The last thing I want is a viper that looks like an Alfa. Perhaps its just the American in me but the brutish styling and power are what makes a viper a viper.
This is the dillemma they are facing. ONLY americans bought the Viper. Because it was an affordable burnout-machine with a huge engine to get all nostalgic over. Now all thats gone. Its in Italian hands. We all know Italians can build a sportscar but... If it gets Ferrari / Fiat help with tech, quality and styling, then it will cost Italian sportscar money. And now that its no longer american... Whats left to get all patriotic over. Who will BUY this thing.
There is no way in hell you can keep pushing enormous 8 litre truck engines past modern emissions regulations. You can in american kit-cars that are largely exempt from such trivial things as rules and government regulations but not in an internationally road legal supercar / sportscar.
Well there is just about nothing as beautiful as an Alfa and nothing as brutal and awesome as a Viper, so this might be good. The teaser looks good to me, though the concept sketches Ive seen has looked horrible...
This is by no means an attempt to continue the Viper in its current state. This is just Alpha that puts their one-off concept onto a Viper chassis just to see it in motion. Which is a hell of alot cheaper than building it all from scratch just for a concept car. This is by no means a "production" vehicle.
@Janusha YOU. We have had a long discussion before. I dont renember when where, but it was on youtube. We are of the sane country, if I renember correctly? If I am right, this is just incredible.
@Janusha: You are just so ignorant you dont even know what patriotism. Look around. We buy american, japanese, and euro cars here. lol So how is that patriotic?? Me personally, I like all cars regardless of where there were built. But in your ignorant mind you have a problem if someone actually prefers an american car over a euro one. That just proves your ignorance and bias even further.
I dont talk about cars. I certainly dont feel the need to protect or defend Euro brands that do perfectly well without me. I talk mostly about the wild claims, lame myths and bold lies that people get so hung up in. I didnt run the US car industry into the ground. No point blaming me.
@Janusha: "I dont talk about cars." Of course you dont. We know you do nothing but troll american car vids. lol. And no you didn't run the US car industry into the ground. you are right. In fact no one ran it into the ground considering the fact that GM is now the top selling manufacturer WORLDWIDE lol.
I warn you. Dont start a discussin with this guy. He is very ignorant and has such a clear agenda he seams brainwashed, almost like what he says is computer generated. I spoke to him a long time ago, in a different language. And im no big fan of american cars in general my self, even if the second generation Viper is by far my favourite car of all time. But for me, and unlike him, ignorance looks the same no mather what asshole it spits out of. Nowegian, american. All the same.
Oh so it wasnt bankrupt and didnt cost you taxpayers 100 billion dollars then? I guess Obama got it all wrong. GM is the "top seller" sure... In number of cars. But doesnt it tingle your die-hard patriotism just a liiiittle bit that they make most their money selling Korean cars to China and pickups back home. Name Three internationally competitive american built cars and Ill name 100 from Europe. Again. Not a word about single models. Just your ridiculous misconceptions and hype.
@Janusha: "Three internationally competitive american built cars and Ill name 100 from Europe"
You can name 1000 of them if you want. It just doesn't matter. Because they cant outsell GM anyway. Yep on;y GM can file for bankruptcy and then turn it all around and become the #1 selling manufacturer on the planet. lol Must be tearing up your ignorant heart. lol
Hahaha 1000 of them. yes exactly. because its all in your head. Outside of your collectively misguided minds there really isnt much to get all excited over. Ok lets forget 3 cars. if its too difficult. Name ONE SINGLE US built car that is competitive and sells internationally.
@Janusha: Toyota and Volkswagen strategies are the same as GM. Has been for years. But of course you have no problem with these companies, because they are not american. The only japaneese and Korean cars that sell well here, are the ones that designed here and built here.
Ok.. so you cant even name ONE SINGLE US built car that is competitive on the international market.. So what exactly is your point here ? Why so concerned with what I talk about? Its not up to MY opinion or having faith. This isnt your nationalistic christianity nor does flagwaving change anything. I stick to facts and the fact is are pretty clear. If you find it hard to name ONE internationally competitive US built vehicle. Then perhaps thats just how it is... ?
It should be clear to you now that you cannot sneak bullshit past me. I looked up every single car GM offers for Europe and Asia and they are all Korean cars. Not US cars built in Korea but Korean cars. The only thing american is the GM badge they glue on which is probably made in China. GM took their half of Obamas 100 billion and effectivelly fled the country essentially bankrupting Michigan and closed down half of americas manufacturing. How you keep defending these people is a mystery to me.
@Janusha: lol You are by far the stupidest person alive. Who the hell wrote some law that GM has to build cars here in the U.S. and then sell them to other countries?? Thats not there strategy and obviously their strategy works. News flash, I DONT CARE WHO BUILDS WHAT CAR OR WHERE IT COMES FROM. I AM NOT PREJUDICE AGAINST OTHER COUNTRIES LIKE YOU ARE.
@Janusha: Toyota strategy is the same way. Hell, Toyota has done the same things GM has. Toyota filed for bankruptcy, Toyota took money from their Government, Toyota closed down facilities. But yet, all I hear out of your mouth is GM this and GM that. Well in my opinion, you are just pathetic Norwegian trash, who does not have a country of his own to even want to be proud of so therefore you choose to troll the U.S.
Haha excuses excuses. I dont care about Toyota but they dont push korean tin and pretend it isnt. Infact I asked you for ONE american built internationally competitive car. And you failed to mention even ONE. While ALL toyotas sell in every country.
The only way GM is selling more steel is because of the flood that shut down half of Japans car industry and because of the steady sales of american pickups. Which in america... is counted towards "car" sales.
@Janusha: Correction. They count trucks, cars, SUVs as units. They dont categorize everything as "cars". But of course you dont have the simple intelligence to even know such a thing. Toyotas may be offered in other countries. But the only ones that sell well are the ones designed specifically for that market. Which is the same thing that GM, Volkswagen and Ford does. I'll tell you what. When was the last time a European built vehicle has been in the top 10 best sellers list here in the U.S.??
Americans buy american. Out of patriotism. Also your government puts import tax on all foreign cars and has decided its is a luxury so they get luxury taxed too. To protect domestic brands. This has led Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota to open factories in USA. That way they are no longer imports. And with todays dirt cheap dollar, its Win win for everyone. But isnt it weird how they can come in and make money in the same factories where your domestic brands could not.
