hahaha what a bunch of dumbasses. if you are deluded enough to imagine a person who worked for years and put into the system and one day they decide to " take a vacation" in the middle of a major recession/ depression, you dont need to comment on this at all. take a look at detroit. where most american jobs were sent overeas and the entire town died. that is whats happening to america now. defend that
When I got laid off from my job a 3rd time in only 1-1/2 years, I moved to Arizona. I worked here for 27 years before I had to go on unemployment when my job went to China. I believe I deserved what I got because I paid into it for a long time. But I know people personally who will milk the system for all it's worth. I think you know some too. To be honest, when I did get called by a temp agency to go to a new job, I really didn't feel like going. I was getting spoiled too!
Isn't lowering unemployment by massive pork barrel spending, threatening business leaders, nationalizing industries, and raising taxes on job creators a good thing for our country =P.
@johnle617 - These are nothing more than bonehead political hacks! The're not standing on the unemployment line or going without! They have no idea where the jobs are, or how to create the jobs that are desparately needed. All these right wing jackasses are doing is complaining on how it's going to hurt the rich! Just Fox News nonsense!
@earlyhemibill -The point is that most Americans want to go back to work whoever creates the jobs, but you can't just cut off unemployment benefits which is used as a temporary solution at the time here was desparately needed in which these nuts here on Fox clearly miss.
These people have no idea what it like to be middle or lower class. Nobody want to be on unemployment they want to work. Being on a fixed income isn't going to get you anywhere. Basically the rich get richer and the poor doesn't get a fucking thing. Stop assuming that you know what people want, and find out.
I'm a republican, and my unemployment ran out in florida this week, to recieve unemployment you had to been a worker who lost thier job through no fault of thier own. why are the republicans trying to kill the unemployed.I will now vote for a democrat in November. I hope the republicans burn, because I'm a hard worker and want a job.
If this government cared about the people then taxpayers should have been given the money that was given to AIG, the car companies and the banks. We could have bailed ourselves out! How come Congress and the President can't do what is best for the people??
Eric, I have worked for 25 years non stop., I have 2 kids to feed and a mortgage to pay. I have been collecting unemployment for quite some time now and only make half of what I do when I'm working. Unemployment will be running out for me soon, yet I cant find a job anywhere and I have applied to jobs that would pay me less the UI. If you were to lose your job tomorrow Eric I would love to watch you pull your foot out of your mouth but if you were here you would have to pull mine out of your ass.
how about a 5000 dollar tax credit for companies that hire and employ someone for a whole year, pay copanies to hire people instead of paying people not to work.
Extended benefits for the unemployed is a lie, All Fed-Ed ends on Dec 31, 09. Anyone whos claim ends after that is SOL. There is no follow extension on as of yet. Forget HEALTHCARE. Jobs and Unemployment should be the first priority.
i do understand what your saying , but is unfair just to blame obama, u have to remember that bush's goverment are the #1 reason for all this, is not easy for obama just to sky rocket everything back to normal is such lil time...
Bush has not been president for about a year. Stop
being a shill being used by the socialists running this country. You lower unemployment by massive pork barrel spending, threatening business leaders, nationalizing industries, and raising taxes on job creators.
Obama and his kind are simply unable (because of their Marxist ideology) to free the economy from the burden of socialists policies.
public nanny state, apply for job training -BS I have been working for 10+ years. Now, unemployed. Want to work, but EXTREMELY difficult, lots of competition. Earned a B.S. from a reputable university & have managed teams of 25 people, but can't find a job. Thank you for unemployment insurance..probably the only good thing this admin is doing. Without it my landlord would not get his rent (multiply that by how many people would be w/out benefits - what would that do to the housing market?)
Ahhh, you do realize that unemployment is at 10%, higher than it has been in over 25 years? Obama has taken a recession that should be ending and stretched it out probably for the rest of his only he will spend in office. You simply cannot spend incredible amounts of borrowed or printed money and constantly attack job-creators in the free market and expect to turn the economy around. I have never seen the economy being destroyed like this in my life time.
Better get ready to dish out more unemployment because GM CEO says he's still holding out hope that company can restructure without court protection, leaves open possibility that auto giant would move corporate HQ out of Detroit.
GM to south America and the auto workers deserve it.
26 weeks that you "don't have to look for a job"? As if this asshole knows what it's like when there are no jobs available at all. Where I live there are places that are looking to hire 3 dozen people, and 6,000 people are applting. So it's far more complicated than mere "entitlement".
The white hair guy, Toby(?) said the number of jobs lost overseas was a non-number. Really? Why don't you go and tell that to the 250,000 individuals that they don't count because they are non-numbers!
Uhhh don't employees pay into unemployment benefits?
I know I did.
And the guy with the glasses (Pat?) is right. Leaving people in the dust as the economy changes doesn't help the economy. People who can't find a job dont' just disappear. They need to be trained to do another job.
We can deal with that fact or stick our heads in the sand while things go down the toilet.
