Actually, disneyfan81, he's right (as are you with the Reel to Reel Picture Show). Ralph Andrews Productions went through financial problems in the mid-80s, which explains the lack of game shows they produced at that time. The same problems Yahzee had the '80s Lingo suffered that same problems.
This show was executed so poorly. It seemed like the studio space was way too small for that big set. Everyone was practically falling all over each other.
Way too much going on and the format is too much like the original Match Game. Not particularly fun to watch.
I'm not sure if the disorganized staff on the show had the idea or Peter to bring the losers back for another game. Maybe they could find anyone interested in this game, like me, they probably stayed home to play the board game.
Another complaint, doesn't the usage of WILD sides to the dice seem a bit flawed. It is different per die and makes it impossible to create 5 of a kind.
Another thing, the co-host sounds like it will change every week and it's going to dystroy any possible chemistry
Clever format, but way too much going on. The Match Game-esque questions took too much time to get to the essence of the game, which is the dice rolling.
I had a thought of how this might've worked: ditch the celebrities, use two teams of four, and have one person on each team face off against each other in a question round, with the first to three questions getting a die roll. Use different players for the game. First one to Yahtzee wins, or the team furthest along the way after four rounds wins. Thoughts?

It's easy to see why this show failed. Horrible.

so would u rather have yahtzee the game show be pretty much all dice-rolling?
namk19 3 years ago
No not all dice-rolling, but not nearly as much Q&A emphasis. "High Rollers" made a good balance between the dice and questions.
It took several minutes to get to a 20 second dice roll.

@gatorman295 Better than what the producers used, that's for sure...

This show had a case against it as the production company didn't pay the host, the celebs, or the contestants some of all of their promised paychecks

@zachhoran Actually I think you've got this confused with Peter's later show"The Reel-to-Reel Movie Game".

The front game resembles a knockoff of Match Game. Wonder what Gene Rayburn or Mark Goodson would say to that?