So.. Euro cars top 10 in USA. I dont know. But so what. They ALL sell well in USA. Im not conducting some flagwaving competition here. But... Infact last I checked in December 2010, top 10 selling cars in USA was 6 asian cars, 2 american pickups and 2 European Fords. The Focus and the Fiesta. And please.. dont give me the old story about how Euro Fords are american.
@Janusha: I dont know what you call "sell well" But if they never even appear in the top 10. Then thats certainly not "selling well". Since this is the case. I can easily tell you the mustang, Camaro, Charger and Challenger sell in countries like Canada, Germany, and Dubai.
@Janusha: lol Nissan, BMW, Mercedes? Thats the same thing GM is currently doing in other countries. You should really take the time and learn how the auto industry works. Because as of right now. You have no clue.
Christ such excuses. You dont have to take my word for it. Just look it up. But it seems to me you think it will all go so much better as soon as you "beat" me at word play or nerdy persistance. As soon as I stop saying these things, you can go back to believing and having your faith without my interferance. You are more than welcome to "win" if it means alot to you personally.
@Janusha: The bottom line is. GM is the best selling manufacturer today PERIOD. Since you think GM is such a horrible company. Why is it that Volkwagen or Ford couldn't outsell them last year??? Why is it that Volkswagen couldn't make one single vehicle to even make the top 10 here in the U.S.? Gm actually had 2 vehicles in the top ten here, 1 car and 1 truck. Where is Volkswagen??
For the same reason a company selling coal will push more weight than a company selling diamonds. Its always about the dirt cheap squeeky plastic for the flagwaving masses. Never about quality. GM wouldnt even exist as a company if not for your taxpayers money. 100 billion in bailouts to rescue a rotten company. That then takes the money and moves to Asia. Costing you a bankrupt Michican, the rest of US manufacturing and hundreds of thousands of lost jobs. And still you defend them.
@Janusha: LOL I guess thats the reason why Volkswagen and Toyota had the top 2 spots in 2010, because of the use of cheap squeaky plastics. Volkswagen and toyota has just as much plastic in them as GM
Toyota, VW, BMW, Mercedes, all Euro, Japanese brands sells in every country,
GM sells only in america and rebadged korean cars elsewhere.
Europe got a healthy business with currently around 100 GT cars, Supercars, Hypercars, sportscars and new ones added every month.
America has an ageing 7 years old plastic Corvete. Otherwise none... None at all. Im just trying to understand here.. What are you actually comparing. What, except frantic flagwaving and hate, is your arguement here?
@Janusha: I'm not comparing anything. I'm not the one thats bias. I dont blindly wave a flag in favor of euro cars just because they have a euro badge the way you do. I love european supercars.
@Janusha: I'm just trying to think with your logic and figure out why is such a bad company like GM so successful over companies thats supposed to be better??
@Janusha: "America has an ageing 7 years old plastic Corvete" At-least its not an over priced million dollar car with half aluminum body and plastic paddle shifters,
I know. America can see the market for designer shoes, Rolex and villas by the sea for those with money but cannot see the point in upper market cars simply because you dont make them. Therefore they are "unamerican" and wrong. Amazing. in a country so focused on getting rich. What do you think your people with a good income drive. A Mexican Ford or a Korean built GM ? No... They buy 40% of our upper market vehicles without ANY competition from domestic brands.
@Janusha: lol Now you are talking about rolex and designer shoes. Isn't this suppsoed to be a car video?? Anything to troll american car videos I guess. Of course we buy european cars japaneese cars and Korean cars. And at the same time Ford and GM stays at the top of the sales charts year end and year out here in the U.S.And now GM is on top of the charts worldwide. We are not bias people like you are.
Haha you people... Its the same with motorcycles. Your market is dominated by Yamaha, Kawazaki, Ducati, BMW, Honda, KTM... the list goes on and on. ALL making hyper modern, high tech superbikes. While america has Harley... Nostalgia on wheels with saddlebags. Completely void of any modern tech or road capabilities. Sold entirely on patriotism and the american dream. It kinda works for them. But its just not very competitive is it. Same with scooters, ATVs anything with an engine.
@Janusha: lol I'm here to talk about cars. If you want to talk about motorcycles and Rolex watches. Go find me on those videos. Unlike you. I dont troll videos.
No no, you are here to wave that flag. But on the topic of cars, you are down to one 7 years old overhyped plastic pushrod Corvette and thats the entire list. Dont get so worked up just because I dont agree its the pinnacle of the car industry. Im not saying its shit. But you need to believe, have faith, in your fictional superiority. That you cant name a single US built internationally competitive vehicle means nothing to you because this isnt about cars, its about waving that flag.
@Janusha: Actually the new corvettes comes out next year. But you wouldn't know that because you are just ignorant trash who lives in a country that no one is proud of. You are right. I wave a flag, I wave a flag for american cars, I wave a flag for euro cars and japanese cars. I don't choose to like or dislike cars because of what country they come from. Thats your thing. Not mine. lol
Try and save the flagwaving til the car actually exists. Every month there are new supercars from Europe too. What head of Corvette has announced is that they are not taking the step up in quality to match Euro supercars. Instead they are approaching their LeMans race teams to diminish the distinction between roadcar and racecar. Which is a hell of alot cheaper than the research and tech that goes into a modern, competitive supercar. Will it be fast? Sure.. But a supercar? Hell no.
@Janusha: No american wants a 300k Corvette. But you would know that if you've been to this country and talked to actual vette owners. As for as vettes, GM knows what their customers wants.
I grew up with american cars. My father collects old classics from when Made in USA ment something. I know that whole thing. Ive been to am-car shows, Ive been to dragracing. Ive also had my time in England with Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Lotus. Ive also visited these factories on several occasions. I even have friends at the Koenigsegg factory. Ive never said the Corvette is shit and I see the appeal with something you can fix with a hammer. But its just not competitive is it.
@Janusha: Sure it is. That is if you know how to judge cars by their price tag instead of judging them like they are 300k or more. But anyway, most corvette owners here want nothing to do with a more expensive corvette, most of them actually race their cars around a lot of our road course race tracks. vette owners like the fact that their cars are affordable reliable and cheaper. Here in the states, doctors and lawyers buy Porsches, gear heads, drivers, and enthusiast buy Corvettes.
