I just LOVE it when rich people obsessed with fashion trends take on a style of dress pioneered by poor people who can't afford to give a shit about what they wear or are completely anti-fashion and call it "bohemian"... See the irony there? Because that flannel shirt Kate Moss is wearing was $1000.
I shopped at thrift stores before they were cool. However, it's getting to the point where I don't want too anymore as they've all raised their prices. I remember when you could get a pair of jeans for like 25cents and now it's $25. F that .
i shop at value village, its a canadian good will store, i get patterned sweaters and button ups for under 10$ each, grunge and hippie styles are completely out of fashion. these days teenagers are so trendy, wearing designer clothes and everything labeled. personally, im starting to wonder if society will ever experience another counter culture like the 60's or the 90's. i would do anything to be a teenager in the 90's, im so disgusted with my current generation.
i hate that shit i always wear flannels but now in my school people wear them cause its cool and they tell me shit cause im suposeibly being in a trend and im like i always wear this cause its comfortable if anything you bastards are the ones that are into a trend
this is what killed grunge, grunge is not a label, grunge is where u say "u know what, fuck you, i dont give a shit if i look good, ill were MY clothes so i dont become a clone like everyone else in the world" and since its been labeled as a fashion style, its just totally ruined REAL grunge, i think i just died alittle inside
@simmyguitarman quit being a baby...it has gone down in recent years so you can be happy again...we all can...to be honest with you i still where my flannel shirt, ripped jeans, and pearl jam shirts everyday...the funny thing is people look at me weird because of my "style" and it makes me feel good...grunge is underground again
the whole point of all that crap was that it was cheap. back in the late 80's ud buy a flannel shirt 4 a buck but once it became the fashion it was 40$ a shirt. so stupid
wow, I thought i was the only grunger in the olde world.... hahaha- since we're talking about sell-outs- I kind of feel like a sell-out while watching this. Milk the machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lmao thatz what i love about grunge we dont go main stream it comes to us you wana be grunge flannel wearing idiots take off you flannels and go tell your mama to slap you for being so stupid. Grunge Rockz!
i love it! i am so glad when Wall street tried to cash in on so called grunge! people like her played these assholes like a fiddle! and by the way rock and rolls last hoo rah was the Seattle bands of the early 90s! they where great. and in 2010 there really is no rock and roll any more just a hand full of bands who play some good music!
@tommyfuller103 but once again i think history is repeating itself. in the 80s everything was so electroinic and fake, and in 91 it went straight back to 3 guys with guitars. now, everythings hip hop or pop bands trying to pass as punk, but some band will come along soon and put everything back to the way it was... i hope..
I think some of you here don't know anything about FASHION. It's a PERSONAL STYLE. Everyone has their own style. If you don't want to comb your hair and just wear a simple shirt then that makes it your style. It was 'in' in the 90s because a lot of rock stars were having the same style; flannels, chucks, etc etc. So MANY people wear the same outfit because they like it. And therefore it's a fashion.
i thought grunge wasnt ment to be a fashion? its ment to be an "effortless" attemp to dress. its kinda mad how the big companys soak up everything and try to sell it back to us and make money from it. pritty mad. i have a check-shirt, and i love pearl jam, but i dont think i have "grunge wear" or what ever the hell that is?
Calling it "fashion" is an excuse to dress lazily, listen to whatever kind of music you want and have a reason for it. It's the most grunge thing of all.
i wear grunge clothes cause their cheap. it kinda happened by accident, i live in the pacific northwest and shop thrift alot and i ended up with a style that others called grunge
Hell is this all that grunge meant a fashion trend i mean come on i wear old jeans and flannel tshirts becuse im saving up for a new guitar ,not becuse i wanna folow the posers who sell mainstream
@ganado12 yea it was... specially the economy booming. Great loans, businesses thought to go ahead with new ideas and not be afraid to try anything. As of Grunge I still have my HOW ARE YOU? t-shirt from the 90s :) RIP KURT COBAIN!
@ganado12 So fucking right bro. When I was in college in the early 90s grunge wear was what I wore long before it became a fashion. I miss Kurt, Layne and Andy and I can't help but look back and see how good life was back before Iphones and shit. Life was simple and meaning was every thing.
It's 2009 if there are actually people still subsiding to the "grunge fashion" it would be very hard to call them posers. You could really only call them idiots. Grunge was a ridiculous word for a fantastic music scene. Too bad the media fucked it all up.
@inutero10 The media fucks up EVERYTHING. Now, emo = goth? emo = punk? anti-fashion = fashion? Okay. The media twists everything. At least there are still some people that aren't brain dead that know the fucking difference between reality and "what they want you to think".
Unfortunately grunge was replaced by "Alternative" rock, but all people that knows what "grunge" means, knows that GRUNGE IS NOT DEAD!!!! And all the shit that is sold with the tag "grunge" is just garbage!

i wear clothes what i found on floor in my room, i don't wash my hair often, because then hair is all fluffy and shit,i try to wrote songs with chords what ani't banal, when i sing my voice sounds pretty "grunge" because i drink and smoke a lot ...so called "grunge" is more like a natural way of life for me...fuck all posers
Whats fucked up is that the movement was about being your self and not being a phony asshole. Hell I wore flannel because it was cheap also. All of a sudden you see all of rich ass phonies wearing the clothes to seem like they were all about grunge. Kurt was telling us that when he wrote In Bloom, a lot of assholes missed the point. The minute it was over they got rid of their flannels. Hell I still have mine and they stil look good. It just goes to show the world is as phony as a 3dollar bill.
Grunge was more about not caring instead of "fashion" and that kind of shit but then a whole bunch of fucking marketers had to make it such a trend, losing the whole meaning of grunge in the first place
It's fucking hilarious how mainstream america took their fashion cues from blue collared/working class America....especially how so closely it resembles to REDNECKS. Long johns, flannels, ripped jeans, bandannas, work boots, chain wallets..you took your fashion from people who don't have a lot of fucking money and wear this because it's cold.
The irony. Oh well...I still sport the 'grunge' look and not to look cool its because I live in the south and we've ALWAYS looked like that.
I hate the way people are trying to pull this "grunge=the new prep" bullshit now. Grunge fashion was never supposed to be marketed towards a bunch of rich newport brats.
Funny thing, in Northhampton Mass, the flannel look was called "Prol" short for proletariat. It meant you worked, and you didn't sell out and blah... What the fuck is "Grunge-wear"?
It's just comfortabe clothing, and like SeanGoatboy said, it's just what the majority of working class America wear . .
It's cold there, and it's fucking cold in England too.
If this is believed to be otherwise, then I'm a dedicated follower of fashion.
