but it's also very likely to happen, I mean, Thor took on Loki alone, why would a whole team be required. @Deathwisher2894 This time round, it's because they tried to get Ed Norton on board, and he was like "Ok, but I want to rewrite the script so that I'm the most important" which is how the 1st Hulk got ruined. Whedon said "No," Norton said "Well I'm not doing the movie then" and Whedon said "Ok, it's about the big green CGI guy, not you. So bye." That's the long and short of it.
@Deathwisher2894 Eric Bana played him in Ang Lee's version, but since Marvel wanted to completely redo it with a new cast and director, he was replaced by Edward Norton (my favorite, personally, by far)...however, when it came to Avengers, the studio and Norton couldn't come to an agreement on his fee for the movie (he wanted more than they were willing to pay with such a large A-List cast and special effects budget), so they chose to replace him with Mark Ruffalo.

Edward Norton is a better actor to play the Hulk, this new guy doesn't really fit the role quite well...and I agree with the top comment guy, why do they keep changing Bruce Banner (Hulk's character) so damn often, it's confusing to us!! should have just stuck with Norton again, he is a great actor and played the role of Hulk very well!

@iclark2400 Really? People who have seen proper footage screened at D23, NYCC etc say he's the best yet and the only one to capture the character like he was meant to be from the comics. The 2003 film was not in this universe so doesn't count - that was made by Universal. This is only the first recast of this version of Bruce Banner..I'm sure one recast wont really confuse many people..

1st of all, the blue glowing weapon refers to something they show in one of the teasers where they talk about an infinite power source--I think this is that source put into weapon form. 2nd, I think it's either been said or hinted that the enemy is not alien--it's Loki, probably with the infinite power source he keeps using throughout the trailer, threatening Earth.

@gelvispro Thats not what I think, it's what I thought I read years ago when it happened. What was it then? I've always known it to be that he asked for too much and wanted to change/write some of the script like he did with the Incredible Hulk. He was a perfectionist so rewrote the Incredible Hulk to how he liked it, then fell out with the director of that film when alot of the stuff he wrote wasnt in the final cut. That want for more control and money is what I've always known it to be....?

@gelvispro Well they're not going to say, he wanted too much control in an official release are they. We KNOW he wanted alot of creative control in the Incredible Hulk - and he got it, rewriting the script, adding scenes, making changes etc - and that film obviously didnt do aswell as hoped. No doubt Marvel felt he would do the same with the Avengers which would just create trouble wanting that much creative control when being part of an ensemble.

@jesse10022 in the movie Loki says I have an army, set video shows thor & cap fighting guys in mo-cap suits, pictures of those mo-cap guys with alien looking guns and ship-like objects, the fact that in the trailer the heroes are always looking into the sky. It could very well not be the skrull but expect something similar, skrulls are the best guess so far.

@jesse10022 It's been known that it is definitely a race of Aliens that Loki has got behind him. All the set pictures show stunt guys in motion capture suits holding Alien weapons. Yes it's wishful, but it's also very likely to happen, I mean, Thor took on Loki alone, why would a whole team be required. We KNOW that there is an Alien race behind him, Tom Hiddleston who plays Loki has CONFIRMED this...

@rjgears the amazing spider-man is coming out right after that so they didnt want it to get mixed together and most likely the wasp and ant-man will introduced into the series somehow also marvel studios has a history of keeping the characters seperated, fantastic four two is a prime example because alot of marvel characters is supposed to attend the wedding of sue and reed(prof.x,spider-man among others)

@BZLentertainment -- To be fair, Wolverine was not in the original line-up (I think) -- release history, as in...in the very first lineup mentioned in a story. Historically, being a little older than Cap, he is likely to have played a role in its formation. :-)

@sierra087 (@BZLentertainment) -- I would have loved to see Wolverine, too! :D But - and I think, this is sadly a greater factor - Wolverine (and X-Men) movie rights are owned by Fox, while this is a movie by Marvel/Disney and Paramount; all the characters featured have appeared in earlier movies by Marvel and Paramount.

@BZLentertainment It really isn't. Wolvering wasn't in the original line-up, and really only ever got passing roles. He's in the X-men, remember? Besides, I think that Thor, Cap, IM, Hawkeye, BW, Hulk and Fury have enough awesomeness between them to make up for any loss that not having Wolverine gives them.

@Deathwisher2894 This time round, it's because they tried to get Ed Norton on board, and he was like "Ok, but I want to rewrite the script so that I'm the most important" which is how the 1st Hulk got ruined. Whedon said "No," Norton said "Well I'm not doing the movie then" and Whedon said "Ok, it's about the big green CGI guy, not you. So bye." That's the long and short of it.

@Deathwisher2894 Eric Bana played him in Ang Lee's version, but since Marvel wanted to completely redo it with a new cast and director, he was replaced by Edward Norton (my favorite, personally, by far)...however, when it came to Avengers, the studio and Norton couldn't come to an agreement on his fee for the movie (he wanted more than they were willing to pay with such a large A-List cast and special effects budget), so they chose to replace him with Mark Ruffalo.