@Janusha Lol thats funny because if you just look around you would know that the 2010 Dodge Viper ACR holds the record at Nurburgring (7.12). Its also just as inexpensive as a ZR1 but much much faster. Soon the 2013 ACR should do much better on the Nurburgring and the funny thing is the old one will hold the record for quite some time! The Viper is inexpensive and destroys the competition against cars that are three times the price. And its American. Lol your just another arrogant Euro.
Again with the ridiculous Nurburgring. What the hell are you talking about. This idea of the Ring as some kind of international benchmark where we all go to "benchmark" our cars and somehow american barnyard cars came along and won gold medals is an all american myth. These things dont happen in reality. But now every bewildered flagwaving fool throws these ridiculous Ring laps around as conclusive evidence of an entirely fictional US superiority. This is complete bullshit.
@Janusha If you had any education on the matter you would know that there is no better track to test a car then on Nurburgring. It has different elevations, different temperatures, and the perfect balance of straights and turns. It is the closest thing to a perfect track there is. And if you want to be in denial over these facts then it might make you even more angry to know that the Viper owns records at many other tracks. Lol you Euro people have many ways of denying the truth. Flags?
@lashlashlashlashlash: lol Oh I know all about Janusha. He has been proven bias and ignorant beyond belief. If it has an american name on it. Janusha will troll on it. lol Thats just the way it is.
doing this will make me shoot myself!!! this will completely ruin the Viper name. That will f**k up the viper name and the dodge name.....DONT DO IT!!!!
seriously guys, how the fuck did we let italians buy out this company. they're going to take my favorite car of all time since my childhood and completely fuck it up..mother fuckers better not make it into a spaghetti alfa romeo looking hunk of crap. it's not supposed to be an R8 super car it's a dodge viper you idiots.
The "new viper" will be NOTHING more than a re-badged Alfa Romeo Competzione 8C much like the Dodge Dart which is the rebadged Alfa Romeo Guilietta. Where are these companies going? Sad.
@sixDUMBbeaners I never said this was a Viper. The Viper is completely different. But at the time of this video, these were the rumors being floated. I never implied that this was the final iteration.
The Viper is a muscle car, not a refined Euro super-car, and that's the way we like it. Its looks are engraved in stone and shouldn't be changed to look like one of those pansy Euro-cars. Don't change the hood length and don't make the car smaller. Just add a supercharged aluminum V10.
The Dodge Viper is not a muscle car. The engine itself was developed with the help of Lamborghini. Muscle cars have big V8 while the Viper is a V10, it competes directly against the Chevrolet Corvette and the Viper's sister, the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG.
This is a terrible mistake. This looks like a naked woman on a beach with down syndrome. The last Viper looked like a naked woman on a beach from a Maxim magazine. That thing is ugly as f###. If this is the new look for the Viper I'm getting the hell out of "Dodge"
i disagree i think Ralphs design is spot on.. it maintains the bad boy dodge look across all the models... the other ones don't look right almost like the fisker karma or some weird alpha!! stick with the first one! and add just a little Ferrari technology!!! sweeeeeet
Please... please.... PLEASE dont make the new viper look that ugly. What made the viper great before can do it again. Simple FR layout with a proven push-rod v-10, stout d44 IRS, good capable brakes and a good 6 spd manual tranny. What more do you need?
Why the fuck do they need to change the body every year??? the original was the best and besides that it's a muscle car not a super car wtf? Fuck Fiat stupid shits
@SerialBeaterX1 Wrong! Supercar means exotic sports car with high price tags. Muscle cars are high horsepower/torque cars, not close to being expensive as supercars but can perform just the same. Park to the left a Camaro, Mustang, Challenger. Park to the right a Ferrari, Lamborghini, LFA. You get the difference right there buddy.
Mr. Rahal, please get your facts correct. The Alfa 8C used the Fiat 139 platform (not Viper), also used by Maserati as well as the current Ferrari California.
The 8C running gear & 4.7ltr V8 ("Tipo F136" family), was developed, built & used by Ferrari & Maserati in various displacements, ranging from 4.2 to 4.7 liters, puts out ~385 hp to over 565 hp (more in racing guise).
The Alfa Zagato TZ3 Stradale on the other hand is basically a re-bodied Viper ACR-X, complete with its V10 running gear.
@DasUhrwerks At the time of this video..which is fairly old, that was the information that came through Chrysler, that they were going to use the Viper platform, actually a rumor....not always reliable. You are quite correct on the 8c, Maserati and the California. I just drove the 2012 California. I would love to drive the 8C as to me that is an unusual car.
@TheDriveChannel I'd love to just see an 8C in person! I happen to live in a high falutin area with an Aston Martin, Lamborghini & Ferrari/Maserati dealer all within a stone's throw. I've been fortunate to see plenty of beautiful & desirable vehicls, such as the occasional Enzo, yet never an 8C!
I'm perplexed why Top Gear/Clarkson bashed the 8C's ride & handling, considering it's virtually the same vehicle as the Maseratis', which they like & the Ferrari Cali, which you reviewed recently.
@DasUhrwerks just to add, I think the Maserati GranTurismo is the vehicle to have. Maseratis have one of the worst depreciation of any vehicle. So you can pick-up a one year old vehicle with a couple of thousand miles for over 30% off sticker. Yet, you get a beautiful Pininfarina designed body, Ferrari running gear & performance and a back seat and trunk. It's like a Ferrari that can actually be used daily and at 1/3rd the price.
BTW: The Alfa 8C was built on the Maserati assembly line.
Just like the rumour... the wild myth that the Mercedes AMG SLS was infact a nextgen Viper stolen from bankrupt Chrysler. Which is a myth every single US motoring publication ran with for months. All spinning their own twist to the story as if they had inside information. Do you guys actually check facts ?
Such as forexample take ONE phonecall to Mercedes or something like that.
Or old lies told so many times they are now even in history books.. Such as Lamborghini built the Vipers engine.. Which is a complete myth aswell. But harder to de-bunk as its been around since before people could check up facts on the net.
First of all just because fiat is in a partnership with chrysler doesn't mean that the viper is going to look like an italian car. People need to get their heads out of their asses, the new viper is going to look similar to the old just more modern. And wtf are people talking about ferrari having anything to do with the viper. People are dumb for believing in these rumors.
@Janusha Being owned by Fiat doesn't mean anything, but i guess we'll see when it comes out, but the entire auto industry is dead and has been since 2000.
It should not look like an alpha Romeo for Christ sake! Don't fuck with the awesome American styling. By all means add traction control and an engine that wasn't taken from a truck and all that but I dont like the looks of those pics. And the viper is my favorite car!!!! Please don't make me hate it!!
I hate this guy he's really picky with his cars, that concept picture looked pretty kick ass and he wants it to look like an Italian car what a retard. Dodge will forever be AMERICAN!!
