  • No, no. It's the magic smoke! I know, because when the magic smoke comes out my PC stops working.

  • This is touhou? XD

  • Nerd war below

  • @99omgkiller why in the hell did you post this!?

i cant believe that people still make such posts.... :(

  • Intel hates GPUs.

  • uhh... PhyX is what the GPU uses for doing the particles moving around and stuff and the CPU Always calculates something.. So there's no way anything can be completely used on the GPU cuz the CPU has to format all the pixels and stuff and say the commands of what to exicute.. stuff like that.. so the GPU does play a part in these simulations.. a big one..

  • It ended just when it became the most interesting! Does it complete forming a galaxy?

  • tøll_lÉútê_sÛcht_mÁl_ÑÃch:_olikohle_Åúf_göøglÊ_vóll_gEÌl

  • this video has nothing to do with gpu

  • @realflow100 actually yes it does.

As someone else in here said "this is some hardcore particle physics!". Try to make your computer run over billions of little dots in a 3d environment that move naturally to the other dots around them.

And tell me if your gpu is playing a big part in it or not.

  • @ZillasElite Obviously since this is using the compute shader function from DX11 it is running on a gpu. But this type of thing can be run on a cpu, its just more efficient to run it on a gpu. The person you were replying to was obviously wrong of course.

  • @mygaffer yea...pretty much what I meant...thanks *sigh*

  • @ZillasElite I don't know why you are bothering to "sigh", your statements were ambiguous and I was adding clarity. Perhaps you are sad at your ambiguity?

  • lol at the nub that types before he thinks

  • o luk.. nvidia now creates a new universe

  • DX11-CONSOLES 40-0

  • leas puesto un mod!

  • my videocard has problems just playing this video!!

  • @MJ4everTheKing no i am pretty sure that framerate lag is on the computer being tested. this is some hardcore particle physics!

  • And how is this uswfull in gaming?? Is it that obvious milions of particles used in tech demos that shows us how old consoles are??

  • @Kaine92 If it wasn't for us nerds you wouldn't be on youtube right now. Fucktard.

  • @UltimateWire If it wasn't for fucktards, Nerds wouldn't be "Rich Kids".

  • Kaine92 just shut up

  • looks like a lot of bulls** so far

  • OpenGL is better.

  • It's Spore Homescreen in DX11!

  • People remember that the GPU is just a processor like your CPU. It's just that they created a seperat processor (GPU) that handles and is built for graphics and often physics calculations.

  • @0Slipknot0 Can CPU help with graphics and physics calculations if your GPU is too weak?

  • @riniks112 Thats only in theory and test conditions, not in any of the consumer products

  • Hum ... looks like 20FPS?

  • amagine your self trying to draw this xD and make a short movie out of it xD

  • weeeee fizeks

  • At 0:16 there is a hot lady.

  • that meant nothing to me

  • eyirgend jemand lust und laune af bissl cam chat mir ist so öde :(

  • i`ve win7, and DX11 and does my (mini) resolution

    have effect in gaming?

  • that'd be a terrible screen saver.

burning up my card for hours while i sleep.

come back to a giant smoke cloud with alarms going off everywhere at 4am.

  • @ganymedeIV4 Yep the best screen saver is for it to turn off so you save power and dont overheat your monitor

  • lol i've got a LED monitor, Produces no heat lol.

Your video card (the thing that runs the monitor) would be the thing you need to worry about overheating, not the monitor in and of itself :P

Hell i just put the computer in stand by

  • Stand by cant download and the video card shouldn't overheat unless your rendering or something (im talking about when your sleeping) i have a lcd monitor it does get pretty warm when left on for a long time

  • @trignite

I've never heard of a monitor Overheat... the only thing in that respect is burn-in for certain, mostly older, Plasma monitors with a consistent image for a longer period of time.

  • My point is: wtf is tjhe point of a screensaver when you're not looking at it? making it turn off after 25minutes or so saves power and possibly giving it a longer life

  • @BorkaBonum Yeah, but monitors have a limited life, they don't last forever, the longer it works, the sooner it breaks.

