  • what i love about the front mission series was the team combo.

wish they found creative ways to enhance the turn based strat/rpg format because as a mech shooter, the game looks kinda thin.

  • I was shocked and apauled when Front Mission began trying to rip off Armoed Core. I stopped playing Front Mission after 4, and currently enjoy 3 again, and again, and again, and again, and again, on an emulator.

  • Dood am i old... or is front mission not what it used to be...

  • Even if the game turns out terrible i'll still end up playing it, i love Armored Core, i love Chrome Hounds, i love the older Front Missions, i love MechWarrior, i love Lost Planet, i'm just a huge sucker for giant killing machines that i can paint orange.

  • this isnt front mission EVOLVED. its some other sequal.

  • The Veteran Mechwarrior in me just came alittle

  • schade is ja nur so in der art wie das transformers game schade ich dachte das is eher wie mechwarrier aus cockpit perspektive

was is eigentlich mit mechw. 5 ? da gibts doch schon kurze intro videos aber nix weiter

  • Has anyone stopped to think that this might've been just a little experiment? To test the waters so to speak? I don't think they've announced a release date for Front Mission 5 yet.

  • @MarveIed front mission 5 was already released awile ago, on the ps2

  • @plaj1359 if you mean a proper English release. there never was, just a fan translation of the original that took two years to work on.

As for FME, I agree with being a supposedly AC competitor. I liked the TBS aspect of the series much better and Front Mission Online (also a JP-only release for PS2) was more realistic than this.

  • I honestly like this game because i never played the first ones so i cant compare really

  • they should have stayed with the tactical game play as they did with 3&4.

having to move with long, mid or short distance by the leg piece and not

to forget when a hostile gets to close it will go in to a cinema still shoot out

which i loved about the game. with the graphics an detail we have now,

if they stayed with there origanel counter part, front mission would look "awsome"

  • @1xWolfAsylumx1 bullshit, people would say its the same old thing and complain and thats the truth. im glad they changed the series so it doesnt get stale. all they need to do is make it harder and instead of enemies dropping health there should be limited amounts in your bagpack. other than that i like where they too it and alot of people should to if they want to keep front mission alive

  • Kinda reminds me of Armored Trooper Votoms. Im thinking about buying it.

  • acaso no era un juego de estrategiaa!!????? AGUANTE EL FRONT MISSION 3 DE PSX!!!!!

  • This game seems ofcourse quite different from what I'm used to from Square Enix! It does seem kinda like Chromwhounds as someone mentioned, but it slightyl favors Dynasty Warriors Gundam a bit. Anyway, looks kinda cool from the gameplay, I may get it.

  • COME ON! Anyone who has played this game moves faster than this! You should be moving like Armored core4, not like chrome hounds. You have to play online to get a taste of real action. This guy would have died quickly online.

  • this game doesn't look as fun as i think it should be

  • man its already tough enough trying to kill some one with high evasion on the turn base game... imagine killing some one who's dashing around and evades a shotgun blast at point blank range... lol

  • This is a typical $19.99 phony game that most people don't give a fk about. And it took me $55 dollers after tax, Which is alsmot the same price as Modern Warfare 2. Multiplayer game engine is WEAK, the odds of me succuesfully joining a server and actually play in it is 10%. The story mode is boring(you just shoot robots throught out the whole story) Overall: A garbage game made by the Japs.

  • I played the game and I don't see what's so bad about it, I loved my romp through this game and it reminded me of PS2 and earlier type Armored Core games which are what I love. Not as deep with the customization but the gameplay was smoother so it's somewhere along the lines of exactly what I had been craving but with minor differences. Now the game is painfully short and that is the only one real complaint I have with it.

  • Game designers' programming did not evolve as exponentially fast as did the hardware. my 2 centavos.

  • AC5 will demolish this game... even AC4 and ACFA are way better than this.

  • why the hell the advertisement shows me a dick head smoking?

  • Axis is better

  • I can finally say square enix sucks, they have not made one good game since final fantasy 10 and now their taking away our tatics games and replacing them with first person shooter garbage, front mission 3 was a masterpiece compared to this piece of shit before me leave it in the junkyard, call me a traightor but i have switched over to atlus games, and yeah this was pretty much a rip of armored core we can all agree on that except......the amored core mechs look and smell better then this crap.

  • And I thought these guys were Armored Core rip-offs before!

