I had class with Wade back in 4th grade. I still remember vividly seeing the smoke cloud from my bedroom window after school. That image, and the sadness at Roosevelt the next day will be things I will never forget.
I would just like to say thank you to the up-loader of this video. I was a volunteer fireman, and on my way to becoming a full fledged fireman when this happened. I was on the unit that found the two young boys, it was impacting in ways that the human mind cant understand unless you are unlucky enough to experience something of this nature first hand, you wont. Thank you for putting a face to each one of those beautiful boys. One that wont haunt my dreams.
The pipeline company I work for shows the news report for this story to the new employees. I cried when I heard about the young boy telling his mom not to look at him because his burns were so bad before he died.
Hey blackratbobmastic Your a fucking asshole. i Grew up with all three of these boys went to school with them, played sports with them. Know one gives a shit about your parents house. If you are the one who got your house rebuilt right behind the car dealership your a rich fuck who can go to hell. So why dont you go cry about it somewhere else you stupid fuck
i actually flew into seattle and my father and grandmother picked me up that day and as soon as we got to bellingham about an hr later it exploded it was a very sad and somber day in bellingham and those 3 boys are in all of our prayers
crazy i moved here like 3 monthes after and everyone was still hella crazy about this i never really expierenced how much this affected everyone here. when we got here and heard about it i was like "shits getting real here" :O especially after that clarke shit and 2 year old gettin hit dayum
WE NEED TO HOLD THE EXECS RESPOSIBLE FOR THEIR DEATHS. UNTIL WE STAND UP AND FIGHT THE REVOLUTIN FOR REAL THIS TIME AND MAKE THIS A FREE COUNTRY, THE LOWLIFE SCOM WILL CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS TYPE OF MURDER. SPREAD THE WORD AND MAKE PEOPLE WAKE THE FUCK UP, WE LOST THE WAR FOR FREEDOM, SO WE MUST FIGHT IT AGAIN, "NOW"!!!!!
If it wasn't for a fireman I will never know it would have been 4 victims.I was right on the bridge going over the creek after getting off work when the fireman jumped in front of me to wave me off as he was running away from the bridge.Right then the explosion hit, lifting my small car up a bit and blasting my ears.I drove like a mad man trying to get away from this monster .One of the scariest moments in my life.I went into underground locating years later to try and stop things like this .
I'm glad someone made a video informing people of what happened. this was a sad, sad day. I went to school with both the younger boys, they would have graduated with me in 2007.
I'm glad someone made a video informing people of what happened. this was a sad, sad day. I went to school with both the younger boys, they would have graduated with me in 2007.
i really dont see the point in this video. im sorry to say it but no matter how many videos you guys put on here its not gonna help the boys are gone. thats life deal with it. dont downgrade somebody elses occupation. plenty of eighteen year olds die a year from cars, but you sure dont put up a stupid video with creed music to talk shit to ford or dodge or gm now do you. fucking moron. and no disrespect to the three young men, it truely is terrible to see some of the disasters caused by laziness
I was horrified... I was only a block away, on the other side of Iowa St. when it happened. It shook the business building I was in and when I stood outside I had to look up high to see the whole wall of black smoke in front of us.
Corporate Bigs making money at our expense! I hope the families got paid on this one! No excuse for their mistake that cost the lives of three innocents.
This may me sad but I mean it was 9 years ago. Kids die in tragic ways every day. I mean why not make the video like a week after it happened not 9 fucking years. Get over it
man i remember this like it was yesterday, i was ten when it happened we could see the smoke from our front yard (i live in ferndale) we thought mount saint helens blew again but it was to close, very tragic.
To clarify any confusion, the leak was definitely unleaded gasoline, it was being pumped south from the two Ferndale refineries towards Seattle via one of several lines that run through Whatcom County. This was not a natural gas leak (totally different pipelines, although they sometimes share the same right-of-way), and had nothing to do with Cascade Natural Gas (the local gas utility), other than the fact that the fire in the creek was directly behind their business offices on Iowa St.
No it wasn't. It was gasoline. Screwed up the supply all over the Sound. More gas trucks and gas barges and tankers.... Time Oil across from Ballard had a small tanker unloading gas after this because the pipeline was broken.
@theropingeffect Wrong. It is. All over the world, too. Gasoline. This was gasoline. Go look for the Bellingham Herald story, or the Ferndale Record Journal story, or Historylink. As to the shortage, there was a bit of one.
Well here in Whatcom County gasoline is produced at oil refineries like BP or Conoco Phillps. I don't know much about natural gas but maybe you can as Cascade Natural Gas which is physically located in Bellingham were the explosion occured.
i was when this happened also. my sister had just got out of the park when this happened she walked home from school through the park. she knew wade king. i remember when i felt the rumble go through bellingham and wondering what it was. also they forgot to mention they were playing with fire down at the creek
I remember that too cause it was the day of my 8th grade Tea, and I remember I was going to McDonalds on King Street and My mom turned the corner and I started screaming and crying and My mom was like "WHAT!!!?" and I was like "MT. BAKER EXPLODED!!!!"
Pipelines in America aren't regulated very well. They seem to rupture more then necessery becuase of something that wasn't corrected. In Canada it's regulated to the point where you could hardly sneeze on a pipe without haveing it cut out, re welded and x-rayed. I keep seeing these cases in the states where money and time oversaw repairs or running a smart pig through once and a while to check for corroded pipe. Canada has a bomber and the states has less reguation killing and injuring people.
I also want to clarify one thing, unlike the video would lead you to believe the two ten year olds were not just innocently playing at the creekside, the two ten year olds were playing with illegal fireworks at the creekside and are the ones who ignited the stream of gasoline coming from the pipeline. The eighteen year old Liam Wood was the innocent one in the the ten year olds were the cause of this tragedy.
Take it from someone who was there, this pipline runs right behind my parent's house and we lost our kitchen windows when this even occured. While tragic the ten year olds losing the life was, had they not been playing lighters and fireworks all three youths would still be alive today.
pipelines run all around us you can't stop them believe it or not it is the safest mode to transport gas, diesel etc.Sad for those boys, they died due to ignorance by pipeline operators.i am one and i get nervous to this day running pipelines.this stuff runs through peoples back yards.
I was in the same class as Wade King at the time, the day before this i told him to drop dead...
