The little Cutscene you can activate with "START" shown at 8:37 in the Bottom left Hand Corner of the Screen, How do you get Audio/Sound on those Cutscenes? because Whenever I Press "START" on those, I get No Sound. Is that exclusive to the Japanese version?
i never played this in ps2, but im not really sure if i should buy it or not (some ppl saying that is not that good in 3ds), i love rpg and i dont care much about graphics i think that story and gameplay are more important so... should i buy it or not?

@paradave117 well its just that 3ds games have low resolutions. maybe one day nintendo will make a firmware that raises the 3ds resolution, taking away the 3d aspect.. (one can only dream) i mean the resolution on the 3ds is there, its just that it has to mirror images of the game.

@wurmi32 I played PS2 version like 20 times, when it comes to gamplay the PS2 one was one of the best games ever made. The DS graphics look ALMOST the same, they added some new level designs from what i saw on YT. The music was epic, and thank god it remained the same. The great improvement you can see at 8:46. On the original ps2, there were no voices in these. You had to read them. I'm sure it has some other upgrades, but it will be epic, nonetheless.
@HyperVegitoDBZ its even a little better. My camera just isn't that good to capute it. The english versions of ToA did not have voices on skits, japanese version did, so wasn't new in this. There weren't any upgrades besides getting the specials that NA version had but jpn didn't.
@superearthbender really depends on thet game. Some can look better than wii, some lower than GC. And it didn't take a graphic drop. Its sharper and a little prettier than the original version, just not a whole lot. Its a slightly imporved port
@Sumwheat Not hating on the system but from what i saw the sharpness made it look a tincy bit worse in my opinion i will say the colors have more life in em though, not as dull as before, but like you said it's dependent on the game i'm guessing because even though most people complain about OOT being a classic you can't deny it looks sweet with 3ds graphics.
@superearthbender I the graphics are roughly the same id say, but the resolution of the 3ds screens are lower than that of the ps2 so it cant get the same kind of picture clarity, it does get 3d though :p

@narutovichigo I looked up something after I posted and it said the 3DS had the capability of producing more triangles than the Wii, 1.5 times or something. It's because the screen resolution is low, but Idk. *shrug*
@narutovichigo The Gamecube beats the PS2 for sure. And the 3DS is on par with Gamecube, maybe even better. Of course it "cheats" thanks to the low screen resolution, but some effects seen in Mario 3D Land weren’t possible on the GC.

@KillaTundant No, Graphics are the Polygon count, which can be abstracted no matter the resolution. I was referring to the polygon count having dropped, as it seems it did. It also looked like there were less background graphical items.

@harombee one 3ds the game was down sized. two split in two for 3d. smoother can mean blurry. makeing somthing that wasnt hd or high quality and is made higher tend to get those jagged edges. and i think the 3ds one has higher color or somthing or that video i saw comaring the two was off.

How does the game fare of the technical side? In terms of graphics comparison and slowdowns?
Also I'm familiar with the Tales of series but I've never played this one, is it like Symphonia where you have a overworld to travel or is it just a list of locations to choose where you want to go?
@ldcanete Well in the ps2 game there was lag on the overworld at times and bad load times, even in the same building. That's supposedly fixed. Looking at this and at PS2, this looks slightly downgraded, SLIGHTLY. Like in this version the you can notice pixels in the outer edges of things which I do not believe was in the PS2 version. Everything else is basically the same, no added gameplay or anything. So it's basically all technical stuff fixed for an extremely slight graphical downgrade.
@KitchenerBombSquad this is the very start area, only have like 2 special attacks at this lvl, I was rushingat that time as well so have close to nothing, and you will eventually get the move freely skill so its not just back and forth
Oh yeah, Tear learned First Aid! xD Oh, I was so looking forward to see Jade using Indignation xD So glad my favorite part of the Tales game is still in, I was so worried they might have to crop it out, the skits. Imma go buy a 3DS just for this game!

Did they add anything new story wise to this game like they did with previous Tales port games like ToV, ToG:F, ToS cause I'm really hoping they did & this just isn't a straight port of the PS2 version for the 3DS cause that would just suck to me.

