  • WOW

  • bass 1s arms go out so far!! I love it!

  • bass 5 sounds slaptastic

  • the last hit was a little flammy

  • Cadets has the lowest bass 5 I have ever seen from a corps

  • @cd3101tube it was determined this summer through vigorous testing and sampling that the lowest two basses belong to the Cadets and Blue Stars.

  • Aft bass5 sounds odd

  • @M3ssageT4k3n It's sounds amazing though haha.

  • @AetherPhantasm thats what happens when u tune a normal bass 3 to be a bass 5

  • 16, 18, 22, 24

  • shit, we march a 16,18,20,22,26. are you sure there all the same sizes except 5

  • just real quick...

    we march 20, 22, 24, 26, 30.

    now that that's cleared up..

  • 18", 22", 24", 26", 30"?

  • @johnpaddie If you're referring to the bass sizes; top 4 are the same just tuned very differently. The bottom bass is the only size difference. Pretty crazy stuff.

  • @BDdrumline08 Perhaps I need glasses... Even looking at it right now, it doesn't appear that way... Anyways, would you know of a reason to try this? Obviously it brings about some interesting topics as far as tuning and drum choice :) I consider myself to be an advanced student of bass drum, so if there's something behind this, I'd like to know it!

  • @BDdrumline08 Really? That's very interesting.

  • @BDdrumline08 false.

  • @BDdrumline08 Sometimes I don't understand their drum sizing. Like their tenors for 2010.

  • @BDdrumline08 dude thats cool

  • @BDdrumline08 Wrong. The sizes at cadets are usually 20, 22, 24, 26, 30. Of course with 2011 having a 6 man bassline im pretty sure they added a 18 on top.

  • @BDdrumline08 they seriously have 4 drums the same size? damns lol

  • @BDdrumline08 yea, they look like they're all 32'' to me....

  • @BDdrumline08 nope.

  • @johnpaddie 20, 22, 24, 26, 30

  • Very good splits.

  • I reeeeeaaally don't think that there's a 2 inch difference between 4th and 5th bass, people. Easily 4 inches.

  • @musicadejazz its chris watson

  • The 3 people that "dislike" this got cut from the line.

  • I highly suggest everyone invest in a subwoofer and re-listen.

  • Is the 3rd basses name Adam?

  • I just awesomed all over myself.

  • Practice+dedication= this

  • one of my favorite basslines of all time

  • Any one know their names? I know the five is big Josh but I dont know any others.

  • I wonder why everone hates the cadets so bad...i think they are awsome :D

  • My favorite bass line, my favorite bass lick.

  • Killer. Clean unisons are what make a truly great bass line. Cadets have got them!

  • What size drums are these?

  • Every bass line should watch this to see how bass drums are REALLY played.

  • last unison = dirty. but still that was amazing.

  • too bad these guys step off on the right foot, lol. weirdos

  • @osterianio no it was just that parth they start moving on the off beat

  • @litledrumboy

  • holy lord i love cadets bass tuning

bass 5 make me jizz in my pants

  • they are different sizes... i met every one there... i met the tech and staff and i played for the line...

  • Bass 5 has perfect technique..jesus.

  • that's probably you...fag.

  • thats how you tune a bottom bass.

  • i beleive 1 and 5 are different from 2-3-4 again not 100% sure but they do look about the same size

  • This is in correct.

20, 22, 24, 26,30. you'll see two of those guys, as well as a few snares and tenors in the 2006 Scouts line. I was also there (in 06). I also teach with the bass tech in michigan.

  • I Never Honestly Understood Why Bass 1-4 are 20" Just Tuned Difrently obviously but then Bass 5 Is 30"

  • Comment removed

  • I think they are actually all different sizes. Basses 2 and 3 may be the same size.

  • its like 1 and 2 are the same and 3 and 4 are the same juz tuned differently. just in my opinion the way it looks

  • Feelin that bottom bass vibe with my subwoofers.

  • no it doesn't really low thats it.

  • bass 5 = sex

  • hell ya.

    pure sex.

  • is this 07?

  • they sang this in another video. it's crazy.

