  • i never had the honour of seeing donnie sorry to say bruce was ok but not the same magic in his voice all so i love to hear the gaelic songs no clue what they mean but very haunting

  • A shame Donnie turned out to be a Unionist and would sell Scotland down the river for London rule.

  • @BonnieBlueFlag1314 take your politics to fuck you boring arsehole. Sick watching these videos and having to read shite comments like this.

  • @BroKaramazov Don't read them then, I don't want you getting upset. Poor wee thing. XD

  • @BonnieBlueFlag1314 you'll not believe this but I don't actually know what it is I'm going to read until I've read it. Stop posting your political nonsense as if being a nationalist makes you any more of a Scot than anybody else. Like I said, you're boring.

  • @BroKaramazov Ill post whatever I like. :-) Alba gu brath :-)

  • @BonnieBlueFlag1314 yeah. The downside of the internet. Any moron can have a voice.

  • @BroKaramazov Well at least you are self aware. :-)

  • Stop with the negative comments! They are both great vocalists!

  • Bruce is o k but Donnie made Runrig His voice is so pure. Bruce cannot match him in anyway at all.

  • Somewhere, deep in my roots, I have Scottish blood. My grandma just discovered that we descend from the Rose Clan in Scotland. I am so proud!

  • @gaelwildflower welcome to the family ;-)

  • My mothers mother was Macdonald from Uist ( clanranald) her father Macdonald from Sleat. ~ That's why we're all mental.

  • @jimbob1969 My father MacDonald of Glencoe, my mother of sleat. I have the second sight, and am mad as a hatter, of course! ALBA GU BRAITH!

  • I am Canadian of Scottish Highland ancestry and runrig is absolutely amazing I feel cheated we haven't heard of them sooner, payola is shit music, but runrig's music is timeless and fantastic or as I can say in Scottish Gaelic, Glay Glay Va!! I am thankful to almighty God for my Scottish origins, hello to all my Scottish brothers accross the sea.

  • im from north uist and this brings back my longing to go home... :)xx

  • My fave song of all time.....

  • I like Donnie and the fact that he has the gaelic language, but as a singer I think I like Bruce better...I like his style..of course there are certain songs, och well ,I lik'em both...Le gach deagh dhurachd...suas i..Nach buidhe dhuinn gun dainaig e ,

  • Hi :) I would hope that Runrig will continue to sing the Gaelic songs, so the language does not disappear.

  • Get over it, Donnie AND Bruce are both awesome. All things must change........

  • Over 20 years later watching this still makes me almost burst with emotion. Great band, great songs, great gig, great video, great venue, great filming. The best thing of all was that on the night they played Siol Ghoraidh again at the end for filming purposes. Also if you go to the Barrowlands Ballroom today it hasn't changed a bit.

  • Sorry guys but I like Bruce! Different I grant you but a much mellower mood thesedays.

  • Just love this, love the Gaelic

  • couldnt agree more. Used to go and see them when Donnie was with them(he left to go into Scottish politics btw, knutkoeln)and automatically lost interest when he left. This Runrig make the hairs on my neck stand up. Does anyone else getthat thing where your love of your culture is so strong that Runrig bring a lump to your throat and tears to your eyes...a real sense of Celtic pride?(esp if youre a highlander)You know what they say...British by birth, Scottish by the grace of god. Clan BRUCE!!!

  • i cant listen to bruce sing old runrig songs it just sounds wrong!!

  • long life for Scotland!!!! Im Scotland chai!!!

  • Runrig at their best with Donnie Munro. They are not quite the same now.

  • Great group. Donnie Munro has a magnificent voice.

  • ALBA GU BRATH!

  • KA PLAAAAAAHHH

  • I went to school woth Rory and Calums cousin in Inverness and I met the guy off the Searchlight (another relative of Calum and Rory) album cover...my claim to fame when I was younger!!!

  • Siol Ghoraidh AMAZING.

  • excellent :)

  • Yn dod yn ôl at hon o hyd ac o hyd

  • ...two brilliant songs...i love donnie and i am so sad that he is gone....but bruce is also a genius..

    RUNRIG is GREAT!!!!

    greetings from germany....

  • Amazing Band I watched an concert in scotland ...

    The best band!!!!

  • Were you to see,as now I see

    Then would you feel alone.

Not I that left , you my love.

    More, that you remain behind.

    Looses a bit in translation.

    But the sentiment is there.

Turn up the volume and press play.

