I admit I am a fan of Rod myself, but Ron is one of the Coolest & Slickest Guys in music history!! And for a Man nearly 70 years old is still maintaining his fame and popularity!! Haven't heard the Isley brothers versions but I guess Rod's particular voice complements the lyrics with that little touch of suffering the character in the song is supposed to feel. Excellent song and excellent version in my opinion.

Oh God, I loved this song when it was released in '89. I liked the Isley Brothers version too but this version tops 'em all, as it combines aspects of both versions. I was only 10 y/o when it came out. I always liked the fact that Rod S invited Ron Isley into the production as he was the first singer to record this song along with his brothers many years before. This version is good as it is a modernized version of the original that payed it's respects to the original.
