So are we looking back in time are is the light projecting from the telescope just hitting light traveling in our direction from other galaxies? And if this is true then is the light shooting from our direction then reflecting off of light coming from the distant galaxies? Is this the very definition of looking back in time?

@DamarSweetness Sorry couldn't make any sense out of that question. The definition of looking back in time is simply this - Light does not travel from one place to another instantly, it takes time. So obviously, the farther away something is, the younger it looks. If you were a distance of 65 million light years from Earth right now, you could watch the Asteroid that wiped out the Dinosaurs, hit Earth. Time is relative to where to are and how fast you're moving.