@daytonspro We don't hate you. I don't want it to look like an Alfa or Ferrari, I never said that. From a design perspective, you either evolve a language or you change it. Dodge has chosen to evolve it, which I agree with.Dodge is owned by the Fiat Group. Auto manufacturers are Global corporations, so forever American just isn't in the cards. Forever Italian isn't in the cards...it's just the way business has developed in a borderless economy. ....signed: Retardo Montalban
The only people that ever bought Vipers were americans. Out of patriotism and nostalgia. Then there is the fact that even with its comparably build quality and subsequent low price, americans werent really buying it. It sold only a few hundred cars a year regardless of ridiculous claims at the Nurburgring. Now, if its got too much "Italian" flare and Ferrari tech, its going to be more pricey and not so american any more. So who is going to buy it ?
"continue to do so" ? Its out of production so I highly doubt it.
Sure there are a couple of Vipers in Europe. Imported privately by enthusiasts. There has never been mass sales enough to establish a Viper dealer in all of Europes 500 million people. No Hummer, Corvette, Pontiac, Cadillac or... Buic dealers either.
@Janusha They continue to have a healthy pre-owned market. Why would they want to mass produce such a car? I'll be driving one this week prior to the new one coming out....I'll tell you what I think.
You mean... why would they want to reach a broader audience and make more money? Ofcourse they would mass produce a Viper for each household in america if they could sell them. This is a budget burnout machine were talking about here. Not some rare exotic.
The Viper died for simply selling too few cars to make a living. In Dodges bankruptcy papers when Fiat was given ownership, a revenue of 16 mill dollars was listed. Thats not enough to stay in business.
Now with the ACR, the thinly disguised racecar with number plates and its media stunt on race tracks, They managed to prolong its exsistance for a few more seasons and allow it to go out with hero status. I believe you have to wait a bit more than a few weeks for the next one to arrive. And when it does, it will be in Italian hands. Gone is the truck V10, gone is the barnyard engineering. Who knows what the new one will be but I wonder... What is left to get all patriotic over.
@Janusha: lol So now my question is. How is it that Europe can sprinkle patriotism and there is nothing wrong with them doing so? But when America does it, there is something wrong with it. Go ahead and explain that logic.
Only the US car business, US politics, US economy, US military, US everything, is run entirely on patriotism. The rest of us use sense and logic. This is why you guys explode in anger and answer every god damn hint of criticism with OMG... YOU HATE AMERICA !! Because its all about that faith and waving the flag. Nobody ACTUALLY believes US cars are best.. I mean.. They dont even sell elsewhere. But its a bit like telling the pope there is no god.
@Janusha: Only the US car businesses? Are you serious? I guess Mercedes is an american car company now. Because they are the ones shouting patriotism in their commercials saying "Mercedes, the best or nothing". Germany, the U.K. Italy all wave just as many flags as everyone else does.-
You go to a video of a german car and say you prefer Italian cars instead... They will not attack you, wave flags or shout OMG.. YOU HATE GERMANY !!!!
If it makes you feel any better, you are more than welcome to "win" the who-is-more-fucked competition.
Just understand that its the the all american financial mess were feeling.
Its amazing tho. Mitt Romneny builds a whole campaign on telling bewildered american fools how much worse off Europe and Asia is. Thereby making america look great without having to actually address any of americas issues. And it works. Hes winning. By playing the patriotism card that never gets old.
I feel like Christopher Hitchins and Richard Dawkins. That travel around telling americans there is no god. You guys are fucking crazy. Your car industry is religion to you. So why dont you guys take it more seriously and actually get competitive instead of hunt down ever cheaper third world shitholes to build your squeeky plastic in. Patriotism doenst sell abroad. Get a grip dude. Having faith and believing in your cars dont make them great.... Or very american anymore.
@Janusha: Thats utter B.S. I have witnessed plenty of fanboyish arguments between Ferrari and Porsche lovers. And most of them have always been Europeans. But anyway who cares about general people. I'm talking about professional companies waving their flags and not only shouting their patriotism, but running TV commercials about it.
1st, every Viper made was sold, it was hand built and was never intended to be mass produced.
2nd, Some of the most iconic, collectable & desirable vehicles were a collaboration between Italians & Americans. Off the top of my head, De Tomaso Mangusta & Pantera, Bizzarrini, Iso....
Not to mention the British/American collaborations out there; AC-Shelby Cobra, Sunbeam Tiger and various Rover & MG products that used the Buick sourced "Rover V8."
Thats one way to look at it. But dont you think Dodge would mass produce a Viper for every household in america if they could sell the damn things? Dont you think they would have sold them internationally if people wanted them? Viper was decided to be killed off in 2007 when it sold only a few hundred cars. Which is why there is no 2007 model. They didnt find a buyer so they turned it into a racecar for its final few seasons.
The rest of your list are rather modest contributions to car history. I know the Panthera, a rather obscure brand that came and went like so many others, achieved hero status in america due to using an american engine and the lack of american supercars at the time to get all patriotic over. Im surprised you dont mention Lamborghini and Chryslers link which is the most prominent stab at collaboration with the italians. However the Lamborghini involvment with the Vipers engine is a complete myth.
No more truck engine. But that truck engine was going out anyway. I doubt anyone builds a pushrod these days if they were ever to produce a new engine from scratch. Which is in any case highly unlikely.
People didnt buy it for its sound, torque or styling. People bought it because it was an all american cheapass, brutal burnout machine. Now they have moved away from that with the ACR which is thinly disguised racecar. Whatever shape or form the next Viper will have, is in Italian hands. So.... now that there is nothing left to get all patriotic over. Who will really buy it ?
@Janusha true. It was never an all-conquering car, but it had a thrilling character. They softened up some of the harshness from the first generation, but it was still a car that required a lot of skill to drive fast. That's what I meant- no electronics, just the work of the wheels and pedals
Im always amazed when americans talk about how their cars require skills to drive fast... I mean. Isnt that the very definition of a cheaply built, badly handling car ?
In america, traditionally, burnouts and quarter miles is the only performance that ever mattered. Since you can do both of those in a Mustang, a Ferrari has always been seen as a waste of money and something for the rich. Aslong as this attitude prevails, you will never aim for quality cars.
Not at all a fan if this is the new look. The 2008-2010 ACR looked way better.

