Rich faggot Ron Townsend demanded that Rickie Fowler turn his hat forwards at a press conference. What a dumb southern redneck peice of shit Townsend is. "im bette than you Rickie cuz I inherited daddy's money". haha. I hope Rickie wins and wears his hat backwards on the 18th hole. Fuck yeah dude!
rickie is a gentleman and a scholor! And a wonderfull athete! He has the best head on his shoulders out on tour and will dominate the game with macilroy and J Day for a while to come. Those three are the future rivals and they know it. roy ishekawa is consistently useless outside japan. I love rickie the most. He has a great heart.
Thinking draw actually. Halfway back the club is quite upright but he lays it off quite a bit and if anything gets a bit too shallow. This video supports what I heard that this is basically a homegrown swing with a bit of Hogan influence.
swings kinda weird but he can hit it a mile. does anyone know if he hits a fade most of the time? his swing is just asking for a fade when he brings the club back too steep.
Um, seriously? The PGA tour clocks his average clubhead speed with the driver at 114.97 mph. That's not incredible for a tour pro, heck, it's only 4 or 5 mph faster than me, but it's certainly fast.
@strataone I'm 5' 8" and when he walked past me at the Ryder Cup, for a brief moment, he looked up to me! He's 5' 6" if he's lucky and was hitting almost as far as Stewart Cink. Golf's a funny game.
I always thought that Tryon was overhyped. I know he finished high at the classic, but he was one of many AJGA all-americans. He should not of turned pro so early and I think he liked to party. Where is David Gossett? Robert Floyd? Great to see guys like Imada finally making it. AJGA player of the year that stuck with it.
It would be great to see him win today. I got my first dose of him yesterday. He has that look to him. First guy that has really shot out at me since sergio. Unfortunately, serg can't putt like howell.
Ty Tryon was the last Rickie Fowler only better and younger. He finished 2nd in the Honda Classic as a 16 year old, and grew up, iirc, in the Ledbetter Academy. Same build same clothes same hype.
The main reason the swing is bad is because the clubface so rapidly flips over through impact. He is super athletic and will make it work to some extent...But its not on plane - the arms are under plane and the body is above the plane - so everything is off plane. To top it off his right knee stays extended through impact, which will eventually result in a lower back injury. And yes, lots of players make it through Q School with terrible swings.
No question his swing is terrible for many reasons. He's probably a good athlete and with practice he'll make it work decently. But this swing cannot be consistent. He is quick..no doubt about it.
@Inmotion70 well, that "terrible" swing that you speak of is currently in the top 10 at PGA q-school, so it can't be that terrible. If you want to see a "terrible" golf swing, then look at Charles Barkley. To call Ricky's swing terrible shows you know nothing about the swing. He keeps the swing on plane the whole swing almost exactly like Hogan!
I agree with you 100% except for the on-plane thing. That's not to say I have a massive problem with his path but I'm not sure what you mean with on-plane. (if you are saying it's an ideal or simply that he is like Hogan)
Basically I was just saying his swing is very Hoganesque in my opinion. And also, I agree with another of your comments about the Hall of Famers. Anyone that thinks you have to have a slow swing to be successful is full of it. Nick Price had a freakin' fast swing and he was good, Arnie Palmer had a freaking fast swing when he was young and was/is amazing!
his swing changed to the better in my opinion if u look at how he is swinging now compared to that vid...but unfortunately he all of a sudden starts to swing really fast now
He can load it a lot that way. People always bug me about this but if someone can swing naturally with slow tempo why can't someone swing naturally with fast tempo?
And there are loads of em on Tour and in the Hall Of Fame right? Think about it man you know better.
Everyone knows about Hogan, Price, Trevino, Moe Norman, Palmer, Player, etc. etc. so why do people feel the need to list slow tempo as a must?
I don't want to yell at you but I have to admit I can find this a little aggravating.
he's a good golfer i was watching him at sunnehanna amateur i was caddying in the group behind him...he won the last two years but came in 3rd place this year
He has a very repeatable swing (for him) only thing is, if you watch it in slowmo, the back turn he does generates a lot of power but that much strain on the back will not last him much longer, 10 years maybe :-\
he'll do great if he doesnt change his swing at all. thats where the notion is lost, that swing has gotten to where he is now and will carry him in the future. He will probably have more problems if he changes his swing in the future. Look at some of the greats, people told furyk when he was younger he would never win with a swing like that but hes a us open champion. this guy is pure talent and feel, if he lets that guide him he'll go places, hes just gotta do the bull dance, feel the flow
His swing is good! what are you guys talking about. He doesnt model his swing after Tiger and its not mechanical. his swing is natural, which will help him in the wrong run. He creates a large amount of lag, and as long as he does that, he will have positive results
this guy jus really inspires me!! i followed him at the walker cup in northern ireland and he was just amazing and i talked to his grandmother!!!! lol
are you kidding me. that golf swing is so bad. i dont know how he can be consistent with that golf swing. but you know he is playing in the us open....
put it this way both of u little fags, hes alot better than u will evr be and hav u ever played in the us open?? NO! and both of u really dnt no wat the hell ur tlkin about if u say thats such a bad swing why does he shoot and strike lyk a pro?? and look at jim furyk's swing its not such a text book swing and hes a ryder cup hero!! Retards..
but how the hell does he hit it! if butch harmon saw this he would have a heart attack! i must admit though his downswing is wsome just wht the hell is up the backswing?
kind of a sergio move. he really pulls the grip end of the clubs on his backswing and re-routes it to strike it solid but is not conventional at all. all the homemade swings seem to be the very effective though. I actually really like his swing!!!
id probably out drive him with a 3 wood

ricky grew up swinging full size clubs and to get leverage had to lay it off under
knows how to work the move cos it's the only one he's ever had
no offense to poor ty tryon and others who fell under too high expectations, but fowler has 10 times more (quiet) confidence than these guys.
you won't see the idiotic fist pump from this kid every time he makes a birdie.

Played with Ricky yesterday. He shot 63 on GC he'd never seen. Hits is straight, no curve. The sound is startling.
Ugly is as ugly does. Ever see Jeeve Milka Sing's swing?

How good of a putter is he?
BigDDe 2 years ago
the 63 speaks for itself. stroke is pure, distance control excellent on 20-40 footers
on saturday he didn't read very well. xpect him to do better today and probably win
top 5 for sure
probably helps he's not in last group
