@100gunmaker Hello, I would not download anim8tor but a 3D CAD program where you can actually enter dimension and scale things appropriately. I would strongly recommend Solidworks, this program is one of the industry leaders in 3D CAD modeling. You can model almost anything in solidworks, see my other video to see a model of this Go-Kart in solid works.

HAHA! I have an engine that looks to be pretty similar to that one. Its in a video I just posted. I used it as a size comparison to a Wisconsin I am planning on using in a project. It is dwarfed by the Wisconsin though! What that project is going to be, I am unsure of yet. Go-Kart, Motorbike, Racing Lawn Tractor?
I am worried about my suspension and steering. I'm afraid if i hit pothole (which is very common on roads in my country) my kart will fall apart and i'll get injured.
@MrHeavysteel Hmmm my go kart and most of the plans you find on line are for street go karts that are meant to be driven fast on a track. I drive mine around the neighborhood every now and then but I dont go faster than 30mph because everything starts to shake lol. You should check out these DIY dune buggy type karts, they are a lot more expensive to build (5000-7000$) but use motorcylce engines! These karts are super fast and have plenty of suspension.
hundreds of dollars is correct.. that clutch alone looks like a 200 dollar one. ever think of modifying the carb. to run on alcohol? Dont ask me i dont know how. from what i hear it makes more HP and keeps the engine cooler, cleaner burn, but the mpg sucks.
@thtsjon4u Your completely right ive read that people who run methanol in their engines take them appart and they look like they have been "washed" on the inside. An engine that runs methanol produces much more power but at the cost of a 33% higher fuel consumption (i think thats right). The high volume of fuel your burning also serves to cool the engine significantly better over gasoline engines. The only problem is that I dont know where to get methanol, gasoline is much easier to access

@TheCanadianTraceurs Hey so basically the type of steering system I used is I think is called pit and tie rod. Its super easy, all you have to do is google go kart steering. Rack and pinion systems although they provide a greater mechanical advantage are expensive and harder to find for go karts. Your better off using a pit and tie rod system.
I guess the best way to go about it is to research a bunch about go carts until I know enough about the mechanics and all that so I can build it without plans?
@bigmac364 Basically what I did was look at a crap load of cart pictures so I could get a good idea of how they were designed and then I drew up my own drawings in a CAD program. Just a not you need to have alot of patience for something like this becasue it takes a crap load of time lol. Also you nearly always run into problems where a part you designed doesnt fit or something so you need to be able to adjust accordingly. You need some basic metal working tools and a mig welder. @bigmac364 Parts I got all on ebay. If you are interested in putting a honda engine on there check out: affordable go karts.com, nrracing.com, and arc racing.com. These are some really good sites with countless upgrades that will give you the most bang for your buck!! I would recomment the super box stock kit. It gives you about 14hp for under 500 dollars. I have another video where I talk all about how to build a super box stock engine. GOOD LUCK!!

I dont think honda makes any flat heads but I could be wrong, I know briggs has a devoted group of flat head users. This honda clone is what the majority of go kart users drive b/c its cheap and reliable! The clutch I found on ebay actually I think its a small company out of the midwest that makes it.

Hello! Sorry I dont remember if I answered your question or not but here it is again. The clutch I used for my go kart is a 3 disk revolution racing go kart clutch that I bought on ebay for like 100 dollars. These 3 disk clutches are great because they handle large amounts of horsepower and torque well. 3 disks spread the force along three disks so you get better grip. Thats what ive read anyway, but hope that helps!
