I can easily say I like this piece much better than the viola concerto in G I always have to play. I'm sure I wouldn't say the same if I actually played viola da gamba, but there you have it.

Wonderful! I really love baroque music - it's so ornamental :) And the thing is, I always get very happy whenever I listen to baroque music. I think it's because of the playfulness of the music and the wonderful harmonic melodies :) A truly magical era in music history.

@cellolove7 Then you are most fortunate! The violoncello and recorder are a beautiful marriage bettered only by the supplement of harpsichord (should you find a keyboardist, they need not skill in continuo and may get by through imitating the melody with the right hand). You might well investigate the recorder sonatas of Handel as well.
