uhh... PhyX is what the GPU uses for doing the particles moving around and stuff and the CPU Always calculates something.. So there's no way anything can be completely used on the GPU cuz the CPU has to format all the pixels and stuff and say the commands of what to exicute.. stuff like that.. so the GPU does play a part in these simulations.. a big one..
As someone else in here said "this is some hardcore particle physics!". Try to make your computer run over billions of little dots in a 3d environment that move naturally to the other dots around them.
And tell me if your gpu is playing a big part in it or not.
@ZillasElite Obviously since this is using the compute shader function from DX11 it is running on a gpu. But this type of thing can be run on a cpu, its just more efficient to run it on a gpu. The person you were replying to was obviously wrong of course.
@ZillasElite I don't know why you are bothering to "sigh", your statements were ambiguous and I was adding clarity. Perhaps you are sad at your ambiguity?
People remember that the GPU is just a processor like your CPU. It's just that they created a seperat processor (GPU) that handles and is built for graphics and often physics calculations.
Stand by cant download and the video card shouldn't overheat unless your rendering or something (im talking about when your sleeping) i have a lcd monitor it does get pretty warm when left on for a long time
I've never heard of a monitor Overheat... the only thing in that respect is burn-in for certain, mostly older, Plasma monitors with a consistent image for a longer period of time.
My point is: wtf is tjhe point of a screensaver when you're not looking at it? making it turn off after 25minutes or so saves power and possibly giving it a longer life
No,... you get it for Vista too in the SP2 update, but u can't use it without the Ati 5XXX Radeon Video card Series... cause no other video card supports it...
no lol you fail. overclocking a card doesnt mean it can run Diretx 11 hahaha stupidest thing i ever heard, you AND your brother should both get macs for being so fucking ignorant.
im not saying that when you superclock you get a better directx noob im saying the makers of the card made it so that the card can run directx11 and all that stuff. and a superclocked video card would just mean it runs slightly better than a regular card. You should go get a rock for being so stupid
look you fucking faggot when nVidea "the makers of that card" made the card the 9800 GT Directx 11 wasnt even around so the card is built on the wrong aricitecture and will be unable to run it if it can then you have got the only nVidia card ever that can run DX11 as it fucking cant you fail, shut the fuck up.
what are you talking about. i originally commented to answer the question that you do not need windows 7 for direct x 11, and that the 9800 and many other cards support direct x 11. Telling the person who commented that you need a certain graphics card to get directX11. By the way, at least i can spell nVidia and Direct X, and my bad i meant 10. lol Plus i wasn't even talking to you i was trying to explain that his/her (@Vandantcyclone) graphics card needs to support the directx they want
No. The DirectX11 support is bound to the hardware you're using - but DirectX11-support for Vista seems to be out, but I can't really say too much about it as Microsoft wants to put Vista down and go on with Windows 7.
btw yer so horribly raised that you can't even say in a kind way, "I believe that card only runs up to directx 10." Plus you should just read the comments you retard.
lol i read all the comments but your was so wrong I had to say somthing... your not sitting in this room beihind me you dont know what im doing and what im not, so how can you possibly call me a retard for somthing you know nothing about?
We will see... It really doesn't matter anymore anyways though. The 5970 can do about 50 fps and more on average for Crysis. Once we hit 60fps average on Crysis with all settings at its highest then it kind of will be pointless to upgrade graphics cards until games look even better then that to where we won't really be able to play them with what we got.
All that really matters now is the prices as long as the biggest graphics game runs that good.
Most people use it to see whether or not their computers are good for gaming. It is the most graphically advanced PC game to get. Aside from not having DX11.
Sure we could use the cards benchmark program that it offers but not every other card will work the same with it. So why not actually test it on a real game and why not the most graphically demanding game?
Since people wanted to make all graphics cards look bad haha! =D Nah, seriously, there's no point in benchmarking with Crysis aye, well.. there is.. but don't expect anything above 30 fps unless you have tri SLI! lol
Actually as programmers and programming moves to multi thread multi gpu ATIs parallel processing will destroy nvidia since their card structure wont be able to keep up with the demands required by consumer and commercial demand...
Dude, I can get two ATI cards for the price of one Nvidia card and get a lot more performance. And a Nvidia card is not that much ahead of an ATI card that competes with whatever card of theirs. Thats why its so great for them to be cheap. Plus they already have DirectX11 cards.
Well for DX10 you had to have Vista... so I don't see why you would complain about it requiring Windows 7 because it is a better operating system in the first place.
Yes, but not with this kind of expensive brute force algorithm. The video demonstrates the power of the compute shader to process huge amounts of data. If you tried simulating this on your PC with the same algorithm, well...your pc just died

Stop disgracing yourself, you sound like a retard. This wasnt possible in the late 80's. The best computer in late 80's was 10 times weaker than todays mobile phones.
It's not here to impress you because you know nothing of 3D programming. It's here to demonstrate, to those who understand how GPGPU works, the benefits of DirectX 11.
you guys are just dumbasses... this isn't a graphics demo... it's a demonstration of new compute shaders which allow GPGPU programming... and @ porschinator, the video isn't fake
Of course, it is DirectX 11. Cumpute Shaders are new in DirectX 11 and allow a better performance in a CUDA like API. But the most people here dont understand anything about it and talk crap.

But the simple truth is, in visual terms. It DOES NOT LOOK THAT MUCH BETTER than a nice little screen saver from the 3DFX days.

This is not graphics demo you fool, this is physics demo. And no, your p200 didnt do similar things. Its pretty clear you and masacis dont understand what this even is, so please, stop making fun of yourself.

first and foremost, please refrain from such comments.
secondly you didnt understand what I am trying to point out.
All I am saying, in terms of strictly graphics, it isnt that striking....

Amigas faked it by blitting Pixels or Sprites to the screen in a similar fashion to this, but with far less complexity

don't be so ignorant, you should know 3D graphics haven't been around for 30 years

lol? first 3d computer animation was made in 1979. So that is 30 years.

Stop disgracing yourself, you sound like a retard. This wasnt possible in the late 80's. The best computer in late 80's was 10 times weaker than todays mobile phones.

Is this clip meant to impress me? Looks like a ball of fizzling shit throwing of lots of fizzling shit.... and it looks like shit.

Who are wrong, this is a ball of GLOWING fizzling shit
IMB2U 2 years ago
It's not here to impress you because you know nothing of 3D programming. It's here to demonstrate, to those who understand how GPGPU works, the benefits of DirectX 11.

STFU Go preach about how much you know to someone who doesnt think ure a fuckwit.

Way to back up my argument.

you guys are just dumbasses... this isn't a graphics demo... it's a demonstration of new compute shaders which allow GPGPU programming... and @ porschinator, the video isn't fake
xXShadowAsasNXx 2 years ago 2
Of course, it is DirectX 11. Cumpute Shaders are new in DirectX 11 and allow a better performance in a CUDA like API. But the most people here dont understand anything about it and talk crap.
