Arguably 2 of the best MMA shows I could have ordered on PPV. I mean the fights were so good, and the introductions were amazing, I do wish they could of had everything planned out, and Barnett did not take steroids, because Affliction MMA would have been bigger now had it survived. But everything happens for a reason, but like I said, I wish they'd release these on DVD. Some awesome moments happened at the Affliction shows.

Actually in medieval europe there were already highly developed martial arts very similiar to contemporary MMA (lots of wrestling, grappling, armlocks etc.). Europe has really great martial arts heritage, unfortunately most of it got forgotten during 17-19th century period.

Affliction just couldn't survive the initial business cycle. Unlike UFC, Affliction was created with virtually no capital to work with, so every event was crucial to their survival. It was untimely that the Barnett thing came up when it did, if it had happened 3 or 4 events later than it did, they probably would have only taken minor damage. What a waste, Affliction had much better events than the UFC, paid the fighters much better and probably would have negotiated to co-promote with the UFC.

You hear people disputing contracts in the UFC all the time, but it never happened in PRIDE. And market equalibrium is inevitable. M-1 can market itself over in European countries

See, I dont really believe that. From what I understand, m-1 only collects 10% from the co-promotion. There are many rumors floating around, some mention 50% of the earnings but the real number is 10%. And the way I see it, The UFC needs Fedor more than Fedor needs the UFC. For one thing, he still holds the HW Pride belt. For another, his polished record goes back further than any of the UFC champs, and to imply that they are more decorated than him would be a slap in the face.
Some jerkoff even mentioned 50% of the UFC, which isn't even possible considering how many proportionally own it. And Tito isn't bound by the same obligations that Fedor is, Tito would stab his associates in the back to make a dollar or increase his popularity. Dana White is trying to leverage the deal with Fedor by not signing his brothers or any of his Red Devil comrades into the UFC, trying to force Fedor to bend. No, UFC came about in 1993, pride started in 1997. K1 was started in 1980 as a mixed striking competition, then developed into a Kickboxing organisation in 1993. Actually in medieval europe there were already highly developed martial arts very similiar to contemporary MMA (lots of wrestling, grappling, armlocks etc.). Europe has really great martial arts heritage, unfortunately most of it got forgotten during 17-19th century period.

Affliction just couldn't survive the initial business cycle. Unlike UFC, Affliction was created with virtually no capital to work with, so every event was crucial to their survival. It was untimely that the Barnett thing came up when it did, if it had happened 3 or 4 events later than it did, they probably would have only taken minor damage. What a waste, Affliction had much better events than the UFC, paid the fighters much better and probably would have negotiated to co-promote with the UFC.

Its not completely about money. UFC basically wants Fedor in bondage. He should be able to assert his rights as an mma fighter. The UFC is practically the only org who gets fighters by the balls when they make agreements. Every other org he has went into has had no problems because of their loose fighter agreements. You hear people disputing contracts in the UFC all the time, but it never happened in PRIDE. And market equalibrium is inevitable. M-1 can market itself over in European countries

See, I dont really believe that. From what I understand, m-1 only collects 10% from the co-promotion. There are many rumors floating around, some mention 50% of the earnings but the real number is 10%. And the way I see it, The UFC needs Fedor more than Fedor needs the UFC. For one thing, he still holds the HW Pride belt. For another, his polished record goes back further than any of the UFC champs, and to imply that they are more decorated than him would be a slap in the face.

And Tito isn't bound by the same obligations that Fedor is, Tito would stab his associates in the back to make a dollar or increase his popularity. Dana White is trying to leverage the deal with Fedor by not signing his brothers or any of his Red Devil comrades into the UFC, trying to force Fedor to bend. Which is why Fedor made comments about UFC not treating fighters like people.

Did people not view the deal that was proposed to Fedor? It was the best deal an MMA fighter has been offered PERIOD. Why should the UFC (the organisation that has brought our sport into the spotlight) allow M-1 global to co-promote? No, UFC came about in 1993, pride started in 1997. K1 was started in 1980 as a mixed striking competition, then developed into a Kickboxing organisation in 1993. Only recently has it turned its hand to MMA. And, mainstream sport gives the athletes the recognition they deserve, rather than being kept alive through the internet as an underground sport.
