Thank you for taking the time...and I know it was a lot of time to put this video together. I have been trying to fix the door on my wife's Mini...the video was a huge help! I did subscribe and will let others know of your great videos. Thanks!
This was very helpful and easy to understand and actually worked great, until the very end, when I put the door lock mechanism back and now the door won't open from the inside or outside - it appears to be locked but I cannot unlock the door - with the key or the keyless option. I tried to open it using the exterior lache (moving it manually) but it won't got down enought to open the door. Any ideas on what I did? Or how to fix it? the door panel off so I can get my hands in there....
@slkraly I "unplug" the elctronics and it doesn't change, I cannot operate it manually. Or I plug it it in and there is nothing - the fob works for all of the other doors and locks. It was working beore I plugged it back in. Could it be a fuse? Ithougth once I unplugged it it woudl work manually, but no such luck. any troubleshooting ideas on what to do, OR how to open the door before I resort to taking it to th shop?
@slkraly Did you put in a new latch module or a used one? If it's not working only on that door either the wiring is bad at the door hinge or the latch module is bad.
I kinked the cable on the exterior door lock after replacing the actuator. What a PAIN IN THE ASS! it go to where it wouldn't open from the inside or outside. So I had to remove the passenger seat to get the door panel off of my 2004 mini cooper. I hate this car now!!!!!
I was struggling to diagnose and visualise the problem with the latch mechanism. Thanks to your great video, I found the problem and was able to fix it. Can't thank you enough! Keep up the good work, but try and get a few early nights in :-)
Bri you are an amazing teacher. Very thorough, easily understood and you help us wanna bees to "believe we can". Take good care of your better half and the world will be a better place. Might I suggest that with each video you give a brief history as to why the work you are about to show is being done. Cheers. Gerry
Hi Brian. My neighbor has this vehicle. Last week he had trouble getting the boots off his spark plugs, and on #1 and #4 plug there was a washer like obstruction sitting on the plug at the bottom of the plug tube. I presume a bit of the boot was left behind when it was removed. I tried for a few minutes to lift it off with no success, using a magnet, long needle nose pliers, and a coat hanger. Have you ever had that happen?
@briansmobile1 hah her power lock stoped working like a month ago and she wanted me to fix them, so i told her i didnt know how(wink wink) lol and i was free and clear till this happened lol she says Thanks btw

Get some rest (you deserve it) and thanks for the info. I had a couple of Audi's and have been inside those driver's doors more times than I care to remember. German electrics and door hardware. You'd think they could do better.

There's actually another fastener under the little reflector in the upper right of the part where you're pointing out the torx screws. fyi.
This is a great video and I posted it on the northamericanmotoring forum.

@slkraly The lock is actuated 95% electronically. Likely there was some kind of oversight plugging it back in.