  • Well, Squeenix has finally spat on the last glimmering hope I had for the company. When I heard of the release of this title, I was highly anticipating a next-gen strategy game that played like Final Fantasy Tactics or the older (and better) Front Mission games. Sadly, they just made it another goddamn TPS game. Sure, the Wanzers are customizable like all the others but dammit, the gameplay is so fucking typical of today's games. I was hoping for a change of pace but I guess it won't happen.

  • @gamblorn i agree with you 100%

  • The main problem with this game is....it takes 4-5 hours to complete it and that is way to short! customization is fun, probably the only reason i bought it but i must say i´ll stick with mechwarrior thank you very much :P

  • i have something to say about this game, ARMORED CORE WITH DOWN SYNDROME

  • awsome game but u cant play for shit... no offence x)

  • this is joak ! i want my front mission , not this shooter

  • @TheEwertos Seriously dude... it is what it is... & its actually a good game, i've played nearly all the front missions, and altho its no Front Mission 3... its a damn good game as far as gameplay is concerned, despite the shitty storyline and shortness it was one hell of a ride... if you dont like it... dont play it... also first front mission game with DLC... w00t

  • @RojinPC As a FM fan myself I'd say this was in insult to the series, the SP was ok at best. It's just become just a medicore 3rd person shooter, with terrible linear level design.

  • its comedy im from poland and i love front mission ! Square enix joeking. i want real front mission . i need strategy ! i dont want see this game :<

  • looks a lot like armored core to me, which is fun imo.

  • "Third-Person Shooter Action - Fast-paced action awaits as players battle enemies in the concrete mazes of cities, the frozen wastes of the Antarctic and a host of unique locations."

This is the description from the steam info page of this game... and from what i see this is far from fast paced combat.... wtf man

  • @dulf87 Apperantly the creator of this video chose to build a heavy and slow wanzer, but one can make really fast ones too. I don't know if it's played on console or pc but for me the keyboard-mouse control makes it really easy to make movemens that I couldn't make with a controller.

  • isn't this game really like full metal panic??

  • are you hacking? because your health doenst go down from all that hits :/

  • Um what the fuck is this?.......................... This is not a turn-based rpg.

This is not Front Mission 3. I won't be playing this game because I hate the look of it.

    The characters look stupid too.

  • This has got to be easy mode because if I stood around like that in hard mode I'd be dead in about 3 seconds. xD

  • utter crap

  • I got this game on release date, these gameplay videos make it seem really slow but goddamn multiplayer is insane.

When you see another wanzer you know its on, in the middle of battle if you dont jump around and dodge bullets your done for.

Really great so far, looking forward to unlocking more parts and weapons in multiplayer.

  • LOLz this game has the same MAU Robot look from RF Online xD

  • @jeremiasaskew Oh wow you're right. Even has the same colour as the first one you can buy.

  • I want armored core on PC :(

  • The game play really looks clunky. AI could use way more work. Overall the game just does not look uninspired. Armor Core other wise looked very nice.

  • Can you customize your robot or do you only switch between robots on new missions?? /Replay please!

it'd be cool if i can loot gear and equip them !

  • @SALEHinCANADA Not robot but mech - with pilot inside (in Front Mission games mechs are called wanzers) and yes You can customize wanzers; each hand, torso, legs, hand weapons, shoulder weapons, backpack and "skills". You can customize also colour and camo + stickers, all this in single player and multiplayer (this gameplay btw. is very old about year old, there is more recent fotage here and there, game is just getting released).

  • this is bull shit. where is my strategy game?

  • meh...next!

  • mechassult>

  • Honestly I just want to play so I can boost into someone and Double-punch the shit outta them in real time.

  • somehow this reminds me of Armored Cored.. but of course Armored core is way better than this xD!

  • So they turned Front Mission into strafe and shoot the game?

What's going on with the remakes / sequels lately?

    Devil May Cry

    Front Mission

    X-Com

Makes me want to blargha blargha!

  • this game looks awesome.. i love the old front mission games but im kinda happy they transisioned into tps.. this game is gonna be ill

  • this looks fun but i rather it be a strategy rpg but oh well im buying it ether way

  • This game looks great but I think chromehounds was the best online mech combat strategy game ever made...there was just too much customizing and maps that made it rock then sega killed the servers.