  • video is sped up to make it look like there fast

  • definately not

  • Yeah def because nobody in the corps can play with a quick tempo or anything, oh and guy that claps in the beginning and walks off, definitely faster as well. Moron.

  • He's walking at a completely normal speed. Who the fuck walks slower than that?

  • Exactly my point, I was being sarcastic to prove the point that the video is not sped up.

  • Troopers drum major

  • is it just me or is it weird that bass one is section leader? i thought it was bass 2

  • umm its not high school

  • bass 1-3 look the same size in this view i guess i dont really know, that would be awkward though!

  • in a way they do but if oyu look close there is a difference probily only a few inches though in rim size

  • ahh there basses sound cool bass 5 is a little weird but sounds real nice

  • jeezus cripes i hate the way the cadets tune bass drums.

  • Bass 5 sounds like your bouncing a basketball,

  • yea i heard that XD i was like wtf

  • Dear god that bass 5 sounds like a punching bag.

  • Lol, it does.

  • It sounds like....A gun shot. lol

  • @rreemmzzrruullee Hell yea! 5 sounds beautiful

  • amazing they are not people.MONSTER ^^

  • they sound like LOVE.

  • that tuning is pretty freaking sweet

  • its all because of Aungst (sp?)

  • aungst left the cadets in 2008.

  • i LOVE that tuning!!!!

  • DA BEST...

  • this bassline is the only reason i like the cadets. goodness.

  • ...thankyou...someone finally speaks

  • bass 5 sounds like some dude playing on a tupperware tub hahahaha

  • that's how the FUCK you play bass drum

  • This video makes me want to play bass for my high school line. I'm actually starting to prefer it over snare.

  • What usually determines what bass your assiagned,

like is worst the top, because its easier to split?

  • somebody told me newbs go on bottom because top has more notes

  • 1 is usually the best 5 being the worst.

  • With 5, there is no room for error, and the rhythms are usually very syncopated. 4 and 2 I would say are equally the most difficult because of the notes being mostly anti-intuition (on the +'s, e's, and a's). 2 has more notes than 4, but 4 has less rebound. With 1, as long as you can play even rolls, you're mostly good. I'd say 1 and 5 are the second easiest spots with all the considerations. 3 is the all around easiest in my opinion. This all depends on what group you're marching of course.

  • Dude that's probably the best explanation of the difficulty of a bassline I've ever heard. I've gotta say though, bass 1 and 3 have some ups sometimes, at least in the Crossmen.

  • Yeah, many basslines seem to be escaping the commonalities of bass drumming. It almost doesn't matter which drum you're playing anymore, its mostly about the necessary sound now rather than sticking to "bassline theory". This gives writers a lot more freedom, and makes the music much cooler! It also gives drum corps a piece of their personality ;)

  • haha i have to ask, whats you're name

  • Frank, bass two of the Crossmen this year. Mike, right?

  • yep. idk if y'all heard, i got contracted with the Blue Stars so ill cya'll on tour this year

  • Dude that is definitely badass. Congrats, man! I'll see you on tour!

  • yeah man, ill see you in like a month. have a good season

  • hey do you know jack holway? he played tenors. hes center for tenors this year.

  • Yeah man Jack's cool as hell. He's gonna be in the Cavaliers this year if I'm not mistaken. I'll be bass two for the Bluecoats!

  • no. i think i speak for like 90% of the guys marching 5 this summer, we go on bottom because we'd rather play our notes...

sure the guys on top have more notes. but do they really get to play em? no.

all those unisons... yeah thats all 5

  • Dang right man.

  • what u mean do they really play them?

  • Top bass is going to town. Good lord this is good

  • i luv how therre basses r tuned!

  • cadets bass rim clicks are soo sexy... how they barely hit them and they cut SO cleanly... love it! i hate when basslines slam the shit out of rimclicks...

  • They have a great bassline every year, even if the rest of the drumline struggles somewhat.

  • I LOVE the way they sound!! Especially bass #5! I think there is definite reasoning behind the sizes. In any case, a larger head usually means a fuller sound. maybe they have them sized like that to keep each drum the same volume?