  • Bendigedig#, Runrig. Hrioes i'r cenedloedd a'r ieithoedd Celtaidd

  • runrig, greatest band EVER

  • brilliant songs, shame they had to dum down the best part of cnoc na feille and missed out the epic guitar solo at the end. hate it when stuff like that happens

  • In a single word 'FANTASTIC'

  • Cnoc Na Feille is my favourite Runrig song, love it!

  • this song is pure heaven, I can imagine sitting on a cloud looking down to the earth below and remembering everything good that that life has to give, + it reminds me of an x girlfriend who I loved and should never have let go, This song is pure emotion.

  • Two lovely songs - I can't wait to get this DVD!

(Typical human beings huh, chasing the unknown with guns and sticks... ah well!)

I wish they'd come play Canada!!!!

  • Both these songs are great all the old songs with donnie are the best but bruce has a good voice aswell i think before runrig call it a day which i hope never happens but they should all get 2gether 2 make a final album with all the old stuff and some of the new stuff 2 cap off a fantastic career and finish with another lochlomond gig

  • Siol Ghoraidh has to be one of my favourite Runrig songs

  • I just love when Rory and Donnie sing along side each other. This is Brilliant

  • runrig dobri ste,oooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

  • I have to agree with the comment about the band since Donnie's departure. I've nothing against Bruce, but Donnie was the mainstay of the band. They haven't been the same since he left.

  • @this0033

aye, they've been better since he left...

  • @this0033 The problem with Bruce is that he's not Scottish. He's Canadian and has this country and western music tembre in his voice that I can't cope with. For me Runrig were a symbol of Scotland and they've lost a part of this when they decided to have a singer from a different cultural backgrund. It was never about having the best or a perfect singer. It was about identity and singing in gaelic and I can't explain what else. When Donnie left, they lost their soul.

  • @this0033

Runrig without Donnie is like U2 without Bono, or Unheilig without the Graf. They were so great!!

  • @this0033 this is my oppinion too. they are not the same. Donnie has been runrig.

  • @this0033 I agree that Donnie was the moving influence of the band for a long time, but honestly for a lot of songs I prefer Guthro's voice.

  • Donnie looks so much like Dad and Calum (I think, the red haired one) looks so much I would imagine like his brother Frank but I can only imagine, Frank died when he was 6 :(

  • It's only my opinion but I think runrig are not as good since Donnie left. I have seen them many times and it aint the same

  • This is music !! I´ve seen them several times. They are great! - especialy live!

  • He talks about Clan Donald fighting, weird to think that my ancestors were involved. My Grandad's family being MacDonalds, and the other side of my family is Nellis, which are apparently derived from Clan Neill. No wonder I feel such a connection with the place!

  • Brilliant,doing us proud!True music.

  • I enjoy both songs, but I absolutely LOVE the way they presented Siol Ghoraidh. I can imagine being there...fantastic...

  • I heard one of the lead singers is from Cape Breton Island, Canada. Anyone know? I think they are brilliant. And still going strong after all these years! Visited the Outer Hebrides a few years back. All the young people there really look up to these guys.

  • great band, i only knew runrig last year and since then i've been thinking to my self, where the hell have they been all this years?

this is an old footage with Donnie Munro, just look at Calum with black hair... :)

  • Never mind the black hair - look at Malcolm Jones' LOOONG hair.... ;oD

  • I just saw this man playing live at portsoy O_O

  • I'm scottish and Fecken proud .........:D

  • Gaidhlig: love it or leave it.

  • My two Runrig favorite songs together!

Great video and great Rory's voice,

    Greetings from Spain

  • que bueno ver que a los españoles tambien le gusta Runrig!

  • ¿Que si me gustan? Me encantan!!! Ójala vengan a tocar aquí algún día...

  • Lov this song, I have been a fan of Runrig for years now, like you Geordiedworld From East Ayrshire seen the band live many times Lock Lomond never forget that, I now live in wales but Runrig keeps me in touch with my roots.

  • teuchtars with mullets, this was filmed last year in Fort William :D

  • Brilliant song, Gàidhlig at its best

  • Where have you been hiding Steven...lol Been following Runrig since the 80's, no other band comes close to them.... :-)

I'm in this video, taken many years ago...lol

Get well soon Malcolm, see ya soon pal... xxxxx

  • My mother was scottish, it is only recently I have discovered my passion and roots for scotland, still never to late, lol.

  • Only just heard of this band and I love what I hear, could listen forever

  • I'm Scots as are all my family going back generations. Love all of Runrig's work, listened to it for years, but as I'm from the southwest (Ayrshire, although generations back from Argyll), was never exposed to gaelic / taught it at school. Does anybody know a good internet source of the english translations of Runrigs gaelic music as its kinda crazy that after all these years of appreciating their music I still struggle to grasp the lyrics of the gaelic songs ..