  • fall camo on his robot

  • this is.. Front mission?

    one guy?

this is armored core, and not a great iteration of it.

then again armored core was so close to greatness so many times and never acheived it due to stupidity and leaving options like replays out , & cockpit view

  • looks boring.... they raped the series with this crap...

  • I'll be a little disapointed if we don't get some of the larger, more extravagant weaponry we usually have access to later on in more traditional front mission games. These weapons seem very.. early level-ish.

  • I thought this game was already out.. scince they announced it in my 2009 gameinformer (I think it was gameinformer)

  • Wow! Watching this online multiplayer makes me want to get it!

  • This looks good, but when Hideo kojima and his team make Zone of Enders 3. You won't need this.

  • when does this release?

  • @BIILYBOB999 september / 28 / 2010

  • @Terror187D thanks just preordered it

  • pretty bold step your taking with that "description"

  • As long as they keep the strategy type missions and the AI is decently moving around instead of just being sitting ducks, it will be a great game! I have loved Front Mission ever since I played 4, which isn't saying much.

  • its not strategy ps3 and xbox360 dont make front mission games strategy

  • good thing its coming out in america it looks cool

  • i hope they stay true to the front mission legacy. id also like to see another ring of red

  • i cant beilive this shit front mission snes shits all over this kiddy looking bullshit. sqaure enix u need to a fm rpg

  • Are those robots or aliens ? Coz it looks like they feel pain Oo ?

  • @Kobasac2 Heh, mechs (in Front Mission games called wanzers from german - walking tank), they have pilots inside. At that level of development (about year ago) they were still using a lot of placeholder sounds, You should check new videos from E3.

  • Like Chromehounds with Valid Single player. And a multiplayer community that has'nt been ground into a heap of Slag four times over yet. If your a Chromehound fan I think this might be.

I'm tempted since it actually hits more squarely with the old xbox mechassault games. No matter what I find the paceing of these mech titles relaxing, and the impact of punching some robots down satisfying.

  • you're tooled up for heavy combat to the max, but why not double shotguns

  • This game appears to play more like Chromehounds, but I think there have been new videos out that may be more accurate to the final product. I think they said they wanted to replicate battles like the intro to Front Mission 4. Since Armored Core turned into pseudo-Gundam, I'm hoping this will bring it back. Considering From Software's development speed (don't waste time on polish!), I wonder if AC5 will compete with FME.

  • @Aethonic yeah i agree with you on ac. i mean. look at ac4 and for answer. too much depend on booster and evade. but them it's mecha game. but front mission evolved feel like real mecha game. otherwise i could be wrong. and about ac5...i have doubts about it. not sure.

  • @Aethonic I thought Square Enix was making this not FROM. Is FROM working on this?

  • @clideb60 Double Helix is the company who made this FM:Evolved

  • @Aethonic nice observation there, the Ac series was always a lock and shoot affair much like even the old gundam sim/shooter games. at least this one seems that you actually have to aim and gauge where your gun shots go to hit. Does this front mission have wanzer customization just like the old FM games? (meaning exchange wanzer parts, weapons, color change, etc?) Is it a multiplayer c-op, deathmatch capable on lan?

  • @Aethonic

I can't help but comment on the last part of what you wrote. Dude AC4 or ACFA is way better than this. Front Mission was great as a turnbased game but not as a shooter. You got it right that this plays like chromehounds and look what AC did to chrome hounds. No offense to Front Mission but this version sucks since it changed genre thereby pitting it against the mamoth franchise Armored Core.

  • @2007006096 Surprisingly, AC5 still doesn't have a release date (*sometime* in 2010 for Japan), so there won't be interference. And while I personally see this game as playing very differently from Armored Core, most people do not think the same. This game is another example of Square-Enix's recent series of disasters, but also part of a larger trend of Japanese developers failing to understand western audiences.

  • @Aethonic

Yes they play differently but they're on the same genre now which is clearly dominated by armored core. Until a worthy game comes out lets say mech warrior/commander, AC will remain unchallenged. I also agree on japanese game dev's wrong moves recently. What they don't understand is that we like their games the way they were, tried and tested. We prefer gameplay and story over graphics.

  • @Aethonic I was under the impression this iteration of Front Mission was made by an American developer? Or did you mean the fact that SE decided to change the series into a shooter

  • @KyuubiReign Yes, it's American made. But there has been a push for a number of years by Japanese publishers to go global after noticing the business trend that Japanese gaming business growth was limited. S-E has been aggressive about this recently.

