I remember Silent Running and yes they toured with Simple Minds and yes they wanted to be Simple Minds.A complete rip off of Simple Minds.Even in their videos they tried to copy Simple Minds.We used to call them Silent Minds or was it Simple Running whatever they where just a very bad 80`s band....

I discovered Silent Running just yesterday, and this is what I was thinking all day.

I was a teen when they came out, and yet had never even HEARD of Silent Running - despite being a fan of bands like Simple Minds and Tears for Fears.

They SHOULD have been massive. Their 1st album Shades of LIberty is fantastic.  And it's never been released on CD!!!! What a crime.

I'd like to see it remastered and released.

Thanks Marty for the info on Turning Vinyl in CD. Will need to give it a go as I have lts for vinyl that needs to be heard again. I have tried lots of times to get ant Silent Running from Limewire but no luck. Slan !

I have Shades of Liberty on Vinyl. Would love to get it on to CD. Any ideas anyone ? Bass player Richard is one of the boss's in Citybeat radio station in Belfast.

To convert a vinyl record to CD you need to connect a turntable to your PC and record it on to a programe like MAGIX Audio lab , then convert it to CD .

You can now buy a USB turntable from E-bay that'll do the same job.

Loved this band, wonder where all the guys are now?, I know Ian Gault was a drum tech with King Crimson. They should release Shades of liberty on cd with all the remixes as bonus tracks