  • @provugab

screensavers for LCD's are useless anyway. A blank picture is best because it doesn't stress the crystals much and saves some energy.

  • this is exactly the true way that our solar system has appeared:D!

  • that would be a good screensaver. lol

  • do you HAVE to have windows 7 for dx 11?

  • YES.

  • @marcyboy123 NO!

  • No,... you get it for Vista too in the SP2 update, but u can't use it without the Ati 5XXX Radeon Video card Series... cause no other video card supports it...

  • I think it works on vista

  • no lol my brother has vista and a Nvidia 9800 GT SuperClocked which supports directx11

  • no lol you fail. overclocking a card doesnt mean it can run Diretx 11 hahaha stupidest thing i ever heard, you AND your brother should both get macs for being so fucking ignorant.

  • im not saying that when you superclock you get a better directx noob im saying the makers of the card made it so that the card can run directx11 and all that stuff. and a superclocked video card would just mean it runs slightly better than a regular card. You should go get a rock for being so stupid

  • look you fucking faggot when nVidea "the makers of that card" made the card the 9800 GT Directx 11 wasnt even around so the card is built on the wrong aricitecture and will be unable to run it if it can then you have got the only nVidia card ever that can run DX11 as it fucking cant you fail, shut the fuck up.

  • what are you talking about. i originally commented to answer the question that you do not need windows 7 for direct x 11, and that the 9800 and many other cards support direct x 11. Telling the person who commented that you need a certain graphics card to get directX11. By the way, at least i can spell nVidia and Direct X, and my bad i meant 10. lol Plus i wasn't even talking to you i was trying to explain that his/her (@Vandantcyclone) graphics card needs to support the directx they want

  • @iamjoseph951

No. The DirectX11 support is bound to the hardware you're using - but DirectX11-support for Vista seems to be out, but I can't really say too much about it as Microsoft wants to put Vista down and go on with Windows 7.

Plus your text is a poorly formated mess.

  • btw yer so horribly raised that you can't even say in a kind way, "I believe that card only runs up to directx 10." Plus you should just read the comments you retard.

  • lol i read all the comments but your was so wrong I had to say somthing... your not sitting in this room beihind me you dont know what im doing and what im not, so how can you possibly call me a retard for somthing you know nothing about?

  • You don't have to be a dickhead anyways, though?

  • ??? thats late what are you talking about ???

  • Just looked at the comments made about ~5 days ago.

  • meh

  • Oh and ATI has the best graphics cards out right now... And not just because they support DirectX11 already...

  • nvidia gt300 series coming out next year will destroy ATI

  • @comishio

We will see... It really doesn't matter anymore anyways though. The 5970 can do about 50 fps and more on average for Crysis. Once we hit 60fps average on Crysis with all settings at its highest then it kind of will be pointless to upgrade graphics cards until games look even better then that to where we won't really be able to play them with what we got.

All that really matters now is the prices as long as the biggest graphics game runs that good.

  • Since when did Crysis become a benchmark for graphics cards?

  • @WillP999

Most people use it to see whether or not their computers are good for gaming. It is the most graphically advanced PC game to get. Aside from not having DX11.

Sure we could use the cards benchmark program that it offers but not every other card will work the same with it. So why not actually test it on a real game and why not the most graphically demanding game?

  • Just because Crysis was the most graphically demanding game back in 2007 doesn't mean it should be a benchmark for recently released games.

Mid range computers can happily run Crysis now.

  • Since people wanted to make all graphics cards look bad haha! =D Nah, seriously, there's no point in benchmarking with Crysis aye, well.. there is.. but don't expect anything above 30 fps unless you have tri SLI! lol

  • @comishio Yeah... you really think ati wont make new cards too?

    Obvious fail troll is obvious.