  • @Aethonic Yeah definitely, and I agree with you there. They're ending up making games that neither Japan or Western gamers like.

  • @2007006096 they really did a bad job... i agree.. front mission 4 was EPIC as strategy but then again there just seeing how this game works like AC4 tho to be honest this game IS NOT WORTH THE BUY

  • @2007006096 Armored Core is a mechsuit game. Front Mission Evolved is a mech game. If you see what I'm saying. Armored Core is like Gundam, humanoid robots zipping around at a billion miles per hour, this takes the "realistic" approach with more machine looking, slow things. It's two different things really, not fair to compare them directly.

  • @UnholyWarcry I personally haven't heared of the "mechsuit" game or genre. I was lead to believe that they're both on the Mech: Action-Shooter genre. Anyway there's no point here really. Let's stop to pay respect to the great series' end and it's poor sales.

  • @2007006096 Well I was just making up terms more or less, my point just was games like this and Chromehounds and Mech Warrior play differently from games like Armored Core and some of the Robotech and Gundam games and whatnot. And I kinda doubt the series is "dead" considering this wasn't a numbered sequel, I'm sure this was just an experiment sort of thing and the next numbered Front Mission will have the regular gameplay.

  • @2007006096 i dont even hear people talk about armored core. the game isnt even that great(even tho i am waiting for AC5) if they kept it the same way then it wouldnt have sold well and you know it. gamers dont like the same thing over and over remember

  • @2007006096 yeah, i wish they just built on the strength of their old format. i'm just thinking they wanted to capture a bigger piece of the gaming market and ended up losing fans and sales on both ends of the spectrum.

  • I love the customization of Armored Core, but lets face it, the backgrounds, missions, were incredibly boring. Everything about Armored Core for answer was incredibly half-assed. Enemies all explode the same and disappear before they hit the ground, unless they're a NEXT then they just stop. And all the menus and loading screens we're incredibly dull. The only Armored Core I thought was exceptional was the customization. The ability to not only pick your weapons, BUT paint it whatever you want.

  • This is new? Why does everything look so plain and boring? I mean maybe it's the textures but...bleh.

  • @2ndself Under video there is a date when it was posted, yep it is very old.

  • @2ndself

I'm an old hand, so I will take gameplay over graphics any day. That said, I haven't seen anything gameplay-wise that makes me want this game. It looks like a toned down armored core. If you put it on a spectrum of mech games with chromehounds at one end, armored core at the other and mechwarrior in the middle, I'd put this game halfway between mechwarrior and armored core for gameplay. That isn't something I've played before, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

  • I'm just curious why the guy's wanzer seems to be regenerating throughout the fight... I hope that your wanzer doesn't regen over time, it'd get a tad old.

  • @atomicwarz Wanzer's torso in FME can regenerate, at least it was supposed to be like that but there is a slight chance that won't be in the final version of game. Anyway this video is so so so old, more than half year old, this was early FME gameplay now E3 is coming and something about FME will be there 100%.

  • looks so similar to Armored Core now that they changed the gameplay of Front Mission

  • exteel is better

  • @jedionline lmao exteel is good, but its like 4 or 5 years old, and its another gundam spinoff. no offense, but it really isnt anything to ooh and aah over

  • I'm just a little worried about the textures in the game. Seems like they didnt put enough into making the machines look war torn. Everything looks very clean and new. Just a big feat to enter into a series type that already exists aka Armored Core and there was another one for the 360 but I can't remember the name, it came out early in the 360's life.

  • @DragonsFlame3476 chromehounds maybe? that game was early for 360, and still fun

  • This feels like being a tank in an MMORPG, not really dishing out much damage but able to take a lot.

  • I thought it was a Kasel M2 he's using, but I remember that the shoulders are rounded on them. Then I thought it was a Grapple M1, but it didn't have the shielded body.

Then finally I realized barely any wanzer types bled over to the next games from FM3 (except for Zenislev which I've seen in FM4 so far.)

  • @SakuyaFM Well wanzers were redesigned a bit but we have here Grapple, Zenith, Zephyr and Frost. All those wanzers were revealed on FME developer blog, anyway check out new trailer called New World Trailer and other video Developer Diary 1 all other gameplay videos etc. are about more than half year old.

