Too bad Facebook got swayed to the dark side and Microsoft convinced them to build Facebook Connect.

Money tends to do that, sway people that is.

I am impressed with GFC though, adding Twitter links, and 30 social bookmarking sites to the default widget.

i like the idea, but i think it should be called something like "visitor connect" because it's really targeted more at people who run public sites than the friendly bunch of people that want to interact with one another on the site.

it initially sounded to me like a facebook wannabe, and it's not... quite. the shared id thing is... good for some sites, maybe not for others. mind you, there's nothing to say that the external id is publically visible... or maybe there is?
