Karate champion Joe Lewis stated that in the old days, all the Okinawan Karate masters were also Judo black belts. Royce Gracie probably won those early UFC fights because not many martial artists in the 80's and early 90's were adding Judo into their arsenals the way they did in the old days.
are you sure it was appropriate to finish your video with a photo of kimura kimuring helio gracie? I t s not really respectful , im a bjj practionner and i like judo too but please respect both.
Put credit where it is due. Kosen Judo = Origin of BJJ. Rickson said in his book that the japanese held back on teaching and taught only the basics because they were non-japanese and thus had to learn and evolve the art on their own. Helio did improve it, But he did not invent it. ALL of it is still from Kosen Judo. The Gracies didnt know the Triangle (sankaku jime) choke existed and only learned it in 1960 -1970
It seems that the people who do something for a long time always have to deal wth new FADS. BJJ is a prime example. If you really know about BJJ and truly are good at it. This comment is not for you. If you just think you know something, look up Mitsuyo Maeda. Paying all due respect to his excellent students Hélio and Carlos Gracie. Marketing geniuses Rorion Gracie and Dana White.

I am a bjj brown belt.... and I love Judo, I tell my bjj friends that at the top level of Judo Newaza they are like elite bjj guys.
Judo is an amazing tough beautiful art.
I now train Judo to improve my throws in BJJ and this has given me a massive advantage to get to the top position.
Thanks for the vid.

wait a minute...
pulling guard? knee on belly?
someone must have made a mistake. We all know that some Gracie invented grappling, most likely in the 70s.