  • I loved Front Mission 1 through 3, but... I'll just go with MechWarrior 2015 for my mech fix. Heck Mechwarrior 4 with the Mektek MekPak is free... and its a lot better paced than this. Sure no crazy shaders, but graphics don't make a game exciting.

  • The thing that has really made Front Mission popular isn't being demonstrated by these videos. That would be the battle skills! If they add some type of battle skills that are customizable between wanzers that would be awesome.

  • This looks like shit.... R.I.P. Front Mission.

It was good til it lasted

  • I MUST HAVE THIS GAME. Strategy or not, ITS STILL FRONT MISSION. This is just like, I dunno, what the pilot would see. It sounds good to me.

  • @wtfman880 its not front mission though is it, its a shitty shooter with the front mission name.

  • @wtfman880 turned based strategy it is not. but if you run into the middle of a bunch of wanzers and try to take them all out at once you won't have much luck. That is where strategy comes in.

  • well this sucks

  • Wow the game play looks terrible..

  • hmm.. i think it like paly lost planet when we get into VS... not bad.. i want to play it..

  • "If this game didn't exist, there still wouldn't be a strategy game."

Never say never, but it's a good point. Square Enix is trying to reach new audiences with this game, which, like it or not, is a good strategy. Without change, fanbases shrink over time. Maybe if this game does well, the originals will be ported over to XBLA/PSN.

As a Front Mission fan, I'll support this game. But to the die-hards: just pretend this doesn't have the Front Mission name to it. It'll look awesomer that way. ;)

  • _____Aww, it's too bad for the Chrome Hound fans. They won't be able to slap armor all over the fronts of their cockpits and go juggernoobing their way to victory. I gave up on Chromehounds a few months after its release--fed up with double-doubles and stupid-looking "super chickens" that take a million hits to kill. Hit detection was so bad that cannon shells WOULD GO THROUGH THEIR LEGS. There won't be any juggernoobing THIS GAME; you'll actually need skill to play online.

  • to be honest... why dont u guys just enough talk about tactics or whatever u mention..... this is "Front Mission Evolved" by the western company called "Double Helix", not squaresoft anymore. plus the next Front Mission series would come on a Turn-base RPG... (so they say) Double Helix

  • this game is an epic fail...we need square enix to turned this game into a turn based strategy..like they did in ps2 and ps1

  • even though i like the front mission series, i hated the turn based tatics. now this new front mission sim does have more control, but the graphics still look shitty. They could at least have open space combat, and a lock on feature, not to mention full Wanzer creation.

  • Space combat?

This is Front Mission, not Gundam.

Wanzers are literally tanks with legs.

  • to be honest with myself...i hate turnbased combat..were you click and they do the job..this game is more what i like..you controle everything...instead of clicking shit...so..yea..i like this ..@streetfigtherjoe

  • NO TURN-BASED COMBAT? FAIL!!

  • i hope they got a first person camera^^

  • great""" can't wait for it!!!

  • I find all of the people out there trash-talking this because it's a shooter to be hilarious.

Considering, Front Mission: Gun Hazard was a scrolling shooter, so this is a bit of a successor to it.

Not to mention that the Armored Core series was partially inspired by Front Mission to begin with... And things do come full circle.

  • @ Zalian

If there's no front mission in the first place, there's no Armored Core...

    You're absolutely right there ;D

  • @wanzerxac Yeah, but Armored Core 5 is coming out right after this...and I gotta say, it looks way better, at least design-wise so far. Plus, even though they also seem to be going back to the clunky roots, they seem to be an awesome kind of clunky.

  • @skyrobotv Armored Core is going to clunky robots? Sounds good to me. I've only played For Answer, and it was pretty cool. I don't mind flying mechs, but I like em more big and clunky, and on the ground.

  • Aethonic your still good at owning Armored Core :D.

  • What the hell? Why is this called Front Mission? There's no turn-based combat!

If I wanted to a mech action game, I'd play Mechwarrior or Armored Core. :\

  • But those are mech sim-action games! :D

  • uh because they milked the trune based genre for over a decade....

games either evolve or die. its that simple. now stfu and watch the vid

  • They took a game and made it like everything else. That's called selling out, not evolving.

I guarantee you people would be pissed as hell if Modern Warfare 2 was turned into a turn-based game or an RTS.

  • Whoa havent seen anything from you in a while....Nice fight scene

  • Woot!