  • Try the Sabhal Mor Ostaig ("Shool mor ostich") on the Ilse of Skye.

    BTW, I´m German...

  • I'm moroccan but i like gaelic songs , my favourites bands are irish & scottish, when i disovered Runrig & their beautiful and pround music i falled in love with it : )

Well done , the band still great even if Donnie Munro was gone !

  • Lessdone, that is correct. Donnie named his son Calum after his friend Calum MacDonald, and Calum named his son Donald after Donnie Munro.

  • It's called a patronymic.

  • great song by the greateast band 2 come out of scotland and ther still rockin our shores

  • Great song

    Great band

    Great album

  • Is that really possible? I had no idea...

  • Rory MacDonald has two daugthers (Katie is one), Calum MacDonald has three kids: Donald, Eilidh and Rachel.

  • Wait a second - wouldn't this mean that Calum's son is named Donald MacDonald? That's kind of weird... ;)

  • I could be wrong but I heard that Calum's Donald is named after Donnie and one of Donnie's sons is named Calum in return.

  • SUPERB-THANK YOU!

  • no don't be british and proud, be SCOTTISH and proud saor alba

  • @saltydog16 AMEN!!!!!!!!!

  • @saltydog16

Great, but why had Donnie left this Band. My German is better:

Warum hat Donnie die Band verlassen? One of the greatest bands´s forever!!

  • @saltydog16 Today, this is not Runrig. Nothing against the new Singer. He tries the best, but please. please let Donnie come back!! He was the Voice of Runrig!! A former Fan, until Donnie comes back!! But than, Runrig forever!!

  • @icebear1405 No offence... but it was Donnie who left the band to become a politician... Imo Bruce is a good singer too, diferent than Donnie, definately, but not bad.

  • @tinasiig no defence.. but it was Donnie´s voice what made them great. Of course Bruce is a good singer, not bad. And I wish, Donnie would come back. And the reasons, why Donnie left the band may be his personal, but i´m missing him (excuse me for my bad english)

  • @saltydog16

    You can be both.

  • genius

  • I love Runrig too, I am tying to find the name of a piano tune they played at end of one of the 'new' lineup cds. Anybody steer me in the right direction please

  • runrig are brilliant, no question. but what the f u c k has ireland got to do with this?

  • Brilliant song, Gàidhlig at its best

  • i love runrig and i love ireland this band is the greatest

  • eh Ireland sucks!

Be scottish/British and proud.....none of this Ireland crap.

    Scotland the Brave

  • Yes, Ireland is lovely too, though Runrig are Scottish :) :)

  • Yeah Rory MacDonald has the best voice. It's beautiful and heartfelt! I think he should do more of the lead vocals now, like he used to on their earlier gaelic albums. I think the MacDonald brothers make Runrig! Does anyone know if they are married with families in Skye or what?

  • Hey, Joanie--I was wondering the same, LOL!

    Debra ;D

  • Sign up to the fanclub thing? Some of that info is actually included in the welcome thing they send you haha

I think the MacDonald brothers are both married with two/three kids each. :)

  • Thanks..I've been meaning to do that (when I've got the cash!) Yeh just got their dvd and on the extra bits it tells us Rory is married with 2 daughters and Calum has two daughters and one son. Great username bye the way, Siol Ghoraidh is my absolute favourite Runrig song!

  • Hi, Joanie--It's Debra, your "competition" for the MacDonald brothers, LOL! So you've also learned that they're taken--O whatever shall we do??? We'll always have YouTube (and our dreams!) ;D

    xxx

  • Even if you don't understand Gaelic, you can almost hear the rallying cry echoed in the song. Brilliant expressive song.

  • Deoghail am fallus bhàrr duine mharbh siadha tiadhan

  • i love the band

  • you have no clue, runrig were my life, were followed everywhere, holland, germany take your pick?????

  • My Grandfather was a Macdonald originally from Sleat and he married a Macdonald from North Uist[ my granny obviously ]..interesting because his family were never really accepted completely ... maybe this goes back to that battle they talked about...I'm actually related to Calum and Rory in some way...

  • And my friend's English teacher too!

My closest MacDonald relation is my great great great great Grandma's brother's great grandchild married one. LOL. :-)

  • Lucky you!!! I adore Runrig--especially the MacDonald brothers. Brilliant songwriters and musicians. A relatively new fan, I'm just beginning to distinguish Donnie's voice from Bruce's; in my humble opinion, they're both wonderfully gifted singers. Donnie's pure voice soars; Bruce's voice is earthy and gritty. But we mustn't overlook Rory--something about his voice tugs at my heart when he sings lead...

