  • thanks so much for the tip i was going to go this weekend and get a new one but i am going to try this if it works you will have helped me save some money thanks

  • do u think you would have to put the mini primer potion in the mircrowave for the same amount oft time?

  • ...this is wildly unsanitary

  • I am so grateful I found this video - thank you so much! I depoted a sample size that came with my UD Naked palette and it has lasted me at least 6 months! And I have a couple months left for sure. SUCH a helpful technique! :)

  • So how do u get it smooth and flat at the top

  • How do u get it flat mine stay at the top and gets dirty and won't stay flat

  • i can't get my stopper out!

  • Just a fair warning, I wouldn't try this with the udpp in the shade "sin" because the ingredients may contain metallic pigments, and metal + microwave = not good times.

  • a tip: you could put the small container in a microwave and it will be nice and smooth in the jar :D

  • Luv ur nails

  • GREAT IDEA!!!!! Thanks a million !!!!

  • Thank you so much! I just got an XL version of their potion (in the old packaging) in a sale they had on their site, now i know i'll have this for much longer than i thought!!

  • just did this, thank god for you!!! ahh... i just got like 4 months worth of primer out of my "empty" container.

  • @MRSLroche it depends on the type of microwave u have because some are different and heat up way to fast or heat to slow try it again but put it for less time

  • this method blew my microwave!!

  • YOU'RE WAY IS BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is great! All i did was take out the stopper! It helped loads. thanks so much! x

  • Awesome!!! Thanks so much for sharing this. I can't believe how much was in there!!!

  • this is why they replaced the bottle with tubes, like toothpaste thingies

  • I don't still understand why they make that stupid form? I think it's so you'll just spend more money on it. BUT, you can always buy the UD Primer Potion in a Professional container and that's way better than that. It's more expensive I think because you get the double amount, but it's worth it. :0)

  • AHHHHA i have an elf primer and nothing was coming out but it was so heavey and i have always heard people talking about taking out the stopper and i could never figure out HOW but now i did!! yay thank you!!!

  • What a great tip! Thanks!

  • This worked perfectly. I've had this primer potion for about 3 years (or longer) and I assumed I used all the product up, but there was still at least 50% left. My only issue is that the plastic softened a little bit too much in the microwave, which caused the stick to deform. It doesn't matter though, thanks for posting this video. c:

  • ;O i have to try this.. i have like 3.. still in my house.. that i assumed were empty.

XD soo excited to try this.. i just hope my microwave doesnt melt the bottle. :/

  • Very cool! So much product left that most people would just throw away! It looks just like the MAC painterly paint pot when it's in the jar

  • The primer looks gross when you're scraping it D: Lol

  • i've done this, but instead of microwaving it (because i wasn't sure if it would melt the plastic) i jut put it in some hot water :)

  • Think this would work with UD concealer? I just got the Surreal Skin concealer.. I'm tempted to try this.. I think a little MAC sample jar would travel better than the full size concealer bottle.

  • this is AMAZING.

  • Thankiu for showing this, mine was not udpp but a liquid concealer bottle.didnt realize it was rubber stopper:)

  • They finally have new packaging! It's like a toothpaste tube now :)

  • so much of it came out! and then i decided to cut it open too just to make sure and there was even more stuck in the top! it barely fit into the jar i put it in :O thanks for this it really helped :)

  • uhm, putting plastic in the micro wave can give you cancer (if you have a plastic food container and decide to heat up your food).... idk if the same rules apply to using products that have been microwaved in plastic but i wudnt chance it :S i think u shud heat water up in the micro wave if you prefer and then put the bottle in it and it wil melt it just as effectively :)

  • @BlushRushBeauty dude honestly everything you do or eat gives u cancer, theres no point trying to worry about it somuch

  • OMG! there was so much in there! haha i was suprised.

  • I just de-potted mine and OMG! Craaaaazy!

  • This was very helpful, I am definitely going to try this method out! Thanks!

  • wow!

  • Does this work with Elfs Eye Lid primer?

  • I love this idea! I love the bottle the primer comes in & would just hate to cut it! Lol :)

  • never mind spoke to soon

  • dont throw it away cut it in half anad youll find lots no joke

  • Yay! Thanks for sharing. Such a great idea.

