My family is dealing with our 4th deployment. 1 tour of 15 month and 3 of 12 month and we do not complaint. We just do what we need to do. It is a mistake to believe that this former Marine is a representation of our Armed Forces.
He does not represent soldiers. he is not a marine any longer and it will be nice to see him to stand for what he beleive without having to resource to a uniform he does not were any more. And the comment that says that even our troops are prostesting, that is not true. This would have made more sense if the police were actually hurting someone. The vast majority of the encounters between police and the occutards has been peaceful, but if some smelly hippie decides to break the law and then resists arrest, the cops have every right to occupy their hands with handcuffs.

There is nothing wrong with making profits, that's how business's survive, however, all the jobs in America are now at McDonalds. The only real facts about this video is 1.. the cops are attacking peaceful protesters knowing the crowd are a pushover they have no one to fight them back. 2.. this soldier objects to their behaviour as they are paid by the citizens to protect then NOT TO ATTACK THEM , batons are suppossed to be for the policemans defence not as an offensive weapon but note how many cops normally ignore that rule. 3 the cops were shocked into inaction so his outrage confused and stunned the cops .
If anyone knows anything about the Russian Revolution of 1917 (which was successful as a revolution, but ended in disaster), the police and soldiers were called in to suppress the protesting citizens, but ended up joining them, leaving the govt. with almost nothing left against the people.

His intentions are good, and he acts on them to the best of his ability. I am sure that most of the policemen are the same, it's just that they do no understand the situation, and I am also sure that what this Sergeant did will make these policemen think twice about what they are doing, even if not at that moment--later they will.

If I were that Sergeant and went to fight in Iraq, I certainly would have wished for another Sergeant like this to yelled at me and say, "Look, what you are doing is wrong, and simply does not accomplish what it is you are trying to do. Sgt. Shamar Thomas served 2 tours in Iraq. Both his parents served. So did his great grandfather. This video was because the Sgt. saw a cop hit a woman in the face with a baton and he started yelling at the police. He had been yelling before the camera was on. @MegaAnonFag I know a service member doesn't have to be in uniform 24/7. In fact, I'm sitting in front of my computer in civilian clothes right now. The fact is that if he wishes to represent the Marine Corps (which he is not authorized to do when backing political ideas) then he has to wear the uniform correctly according to military rules. The regulations are an order, not an option. He can (and I hope he will be) prosecuted according to military law.

@qzetu The OWS movement is a political movement as well as social and economic. Simply by being there in uniform, he is backing a view and violating military law. Being correct does not exempt him from military law. He is still in the reserves, so military law still applies to him. The dress code is not bullshit, from day 1 of boot camp Marines are taught that the uniform is something sacred because 10s of thousands have fought and died in it. Violating it is akin to sacriledge.
@artcalight13 The Commandant of the Marine Corps approves or disapproves uniform regulations submitted to him by the Uniform Board, politicians and bankers have nothing to do with it.

Sgt. Shamar Thomas served 2 tours in Iraq. Both his parents served. So did his great grandfather. This video was because the Sgt. saw a cop hit a woman in the face with a baton and he started yelling at the police. He had been yelling before the camera was on. Stop saying he's a plant bc there happen to be a camera there. Because he had already been yelling.

@MegaAnonFag I know a service member doesn't have to be in uniform 24/7. In fact, I'm sitting in front of my computer in civilian clothes right now. The fact is that if he wishes to represent the Marine Corps (which he is not authorized to do when backing political ideas) then he has to wear the uniform correctly according to military rules. The regulations are an order, not an option. He can (and I hope he will be) prosecuted according to military law.

@John3Sobieski He never backed any political ideas, or political candidates. He knew what was taking place in OWS was wrong, and he had some words to express about that. And he was recently released from service, so he just got back and was pissed the hell off. Hell yes! How could anyone compline really, he was fuckin right in the first place. Our country is corrupt and you are talking about some bullshit dress code. You should be just as pissed off as him. At least acknowledge the issues fuck.

@qzetu The OWS movement is a political movement as well as social and economic. Simply by being there in uniform, he is backing a view and violating military law. Being correct does not exempt him from military law. He is still in the reserves, so military law still applies to him. The dress code is not bullshit, from day 1 of boot camp Marines are taught that the uniform is something sacred because 10s of thousands have fought and died in it. Violating it is akin to sacriledge.

@artcalight13 The Commandant of the Marine Corps approves or disapproves uniform regulations submitted to him by the Uniform Board, politicians and bankers have nothing to do with it.

Again, he is not backing or arguing anything political. This is a moral issue, that is what he is talking about, why can't you understand that? Those 10's of thousands of soldiers fought and died for the people, not some damn dress code. If the people are being beat, maced, and stripped of their rights, mother fucker, a dress code is the last thing you should be concerned about. This is exactly why America is in trouble, cops and soldiers care more about code and orders, than they do the people.

@qzetu He is backing the movement with his uniform simply by showing up. If he had been wearing a sweater with a big USMC on it, I'd be perfectly okay. In fact, if I saw police beating on a random person for no reason, I'd be right there with him. This person you praise has no moral code, he is doing this solely for attention. He wanted to be on TV and cash in on his title of MARINE for hero worship. That should be very upsetting for you who support a moral movement.

You simply cant understand that his reasons were not political at all. If a soldiers serves over a year and then comes back to find his country hurting the people hes protecting, he has every damn right to be pissed off. You have no idea what the situation was, he probably just got back. He could have been walking a long and his frustrating finally hit him. You don't know if he was out for attention. When it comes down to it, he gave me and many people back our dignity that the police have took.
