It's one of the unlockable cars. Can't remember what exactly you have to do to unlock it. It's either beat a track record in time trial or complete one of the championships. There are 2 possibilities even to obtain one because I seem to remember there being 2 Toyota GT1's in the game. However, I also seem to remember only being able to actually drive them in the Le Mans 24h race and not on any of the other tracks (at least not in a race, maybe time trial).
@AnalAmoebe , There are 3 Toyota GT One's in the Game. One From 1999 and 2 from 1998. For One Toyota you need to win the 24 Hours racing, i guess. That takes forever ;D
But I did that too. This video is from that very 24 hours race in real time, btw. I've got every single car unlocked, it's just been a while since I fired up the Dreamcast so I guess I forgot the specifics.
@Catscan93 Someone who was 17 competed in Le Mans this year because he was really good at Gran Turismo 5 and got offered the chance to race for real so :P
@MegaMrDamo Fair enough. But there were thousands of people who entered that competition and didn't get the Le Mans drive, and as a result failed their exams because they didn't study :P

Unrealistic physics compared to the sim-racing I do now, but for a console, this game captured the immersion of Le Mans fantastically. I remember playing through the entire 24 hour event with each of the classes (can't remember the cars I chose, just the Porsche for the GT2 class).

2. Yes, I did. But the great thing of this game is you can save your progress every time you make a pitstop. I played whenever I felt like it for like a week and a half during my summer vacation that year. I played from a few laps to a few hours, depending on the time I had and whether or not I could stay awake.
When you drive into the pits, it's one of the options in the pit-menu. You can choose to put on new or other tires, choose how much gas you want and choose whether or not you want to save your game at that point in time. When you do it saves the game on the VMU (memory card) and you can choose to "resume" that saved game whenever you start the game again. It's pretty simple really...
While Yuji Naka stated they had plenty of time, it is obvious they were in a fuckin hurry to make poor SA2 before the Dreamcast dies... however i still don't think it has any problem with its graphics, anyone just go fuck yourselves who says yeah yeah but the graphics blablabla...