  • wait< so quick question: can you do this to lotion bottles too? I have aveeno moisturizer and i was wondering if i could microwave that too :P

  • i am so excited to try this tecnique do you think the urban decay primer potion (sin)?

Please let me know Hugs and Kisses :)

  • so this will not blow up my microwave? lol

  • This seriously helped me!! I just watched ur video and i got all the primer out of the tube which is 1 yr old and i thot there was none left

  • @Blonde4everXOX Thats awesome!!!! I am SO glad it helped you :)

    Hugs

    Hil

  • wow oyou are sooo smart!!!! perfect way to save money for a little while more!!!

  • Can You Make A Video Of Depotting A Liquid Foundation From A Glass Packaging ? Such As NYC Smooth Skin Liquid Foundation . HELP . !

  • Great idea :) I absolutely love your nails in this video. Do you have a tutorial on that design? If not, can you please do one. They are so fun and I love the colors. Thanks!

  • cus u put it in a glass of boiling water?\

  • Thank you for the tip. I will definitely try it.

  • much better than using the knife method, this is easier aswell ! :)

  • I understand she did not wanted to use a knife, but I also would have liked to see her just cut it and see if that method got all the primer out of the tube. Just to see which method is best to get the most out of. but smart idea :]

  • I did your way, it worked so well! I'm am going to use this method everytime and tell my friends and family! Thank you so much!

  • @JunieCouture Awesome!!! Thank you for sharing, I am so happy you like this technique!

    Hugs,

    Hilary

  • LOVE THISS METHOD!!! lol favorited

  • @lxlstephbabie Awe thank you so much!!!

    hugs,

    Hilary

  • Damn...I already went through two without knowing I could do this. Damn you, Urban Decay! Straight to hell!!!! lol

  • @ITSrainingRAINA - dwl lol

  • The plastic didn't melt into your make up?

  • @TheBlondebabe19 Nope! not at all! you only warm it for a little while just so it gets off the sides. :)

  • where can you get an empty jar?

  • @welalie You can use one you already have, just clean it out well. Or you can go to coastalscents(dot)com and purchase some :)

  • @HilsHeavenScents ok thank you very much! :)

    ill go check it out

  • @welalie ANY beauty supplys store like ULTA

  • Wow! What a neat idea! So it did not alter the primer at all? Fantastic :) I will definitely try this out when I run into the same problem with mine. So far I have had the same tube for 6 months and it STILL comes out with the wand without any altering :P haha

  • Wow! What a neat idea! So it did not alter the primer at all? Fantastic :) I will definitely try this out when I run into the same problem with mine. So far I have had the same tube for 6 months and it STILL comes out with the wand without any altering :P haha

  • OMG I saw this and just tried it and it worked splendidly! Thanks so much you saved me from having to borrow money for a new one!

  • I am really bummed, I bought a new one a threw the old one away :-( I will try this next time, thank you very much!

  • I wish i saw this video before I cut mine. LOL Def will try this next time i depot something. Thank you! (:

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!

im so afraid of knifes and this worked great for me.

    thank you!:D

  • love your nails!!

  • PLEASE answer! Did it dry out?

  • @peacegolucky i wanna know too! that was my first thought. if it dries out then whats the point in using thick UD primer that's going to NOW crease??

  • @NecroticCadaver No mine stayed creamy, just make sure you use a nice air tight jar and close it up as soon as you use it :)

    Hugs~!

  • @peacegolucky No, Mine didn't dry out at all. Just make sure you use a nice air tight jar :)

  • @HilsHeavenScents mine did but it was about a year old

  • Do you know what wattage your microwave is?

  • Could you do the same thing with concealer?

  • @lovelylesliee Yes you can :)

  • That's incredible.

I was considering purchasing a new one, but after seeing your video, I'm going to get to work!

    Thank youuu! :)

  • does it work exactly the same out of the bottle? i just bought one and i dont want to depot it then end up it being a waste then having to get a new one cuase they are kinda expensive

  • your nails are awesome!

  • @abcterrorsquad Awe thanks!