@Kennetkd My keyblade laid on a box, Digital Camera facing down thru the key part and have by bag below that, put a dry erase board over that, sit awkwardly/painfully and hold the 3DS while resting on the board for stability and play XD
can't wait for in to come out in NA. Looks like the only Tales game to come out to NA on a Nintendo console that's good. ToI looks great but it was never released in NA :/
@kkgladeslider I've played this for the PS2. I believe this is the best tales of game hands down when it comes to storyline and character development. The ending of this game was so beautiful, it almost made me cry.

@AnimeSage285 Nothing in ToA really pops out, like other 3DS games its mostly just about depth. Map and such doesn't feel all the great of depth, but battles are pretty nice, probably cause you're looking down during map movement while in battles, you have that lower angle and the HP/SP bars are up to the screen so more stuff on screen at an angle where you can look where things are and how far part from eachother so get more of a feeling of depth there.
Btw for the PS2 version switching between Mieu Fire Wings and the one for breaking Rocks =R2 to switch between them.
But how to do that on the 3DS since a R2 button doesn't exist?
Also the PS2 version the teleport function to fly to a previously visited area required to use the R3 button to bring up the map screen but the 3DS doesn't have such a button so how do trigger the auto pilot effect once its unlocked on the 3DS version.
@Veghesther holding right trigger and use Left/Right on the Dpad or thumbpad to switch between the 3.
U click up on the Dpad to bring up the map, then when you're on top of the place u want to go u hit start and it will ask if you want to go there now and hit yes and you're good.
@xXMikotoNakadaiXx Yeah, the games are written to match certain firmware on the 3DS and is the creators choice which it's written to, but so far all 3DS games have been locked to their region's 3DS. The DS games if they are DSi Enhanced are region locked, tho you will find some that work on the another country's 3DS that wont work on the same country DSi. i.e. NA Pokemon White works on JPN 3DS but noton a JPN DSi and JPN Pokemone White doesn't work on a NA 3DS
Just 1 more thing how to you shortcut key cast spells ie force Jade who first joins at level 45 cast Flame Burst without opening up the hit spells/artes menu to do so?
After all the PS2 version uses the right analog stick for doing that but the 3DS only has 1 analog stick not 2.
do you happen to know if all the awful ps2 glitches are still in this or not? its probably the only reason people would want to get this version is if those glitches are gone (besides the map glitch anyway)
@Sumwheat they mostly don't appear until starting a second playthrough and aren't really noticeable due to being small things like certain sidequests 2nd ma's and the secret dungeon being locked. i never got to go to the secret dungeon which was the only thing that annoyed me since i had to go all that way till near the end of the game to find that out.
@Veghesther ah yea, forgot there was more on the other bumpers. L is free run, R is target select, DOWN on the dpad changes between auto->semi-auto->manual, RIGHT is overlimits, LEFT is deny item usage. the A-B-X-Y are same as ○-x-△-□ on ps2
3.22 "Hadouken!" I didn't like the look of this at first, but it's more Studio Ghibli than Square Enix so I'm down for this :) I hope they keep the voices the same for its European release. I hate it when they dub Asian films in Enlgish. All of them turn into comedies instantly. Even when someone dies something will make you laugh. Especially Jackie Chan movies...i digress. o_O

Changing all the char names from like Shinichi to Jimmy, or like tales series, when it get released outside of japan they take out the vocals out of the intro song...WHY? ToA wasn't too bad cuz the guitar was cool, and ToV bonnie pink speak english too so she did that verison, but others I've seen them take it out XD

@MrFinalgamer Pretty much just free run in battles & hi-ougis that were in the English version that Japan didn't get. nothing that adds to the story or side stuff, just stuff like that and little better graphics and 3D. Some menus and such are changed but not anything big added.

@KitchenerBombSquad this is the very start area, only have like 2 special attacks at this lvl, I was rushingat that time as well so have close to nothing, and you will eventually get the move freely skill so its not just back and forth

Oh yeah, Tear learned First Aid! xD Oh, I was so looking forward to see Jade using Indignation xD So glad my favorite part of the Tales game is still in, I was so worried they might have to crop it out, the skits. Imma go buy a 3DS just for this game!