If I am right, this is just incredible.
lashlashlashlashlash 1 week ago
@Janusha: You are just so ignorant you dont even know what patriotism. Look around. We buy american, japanese, and euro cars here. lol So how is that patriotic?? Me personally, I like all cars regardless of where there were built. But in your ignorant mind you have a problem if someone actually prefers an american car over a euro one. That just proves your ignorance and bias even further.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
I dont talk about cars. I certainly dont feel the need to protect or defend Euro brands that do perfectly well without me. I talk mostly about the wild claims, lame myths and bold lies that people get so hung up in. I didnt run the US car industry into the ground. No point blaming me.
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: "I dont talk about cars." Of course you dont. We know you do nothing but troll american car vids. lol. And no you didn't run the US car industry into the ground. you are right. In fact no one ran it into the ground considering the fact that GM is now the top selling manufacturer WORLDWIDE lol.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
All the same.
lashlashlashlashlash 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: "Three internationally competitive american built cars and Ill name 100 from Europe"
You can name 1000 of them if you want. It just doesn't matter. Because they cant outsell GM anyway. Yep on;y GM can file for bankruptcy and then turn it all around and become the #1 selling manufacturer on the planet. lol Must be tearing up your ignorant heart. lol
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Hahaha 1000 of them. yes exactly. because its all in your head. Outside of your collectively misguided minds there really isnt much to get all excited over. Ok lets forget 3 cars. if its too difficult. Name ONE SINGLE US built car that is competitive and sells internationally.
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: Toyota and Volkswagen strategies are the same as GM. Has been for years. But of course you have no problem with these companies, because they are not american. The only japaneese and Korean cars that sell well here, are the ones that designed here and built here.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Ok.. so you cant even name ONE SINGLE US built car that is competitive on the international market.. ?
Janusha 1 week ago
It should be clear to you now that you cannot sneak bullshit past me. I looked up every single car GM offers for Europe and Asia and they are all Korean cars. Not US cars built in Korea but Korean cars. The only thing american is the GM badge they glue on which is probably made in China. GM took their half of Obamas 100 billion and effectivelly fled the country essentially bankrupting Michigan and closed down half of americas manufacturing. How you keep defending these people is a mystery to me.
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: lol You are by far the stupidest person alive. Who the hell wrote some law that GM has to build cars here in the U.S. and then sell them to other countries?? Thats not there strategy and obviously their strategy works. News flash, I DONT CARE WHO BUILDS WHAT CAR OR WHERE IT COMES FROM. I AM NOT PREJUDICE AGAINST OTHER COUNTRIES LIKE YOU ARE.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@Janusha: Toyota strategy is the same way. Hell, Toyota has done the same things GM has. Toyota filed for bankruptcy, Toyota took money from their Government, Toyota closed down facilities. But yet, all I hear out of your mouth is GM this and GM that. Well in my opinion, you are just pathetic Norwegian trash, who does not have a country of his own to even want to be proud of so therefore you choose to troll the U.S.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: Correction. They count trucks, cars, SUVs as units. They dont categorize everything as "cars". But of course you dont have the simple intelligence to even know such a thing. Toyotas may be offered in other countries. But the only ones that sell well are the ones designed specifically for that market. Which is the same thing that GM, Volkswagen and Ford does. I'll tell you what. When was the last time a European built vehicle has been in the top 10 best sellers list here in the U.S.??
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: I dont know what you call "sell well" But if they never even appear in the top 10. Then thats certainly not "selling well". Since this is the case. I can easily tell you the mustang, Camaro, Charger and Challenger sell in countries like Canada, Germany, and Dubai.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@Janusha: lol Nissan, BMW, Mercedes? Thats the same thing GM is currently doing in other countries. You should really take the time and learn how the auto industry works. Because as of right now. You have no clue.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: The bottom line is. GM is the best selling manufacturer today PERIOD. Since you think GM is such a horrible company. Why is it that Volkwagen or Ford couldn't outsell them last year??? Why is it that Volkswagen couldn't make one single vehicle to even make the top 10 here in the U.S.? Gm actually had 2 vehicles in the top ten here, 1 car and 1 truck. Where is Volkswagen??
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago

Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: I'm not comparing anything. I'm not the one thats bias. I dont blindly wave a flag in favor of euro cars just because they have a euro badge the way you do. I love european supercars.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@Janusha: I'm just trying to think with your logic and figure out why is such a bad company like GM so successful over companies thats supposed to be better??

V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: lol Now you are talking about rolex and designer shoes. Isn't this suppsoed to be a car video?? Anything to troll american car videos I guess. Of course we buy european cars japaneese cars and Korean cars. And at the same time Ford and GM stays at the top of the sales charts year end and year out here in the U.S.And now GM is on top of the charts worldwide. We are not bias people like you are.
V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 1 week ago
@Janusha: lol Now we are talking about motorcycles. Just like I said before. Anything to troll american car videos huh? lol

V8Supercar1 1 week ago
@V8Suprcar1
Janusha 6 days ago
@Janusha: Actually the new corvettes comes out next year. But you wouldn't know that because you are just ignorant trash who lives in a country that no one is proud of. You are right. I wave a flag, I wave a flag for american cars, I wave a flag for euro cars and japanese cars. I don't choose to like or dislike cars because of what country they come from. Thats your thing. Not mine. lol
V8Supercar1 6 days ago
@V8Supercar1
Hell no.
Janusha 6 days ago
@Janusha: No american wants a 300k Corvette. But you would know that if you've been to this country and talked to actual vette owners. As for as vettes, GM knows what their customers wants.
V8Supercar1 6 days ago
@Janusha: By the way, right now I'm flag waving for the Koenigsegg Agera R, which is a far better supercar than the Veyron has ever been.
V8Supercar1 6 days ago
@V8Supercar1
Janusha 6 days ago
@Janusha: Sure it is. That is if you know how to judge cars by their price tag instead of judging them like they are 300k or more. But anyway, most corvette owners here want nothing to do with a more expensive corvette, most of them actually race their cars around a lot of our road course race tracks. vette owners like the fact that their cars are affordable reliable and cheaper. Here in the states, doctors and lawyers buy Porsches, gear heads, drivers, and enthusiast buy Corvettes.
V8Supercar1 6 days ago
@Janusha Lol thats funny because if you just look around you would know that the 2010 Dodge Viper ACR holds the record at Nurburgring (7.12). Its also just as inexpensive as a ZR1 but much much faster. Soon the 2013 ACR should do much better on the Nurburgring and the funny thing is the old one will hold the record for quite some time! The Viper is inexpensive and destroys the competition against cars that are three times the price. And its American. Lol your just another arrogant Euro.
PyroBlonde7777 6 days ago
@PyroBlonde7777
Janusha 6 days ago
@Janusha If you had any education on the matter you would know that there is no better track to test a car then on Nurburgring. It has different elevations, different temperatures, and the perfect balance of straights and turns. It is the closest thing to a perfect track there is. And if you want to be in denial over these facts then it might make you even more angry to know that the Viper owns records at many other tracks. Lol you Euro people have many ways of denying the truth. Flags?