  • after i depoted my udpp i noticed it dried up in the jar . what can i do to soften it up & i dont wanna throw it away because theres alot of product left .

  • do you need to use a glass jar?? please respond

  • @mlovesjustinb Hi there,

Nope, plastic or glass.. just make sure the lid screws on tight to keep air out :)

    Thanks for watching!

    hilary

  • @mlovesjustinb no you do not! any container it could be plastic

  • So did putting in the microwave change the wearablitly primer?

  • @hollascala No not at all :)

  • this reminds me of the michellephan video for lipsticks. Both girls amazing at what they do, very clever! heehee. my makeup is now home to the microwave. Its a little scary i fell like it will melt but it never has. :)

  • WOW, this is amazing!! I've been thinking about getting the primer potion for a really long time, and I'll definately do this once I've got one :-)

  • if you still have tht empty prime potion thing, you should cut it open to se that you got it all out!

  • Oh, never mind!! You answered my question later in the video. I wasn't done watching it, haha =P

  • So wait... you have to microwave it for 1.5 minutes, not 20 seconds?

  • WOW look at all tht product.

  • thank you! All those who cut open the tube don't realize that they are getting tiny slivers of plastic in their primer. So not healthy!I don't have Urban decay, but I do have another that has a wand and stopper. I recently saw that urban decay might have a tube version available. Why do they put product like this in things with wands? ridiculous.

  • CUTE NAILS!!!!

  • thank u sooo much...i had no idea that plastic stopper was there...im gonna see what other products have stoppers on them so that i can get my money's worth...n btw ur nails look AMAZING!!!

  • Man, I'm surprised you're not getting comments to show more than just your hands. I guess guys don't watch makeup videos too much.

  • @theboombody LOL!

  • how did you get the primer potion to look soo neat in the jar at 4:56

  • @nicolleesaysxo I just tapped it on the counter really hard a few times. :)

  • i love your nails!!!

  • @lillmisspretty Thanks so much!

  • NAIL TUTORUAL PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • @ayitsnellie Coming soon :)

  • Wow, Really Clean Microwave!

  • YAY! They have a squeeze bottle now!!!

  • love ur nails!!!!!

  • u can also bend the wand to get it to reach the sides of the bottle :)

  • this was a good video, i enjoyed it, and it was a safer way of opening the primer potion :)

    btw, i LOVE your nails,

    their gorgeous :) xx

  • Comment removed

  • cute nails

  • omg this is such a good method and idea! i didnt want to cut my primer potion bottle up so im going to do this instead! :)

  • Great idea! I am wondering if dipping the UDPP into a cup of hot water would achieve the same results. I am thinking of Michelle Phan's tutorial on how to get to the last of your lipgloss video. P.S. Love your nails!!

  • look at how much was left in there due to silly packaging!! thank you, i will totally be rocking this!!!!

  • Very good idea, seeing as it's so expensive!

  • Oh my gosh thank you so much! I just got UDPP and it lasted you six months so i'll definatly do this because im young and I dont want to hurt myself with a sharp knife!

  • Awesome, subscribed!

  • Does putting it in the little jar ever make it dry up? I just bought a new one and want to put it in one but i dont want it to dry out or anything.

  • @CxChaos23 no, well it would dry if you put it in a little plastic container, so get a glass one!

  • thanks! now i'll know what to do without using a knife XD

  • I've heard about the "removing the stopper" technique, but you are the first I've seen to use the microwave to de-pot UDPP. I haven't gotten any UDPP because of the packaging, I'll probably get Too Faced Shadow Insurance before because I like the tube packaging better. Until UDPP changes their packaging, I won't be getting it. This tip will definitely help out the many that already have it ;-). I've seen NYX jumbo eye pencils "de-penciled" (LOL) this way, so it is a neat technique.

  • Either would work fine, just make sure the lid goes on tight to prevent it from drying out.

  • when you put the plactic jar in the microwave did it smell bad?

  • Mine didn't.. I would just make sure not to put it in for too long.. that may make the plastic melt and result in a smell.

  • @PilarJustine i put my in plastic it's fine

  • hahah eyebrow pluckers

  • LOL, I know.. I had a brain fart lol!