  • Actually as programmers and programming moves to multi thread multi gpu ATIs parallel processing will destroy nvidia since their card structure wont be able to keep up with the demands required by consumer and commercial demand...

  • Mmm, not sure these people know about the HD5970 hehe =)

  • there is no Nvidia card with DirectX11 support yet.

  • Nvidia Sucks

  • How thoughtful and relevant of you, M!KENDO!

  • you suck and ATI sucks dick

  • enjoy your overpriced crap video cards

  • enjoy your cheap slow plastic cards, nvidias are metal and FAST

  • ENJOY YOUR 1.7%

  • dude are you retarted?

  • HAHA you lose the game

  • NVidia is definet better jackass

  • ba dum tss

  • @DEFECTX9

Dude, I can get two ATI cards for the price of one Nvidia card and get a lot more performance. And a Nvidia card is not that much ahead of an ATI card that competes with whatever card of theirs. Thats why its so great for them to be cheap. Plus they already have DirectX11 cards.

  • Nvidia has more power for more money;)

  • @DEFECTX9

Just a little bit more for twice the price...

  • then why do you watch this video?

  • just for see whats simulatios is bether crapvidia or ATI (i thing ATI wins just see it at 0.52 /watch?v=raXMkkRXv5o )

  • CrapVidia? Adavanced Micro Dicks (AMD) beat you bitch. what now

  • ...................... well ATI/AMD wins

  • you wish

  • i lol @ all the noobs that say this video has nothing to do with gpu

  • @tonderus8

sorry I am a noob but isn't physical stuff is calculated a lot more through the CPU rather than the GPU?

  • @etismyname

Up until now yes, but GPUs have become so advanced that they can perform calculations that previously were only possible on a CPU.

A CPU can do anything you program it to do, but if your GPU can handle those calculations it will do them many, many times faster.

  • @etismyname Please look at GPGPU (General Purpose GPU) where more things than graphics are calculated on the GPU.

  • o wait i swear they used this on the history channel's "the universe" to show the evolution of the universe since the big bang

  • looks like crap

  • There is more cpu being used than gpu in this video. I don't follow the point in this.

  • the particle simulation is being processed on the graphics card.

  • you don't get it... it's not the graphics that are calculated here... it's a physics simulation running through DX11...

  • you need an Amiga 500 to show this graphics....

  • friggin galaxy simulator that is doooope

  • Do i have to have windows 7? thats bullshit.

  • You can have directx 11 on vista with an update

  • Vista and windows 7 will have DX 11. WinXP is stuck with DX 9

  • Windows 7 is better than XP and Vista.

  • top

  • luckily you dont. it will work with vista too.

  • yea u just need the graphics card :(

  • yes but windows 7 comes with dx 11 so you dont have to update or anything :) i have win7 and its good lol

  • Well for DX10 you had to have Vista... so I don't see why you would complain about it requiring Windows 7 because it is a better operating system in the first place.

  • looks like a galaxy

  • ATi Rulezzzzz!

  • why there stands nvidia

i thought ati made the first dx11-cards

  • It's pretty, but who gives a shit if the game isn't fun?

  • how fortunate,why did mine explode?jok

  • Yes, but not with this kind of expensive brute force algorithm. The video demonstrates the power of the compute shader to process huge amounts of data. If you tried simulating this on your PC with the same algorithm, well...your pc just died

  • "ran" "didn't"

  • it is an advanced way to compute particles and only a smal feature of DX11

  • You don't understand seriously...if you tried to run "Does floating particles" it would blow up your computer, most computers have to take hours to render it, and if that was realtime then wow

  • You don't understand it

  • i feel stupid

am i supposed to be really smart to understand this? because i dont get how the floating dots are awesome..

  • Reason being is that all points are individually rendered and have physics applied to them in real time, your talking about thousands of super high res spheres interacting and having physics applied to them. Its the sheer amount of it all.

  • awesome O_O

  • The rendering is not what's complex here.