DasUhrwerks 2 months ago
@DasUhrwerks At the time of this video..which is fairly old, that was the information that came through Chrysler, that they were going to use the Viper platform, actually a rumor....not always reliable. You are quite correct on the 8c, Maserati and the California. I just drove the 2012 California. I would love to drive the 8C as to me that is an unusual car.
TheDriveChannel 2 months ago
@TheDriveChannel I'd love to just see an 8C in person! I happen to live in a high falutin area with an Aston Martin, Lamborghini & Ferrari/Maserati dealer all within a stone's throw. I've been fortunate to see plenty of beautiful & desirable vehicls, such as the occasional Enzo, yet never an 8C!
I'm perplexed why Top Gear/Clarkson bashed the 8C's ride & handling, considering it's virtually the same vehicle as the Maseratis', which they like & the Ferrari Cali, which you reviewed recently.
DasUhrwerks 2 months ago
@DasUhrwerks just to add, I think the Maserati GranTurismo is the vehicle to have. Maseratis have one of the worst depreciation of any vehicle. So you can pick-up a one year old vehicle with a couple of thousand miles for over 30% off sticker. Yet, you get a beautiful Pininfarina designed body, Ferrari running gear & performance and a back seat and trunk. It's like a Ferrari that can actually be used daily and at 1/3rd the price.
BTW: The Alfa 8C was built on the Maserati assembly line.