    Respect from an American lass!

  • I TOTALLY agree with you about Rory's voice. It's beautiful and heartfelt! I think he should do more of the lead vocals now, like he used to on their earlier gaelic albums. I think the MacDonald brothers make Runrig!

  • THIS is classic runrig. Listening to this it´s hard to believe that they also did stuff like "Every river" or "The greatest flame".

  • There's something about Gaelic and it's related languages that I just love. I can't speak it but the sound is musical in of itself. That bit with the drums around 3 min into the song sounds a bit like it's Native American.

  • I ordered this documentary from the internet and it arrived today :)

I spent the whole day watching it, it's absolutely brilliant.

  • i love it!

  • I just love the scottish! Scotland forever!

If i just could undestand gaelic....I love lisening to this wonderful sounding language!

    Scotland´s the best!

  • Chan eil e cho cruaidh (it's not so hard).

  • :]:]

  • This reminds me of Uist.

  • are you from Uist? .. my grandparents are from Kirkebost and claddach illeray

  • One of the best Runrig songs ever composed.

agus .. Vótáil an Pàrtaidh Nàiseanta na h-Alba!

  • Runrig aren't about politics, so that shit shouldn't be said when talking about their music. They were great back in the days with Donnie Munro, and I have some great memories of seeing them and I still love some of their songs, but they're still going good and in my opinion they're still the best Scottish band, even though I prefer a different style of music, but they've always sounded good.

  • I wish donnie munro would join the band again. Runrig are not the same without him

  • true they are not, but he chose the british labour party over Runrig, turning his back on his fans, runrig and Scotland.

  • Hang on!! That guy with the timber looks a bit like Aly Bain!:P

  • Some of these comments are stupid.

Personally, I am so proud when I read comments from Americans, Danes, Germans etc praising our country and peopl and if some of them have Scottish blood then good on them.

As far as I am concerned, if you are born in the USA to Scottish parents, with a long line of Scottish ancestors then you're pretty much a Scot.

  • Amen.

Once a Scot always a Scot.

  • Echt Geile Musik.....ich war in Köln auf dem Konzert...Gänsehaut ohne Ende...echt Super!!!

  • I think what Run Rig shared with their music was a link with the culture they were brought up in. They made it cool to speak (Scots) Gaelic to lots of young people who used to think it was only a sign of backwardness. The pride they show with their music is something that everyone can aspire to - the only boundaries are what you let be put up. Alba Gu Brath!

  • great songs but all songs of Runrig are great , does anyone has a video of Dreamfields it's a song I got to know by my Australian friend, and it always makes me cry

    Love and be LOved

  • I love all Gàidhlig (Scottish Gaelic) and Gaeilge (Irish Gaelic) music, but this song has to be one of my all time favourites. It is one spiritual tune, and Runrig are amazing.... God bless them!

  • Go raibh míle maith agat!!! ;)

  • is as eire liom an tire is fearr go dti a thagann an sasannaigh an bearla bastars agus anois is english an teanga a caint gach duine BRITS O-FUCKIN'UT

  • Tha mise a' tuigsinn gum bheil sibhse a' faireachdainn meadhanach bronach -- no mosach -- ach chan eil e ceart a radh rudan mar seo... Tha sinn uile anseo oir tha sinn airson na h-orain eisdeachd...

  • Agh t'eh kiart, ta'n Sostnagh er brishey ram keck ayns ny çheeraghyn Gaelgagh. Cre'n aght dy lhisagh shin ve cho coar daue dy doaltattym? Er-y-fa dy vel yn çhengey oc ain nish?

  • dydy hi ddim yn weld fel iaith yr alban, mwy fel manaweg i fi.

  • Dé an canan a tha sin? An e Gàidhlig Eilean Mhannain a th'ann?

What language is that? Is it Manx?

    :)

  • no, its cymraeg (welsh)

  • its gaelic you arse

  • AshLiiid, if you're gonna contradict someone and be snide about it, at least be a bit more thoughtful. It's Gàidhlig (one of the Gaelic languages). Gàidhlig (Scottish), Gaeilge (Irish), Manx (Isle of Man). So you see it's not just Gaelic, it's Gàidhlig!!

  • I find this interesting; one comments in Manx, and responses are given in Welsh and Scottish Gaelic. Very well done!

  • Is duine Canaideanach a th'annam, agus is toigh leam Runrig gu leor...tha gaol agam orra nach bi mise gan cluinntinn gu h-uabhasach...