  • @HilsHeavenScents lol! :)

  • how can you tell if its ready in the microwave?

  • Just try tapping it out.. heat it in 20 second intervals until it is warm enough.

  • great video!!! thanks for sharing with us!!! i didn't want to cut mine open. i can't believe how much product was left in the bottle!!

  • Thank you so much :)

  • I'd say that there was still some more product in the container, you did get most of it out though. I would still recommend (except for those younger children or those who just dont want to use knives) the knife method (: Good video

  • @ATLluver77 Actually I did end up cutting just to see what was left and it was empty :))

  • @HilsHeavenScents Oh, that's good!

  • Can you do a nail tutorial on your nails?

or did you go to a salon?

  • my primer potion is depoted but is drying out what can i do to fix it up ? u_u!!!!

  • @marrona86 you have to put it in a glass jar. only glass will keep it from drying! :)

  • @jihanem why will it dry in a plastic container when it comes in a plastic container to begin with?

  • @marrona86 spray some mac fix plus, just one spray should last you a while. just squirt one or even just a half pump into the jar it's in and it will bring it back to life!

  • Great tip!

  • OMG!!!! I just did this! It only took 5 minutes!! You helped me soooooo much!! THanks!

  • Oooo nail tutorial!!

  • That's INCREDIBLE! I thought it was empty, but then you pulled all that product out! Amazing! Thanks for the video!!!

  • Just tried it out and it works, I've just filled a small travel pot with what I thought was an almost empty tube, I'm very pleased, and no sharp things involved, marvellous. Thanks very much.

  • I warmed mines in the microwave (your method) but I still cut it open anyway to scoop out all of it. I had to be absolutely sure I got all of the stuff out because...there is ALOT of the product left inside. warming it up does make it smoother & creamy, rather than thick & pasty.

  • @2twoshakes did you take out the plastic thing she had she removed before doing this?

  • love ur nails

  • i subbed :DD . return the favor ?

  • where can you buy those tiny clear jars ?

  • what temperature was your microwave on? :)

  • Wow! I cannot believe how much product came out of there! I just think of all the product thrown away every day. : / I came across your video trying to find a video on how to depot tinted moisturizer or foundation. Can that be my request? : P My make-up/fashion channel hit the 100 subscription mark so I am running a giveaway contest for the month of April I'd love it if you came and participated.

  • Going to try this out when my tiny one runs out.

  • Hi can you tell me where i can get the Urban Decay primer potion ?

  • @kaleon96 at any ulta or sephora :D

  • @alherlop Thank you !

  • Hey, I am a big fan by the way, but there is a better way to store the UDPP once you get it all out of the tube. Storing it in those sample/travel bottles will allow it to dry up...sooooo, go and get an empty lip gloss pen tube and put it in there. U can find them at wholesale cosmetics websites. Its air tight and then you can just apply it with the brush tip anytime you need to use it. Just thought i would let you know. keep up the good work and keep those tutorials coming! ;)

  • this is great! i'm definitely going to try this, mainly because i don't want to cut the pretty bottle.. :)

  • Love your nails!!!

  • i love this!

  • has it dried out since its being exposed to the hair with every use?

  • Well, the one I depotted is all used up. But it stayed fine :))

  • does it still work the same thing?

  • Yep!

  • Great video thanks for sharing

  • i wish i knew howto do this when i depotted my urban decay primer potion ....it makes it less viscious

  • urban decay changed the wand... i would like to know if it really works

  • Really love your videos

  • Thanks :))

  • i like this idea but i just dont understand surely UD has realized the packaging is cute, but not very practical. so lame. thanks for this

  • @pantalonesnegro They know, they don't care. They know that you can't get to the product in the fat part of the bottle, and lots of people don't care enough to take the time to depot, they instead purchase a new one, thus making UD more money. For this reason, I use Two Faced Shadow Insurance. It's basically the same-works the same, but you can actually use it all.. I've had one for six months and it's still not gone.

  • what heat setting should you put the microwave on?! The lowest setting or a high setting?x

  • Well, with mine I just put in the time and started it. So if you have to choose a setting I would start with low and go from there :))