This is a gravity simulation the complexity rises as the number of objects squared, as all interactions between all objects must be calculated. With 5000 objects you get 25 million interactions. This seems to be a lot more.

  • lol noob

there floating dots, there amazing! :(

  • realtime?

    if yes then very impessive

  • Funny since ATI will have DX 11 way before Nvidia.

  • Funny 'cause once Nvidia does, It makes ATI look like trash.

  • Ati will have the cards out before Nvidia and no Ati is not trash the problem is the software to control them is trash. But after a few updates they do get it most of the things you see about Nvidia being so good is the fact that they make them to work better on it but many things work great on the new Ati cards.

  • I stand corrected.

  • holy shit so many particles :| wow.. in 20 years the chars' in the games will beg for their live ..you will feel emotion :| the games will be too real .. omg... ( drunk...)

  • Yes, games will be so real that a portal, which will look like a black hole, will open up out of no where, suck us all into it, and well will be replaced the video games which will now be more realistic then real life itself. DUN DUN DUN

  • Kids rating this video poorly cuz it doesn't have nice graphics lolol

  • ok....i bet its ipressive i quess

  • you can render huge solar systems like that

  • whatever that's good for -_-

  • looks like an Amiga demo ;)

  • will this be based on cpu or gpu?

hopefully because its x11 these things will be calculated by gpu, which will result in games being less laggy on us with shitty cpu's lol

  • kinda sad how dx10 came and left... was kinda pointless even making the cards. feel sorry for all those that bought the new dx10 and 10.1 cards cause they will have all that processing power but wont be able to get the full amount of features the dx11 will offer

  • damn, if it's one object..nice, nice.

  • I can understand your confusion, the video does not really explain what this is.

This video demonstrates a huge amount of particles which are all INDIVIDUALLY submitted to gpu-based physics. Not only are GPU physics quite new, calculating the movement of all these particles takes a fair amount of processing power.

  • Your P200 didn't do anything similar to this.

If you understand the complexity of this you should now this is not just a screensaver with 5000 dots moving around randomly. Besides the point is not how it looks but the fact of computing it in the GPU instead of the CPU which is much less powerful nowadays.

  • This is not graphics demo you fool, this is physics demo. And no, your p200 didnt do similar things. Its pretty clear you and masacis dont understand what this even is, so please, stop making fun of yourself.

  • Amigas faked it by blitting Pixels or Sprites to the screen in a similar fashion to this, but with far less complexity

  • don't be so ignorant, you should know 3D graphics haven't been around for 30 years

  • lol? first 3d computer animation was made in 1979. So that is 30 years.

  • Stop disgracing yourself, you sound like a retard. This wasnt possible in the late 80's. The best computer in late 80's was 10 times weaker than todays mobile phones.

  • beautiful stars omg =,)

  • This video is from a Galaxy collision simulation? Nice bogus vid...

  • Who are wrong, this is a ball of GLOWING fizzling shit

  • It's not here to impress you because you know nothing of 3D programming. It's here to demonstrate, to those who understand how GPGPU works, the benefits of DirectX 11.

  • Way to back up my argument.

  • you guys are just dumbasses... this isn't a graphics demo... it's a demonstration of new compute shaders which allow GPGPU programming... and @ porschinator, the video isn't fake

  • Of course, it is DirectX 11. Cumpute Shaders are new in DirectX 11 and allow a better performance in a CUDA like API. But the most people here dont understand anything about it and talk crap.

  • Has anyone made a directx 11 compatible card tho?

  • Ati have Dx 11 compatible cards

  • stop infecting my gene pool.

  • Comment removed

  • what the fuck, here i come and just tell you one think and all you get is crap...

  • You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

  • I do not complain with people who don't have a clear point, gtfo.

  • complain? I'm just telling you.

  • i only have dx7 for perfomance! :D

  • more like dx7

  • pff this simulation can run even my radeon 9250 :S

  • looks like some crap laggy sh*t that will never be used in any other way than to arouse nshitia fangirls, like "quantum" technology at g80 release.
