@Gorgias47 By using woman tone, where you play on the neck pickup, full volume but with all the tone rolled off, the actual notes are (in standard tuning) 12th fret on the g string bent a full tone and the 13th fret on the b string.

I think he's playing through a Marshall Valvestate amp at low volume. They're a shit amp, not even a valve amplifier, they just try and emulate one. They give this gutless, fizzy sound that doesn't really compare to a valve amp at all. Getting enough feedback sustain at these volumes would be tricky even at the best of times. It's Slash man! If he can't get it to work properly, there's probably very few people who could.

Good to hear you're having more luck with them. They are considered to be the bottom of the Marshall range though and if they were that good, a lot more professional players would be using them. Vintage 30 speakers can really help with the Valvestate sound. Marshall's tonal heritage stems mostly from the EL34 power valve. It has a deep, rich, warm and powerful tone. Have you played through much else over those 15 years? Give a full 100w EL34 a go and you'll see what I mean.