(For English speakers: I'm a Canadian, and I LOVE Runrig. I miss not hearing them a lot!)

  • Mise cuideachd tha mi bho Chanada, chan eil an ceòl aca ro olc ach s'toil leam modhan eile.

  • I was to the Runrig concert yesterday in Frederikshavn (DK)

And it hurt me a lot, that they only played one gaelic song.

If that is their plan, I whish that Donnie was back in Runrig. Anyway it was a great concert. :-)

  • The few that still speak some derivative of old celtic are all this world has left of one of its first great civilizations and would, I should think, be flattered that others want to learn from them and welcome them into the fold. Language defines culture and arguably the world would be a better a place with a few more Celts in it. This band achieves far more than entertainment, by generating interest in Gaidhlig they are helping to keep an entire culture alive and vibrant.

  • Hi all I married a Scotish lass afew years ago and I had an intro to Runrig then. I think their music is first class as I am a celt also and a proud Cornishman living in the west country (One And All)

  • My two favourite Runrig songs. I have no idea what the words/lyrics are, but it doesn't matter! :o)

  • This kind of music is Scotland and the Scottish people., Only a Scot really can feel this;;; LOVE IT

  • Hi dercarsus :-)

Then I MUST have a lot of scottish blood in my veins, even I'm danish, 'cause I CAN feel.

  • listen mate, i have no problemo with you and your kind liking runrig, but but dont ever think your Scottish.

  • Hi john. (I'm a danish girl)I'm sorry, if I had hurt your feelings, but I have a little bit of scottish blood in me, 'cause long time ago in my family tree there was some scottish family members and some of them traveled to Denmark. ;-) And I can sing some of Runrig's songs in gaelic. Have a nice evening. :-)

  • Your nationality, is where you were brought up in and where you would consider home, but ive no problem with that

  • Well most of the Western Isles were Norse/Gaelic ...mainly Norwegian so that's probably the connection you feel.

  • i went to see them in dumfries, scotland on this tour. 1st time i saw them live. amazing!. followed them and donnie munro since.

  • Heck's sake!! It's music! Everyone can feel it! Especially gaelic music as it's all from the heart! But everyone can feel it! Whatever their 'nationality', i'm scottish and introduced runrig to many friends of various nationalities, including Sierra Leone, and they felt the same thrill and sense of pride that I do!

  • AMEN, santiano42! Runrig's music is brilliant and universally appealing, transcending nationality, generations and politics!

Love this song, this vid and this band...

God bless Scotland and Runrig forever!

  • I love this band ...is an pity you never come to Brasil I watched an live concert in Scotlant Iaian you teach to me love this band and teach me gaelic ..kisses Runrings ans Scottish people.

  • I love this band especially when I'm homesick (99.9% of the time)and i now appreciate how great Scotland is and have noticed that people respond better to me because of the scottish accent than they do to my non scottish friends and that is in my eyes an amazing tribute to our country that we are held in such a high regard

  • Too right! Don't it's not the Scots who have the identity crisis. I'm not Brittish, I'm a Scot. The Scots made the U.K, a Scot invented TV. We're pretty important to history. I'm even having a Reiteach.. eventually.

  • I`m Scottish born and bred. Instead of knocking Americans who want to think their lineage still has a tie to Scotland, folks should be damn proud they think that way! Gotta be better than thinking the country sucks hasn`t it?

  • I love this gaelic music. Are there other bands around that play that style? I've been to Scotland twice and hope to get back soon! Love your land and the people!

  • I live south of the border and am trying to learn Gaelic, a language which many people don't know about around here. I also find Runrig's songs good to help my pronounciation.

  • They are very good to listen to; they're native Gaelic speakers.

  • Hi all you scot' you have my respect. And you have all reason to be proude of your land. I'm very happy that our lovely Danish Royal family have got our two countries closer, when Mary was merried to crown prince Frederik. Even I'm from the northern part of Denmark, who has it's own flag (blue, with a green and orange cross)I'm trying to learn gaelic, it's diffelcult, but I'm getting better, with big help from Runrigs music. And the best of all, my sweetheart is scotish. ;-) Have a nice day. ;-)

  • Leave these yanks alone! As Scots we are renowned for our welcoming, tolerant nature, and that wasn't v friendly! My dad has lived in Scotland nearly 50 years and considers himself accepted as a Scot. As thats longer than I've been on this earth who'm I to argue?

  • I don't classify myself as scottish, I am an American, I want to be in Scotland though. For those that may have misunderstood me...

  • If you weren't born in Scotland, you're not a Scot. Bottom line.
