It's quite easy to feel bad for a seal pup, but what about snakes? People decapitate snakes, and since they take a while to die, their heads are on the ground, their mouths opening and closing. What a way to die.

who hunt seals during the off season of fishing. It contributes to less than 20% of their

yearly income. Its been documented time and again that it is not necessary for the fishermens

sirvival, its just an off-season pass time for them. You are right in that some people in many situations

don't have a choice, but in this case, theres just no excuse for them to be doing this.

My entire food budget is less than thirty dollars a week. And actually I'm not ignorant, I've given speeches about the hunt before.

The hunt is subsidized by the government.

The fishermen could get that extra needed income by selling their licenses back to the government.

The government should buy their licenses and pay them what they would have earned in a career of sealing.

@meru61 an individual is not the same as others. there are some people who are not very qualified to do other jobs and can only find this as the only job that they can do. remember, this was 2 years ago and according to news articles online they were in a BAD RECESSION. I think they're improving and their workforce increased a little...but it's not enough. Of course they can quit from their jobs if they want to but it would be a difficult to find another. I feel sad for both sides.