Traction control is required by law.
Janusha 3 months ago
@Janusha Sorry, but the Europeans have bought many of the Vipers and continue to do so.
TheDriveChannel 3 months ago
@TheDriveChannel
Janusha 3 months ago
@Janusha They continue to have a healthy pre-owned market. Why would they want to mass produce such a car? I'll be driving one this week prior to the new one coming out....I'll tell you what I think.
TheDriveChannel 2 months ago
@TheDriveChannel
You mean... why would they want to reach a broader audience and make more money?

@Janusha Well....the new Viper IS coming out...and no it wont be mass produced.

@Janusha: lol So now my question is. How is it that Europe can sprinkle patriotism and there is nothing wrong with them doing so? But when America does it, there is something wrong with it. Go ahead and explain that logic.

@V8Supercar1
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha: Only the US car businesses? Are you serious? I guess Mercedes is an american car company now. Because they are the ones shouting patriotism in their commercials saying "Mercedes, the best or nothing". Germany, the U.K. Italy all wave just as many flags as everyone else does.-
V8Supercar1 2 months ago
@V8Supercar1
You go to a video of a german car and say you prefer Italian cars instead... They will not attack you, wave flags or shout OMG.. YOU HATE GERMANY !!!!
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha Your sense and logic has Europe in a bigger hole than the US by a longshot...except the Germans. Ironic.

@Janusha: lol All I can do is point and laugh at you, Because all you are doing, is getting your ignorant ass owned. lol

@V8Supercar1

If you say so... Then it must be true.
Janusha 2 months ago
@Janusha I beg to differ with you.

@DasUhrwerks

However the Lamborghini involvment with the Vipers engine is a complete myth.

ferrari influence = no more pushrod :(
pyfutura07 3 months ago
@pyfutura07
No more truck engine. But that truck engine was going out anyway. I doubt anyone builds a pushrod these days if they were ever to produce a new engine from scratch. Which is in any case highly unlikely.
Janusha 3 months ago
@Janusha you're probably right... but I hope it retains that American sound and low-end torque, along with good styling
pyfutura07 3 months ago
@pyfutura07
Janusha 3 months ago
@Janusha true. It was never an all-conquering car, but it had a thrilling character. They softened up some of the harshness from the first generation, but it was still a car that required a lot of skill to drive fast. That's what I meant- no electronics, just the work of the wheels and pedals
pyfutura07 3 months ago
@pyfutura07
