Anyone that isn't impressed with this instrument either hasn't really "Played" this piano, or isn't accomplished enough TO play this piano... I've had 7 acoustic grands. I currently (and always will) have a Steinway Concert Grand and have owned a Roland V for over a year now.... The action, feel, lightening quick response, crisp trebles and earth pounding bass notes rival my Steinway!!... I am more than elated with this piano!!! Also.... That photographer should be hung by his short ones!! Ge
Why didn't Roland just record the direct output from the piano. After all it's digital, why not make use of its best feature compared to a real piano: Being able to record it's sound without interruptions from photographers or the audience.
am I the only one that thinks this v-piano skcs? it is just lame... and I really like roland.. just dont understand how such a bad product can be so expesive and mitified ...
Why would you even want a photo of somebody playing that butt-ugly contraption? It seems a bit ironic you would hire a photographer to an event that is centered around something so unappealing.
...and this is why only mirror free, non-SLR, Leicas were allowed in courtrooms.... They probably just hired someone off the "wedding photographers" ad board. Live & learn; you ruined a beautiful video recording. Does anyone know where the stills are posted? Wouldn't it bee a hoot to see they were all out of focus and mis-framed! lol
I used to believe that there was a place for the digital piano as a tool for education, engagement, and overall value in the pianistic traditions; however, the acoustic piano would always remain at home on the concert stage. Today, I believe Roland has changed that perspective for me. The V Grand is truly remarkable and IS an instrument, not an emulation of something greater.
@ebpianodude jep i agree. being a drummer I don't have trained ears but after your comments I started listening to it and yes, the middle section sounds a bit digital. However, some of this can be because of the bad recording and the compression on Youtube.
I have to say the V-Grand sounds quite convincing to me. Overall, it is the most honest reproduction of an acoustic grand that I've heard in any digital piano, including the AvantGrand N1 I own!
@sdphotos This has nothing to do with amateur or pro. If they want room reverb, the mics are in the audience and anyone coughing, talking, laughing or photographing will be heard. I agree though, it's anoying.
I always wonder what holds people back from being this good. Everybody has the capacity for brilliance, and I hope one day people can be free to open up and let themselves be as good as this amazing woman.
in answer to your question one might quote the film Waking Life and ask : "What is the most common of human characteristics? is it fear, or laziness?"

I played a Roland V-Grand Piano at Amro in Memphis, TN, and I really wasn't all that impressed with it.

She should have played topless then we'd stop complaining about the camera guy.

what's that joke? sounds like someone in the audience is trolling the quiet parts with a typewriter!

It sounds a bit closer to an acoustic piano but the middle section still sounds too "digital" to me.