@earthpart3 oooh ya, deff shortend. PS2 version never bothered me like it did others, but it has drasticly went down. There is a vid floating around showing the 2 loading times in the same area, check that if u haven't yet

Did they add anything new story wise to this game like they did with previous Tales port games like ToV, ToG:F, ToS cause I'm really hoping they did & this just isn't a straight port of the PS2 version for the 3DS cause that would just suck to me.

@4ChristGamer Tales of Symphonia on the PS2 didn't have anything added, story wise. Just Hi-Ougis, costumes, items, and optional boss fights.

@Kennetkd My keyblade laid on a box, Digital Camera facing down thru the key part and have by bag below that, put a dry erase board over that, sit awkwardly/painfully and hold the 3DS while resting on the board for stability and play XD

can't wait for in to come out in NA. Looks like the only Tales game to come out to NA on a Nintendo console that's good. ToI looks great but it was never released in NA :/

@kkgladeslider I've played this for the PS2. I believe this is the best tales of game hands down when it comes to storyline and character development. The ending of this game was so beautiful, it almost made me cry.

@ApleLover11 well PSP got tons a 'Tales of' love, ToP, ToPX Narikiri Dungeon, ToD2, ToE, ToR, ToW RM 1-3, ToV. and DS only had ToH, ToT, and ToI, so i think its fair DS series finally get a port, a pretty one at that XD

@Sumwheat well i live in north america so the only tales series game here on the psp are uhm... i think tales of the world 1? And here at our gaming stores they dont have these type of variety of games so.. :/ the only way i could get the other series are by ordering which i cant really do cuz of my parents that sucks D: lol

@ApleLover11 Do your parents probably don't let you order online because they don't want to use a credit card, right? What I do it take the cash I've saved up and buy a amazon giftcard for myself at the store so I can order stuff without a credit card. But if it's still a no from them, then all I can say is wait until you move out and can do what you want. They're feeding you and stuff, so may as well put up with thier rules.

@AnimeSage285 Nothing in ToA really pops out, like other 3DS games its mostly just about depth. Map and such doesn't feel all the great of depth, but battles are pretty nice, probably cause you're looking down during map movement while in battles, you have that lower angle and the HP/SP bars are up to the screen so more stuff on screen at an angle where you can look where things are and how far part from eachother so get more of a feeling of depth there.

Btw for the PS2 version switching between Mieu Fire Wings and the one for breaking Rocks =R2 to switch between them.
But how to do that on the 3DS since a R2 button doesn't exist?
Also the PS2 version the teleport function to fly to a previously visited area required to use the R3 button to bring up the map screen but the 3DS doesn't have such a button so how do trigger the auto pilot effect once its unlocked on the 3DS version.

@Veghesther holding right trigger and use Left/Right on the Dpad or thumbpad to switch between the 3.
U click up on the Dpad to bring up the map, then when you're on top of the place u want to go u hit start and it will ask if you want to go there now and hit yes and you're good.

@Sumwheat Well, to be technical, the 3DS isn't region locked, the games are. You can still play Japanese DS games on an American 3DS.

@xXMikotoNakadaiXx Yeah, the games are written to match certain firmware on the 3DS and is the creators choice which it's written to, but so far all 3DS games have been locked to their region's 3DS. The DS games if they are DSi Enhanced are region locked, tho you will find some that work on the another country's 3DS that wont work on the same country DSi. i.e. NA Pokemon White works on JPN 3DS but noton a JPN DSi and JPN Pokemone White doesn't work on a NA 3DS

As for the Asch glitch to keep him unlikely since you can't remove the game and still play it.
Hence the overworld map glitch is only usable on the PS2 version.

Just 1 more thing how to you shortcut key cast spells ie force Jade who first joins at level 45 cast Flame Burst without opening up the hit spells/artes menu to do so?
After all the PS2 version uses the right analog stick for doing that but the 3DS only has 1 analog stick not 2.

do you happen to know if all the awful ps2 glitches are still in this or not? its probably the only reason people would want to get this version is if those glitches are gone (besides the map glitch anyway)

@Sumwheat they mostly don't appear until starting a second playthrough and aren't really noticeable due to being small things like certain sidequests 2nd ma's and the secret dungeon being locked. i never got to go to the secret dungeon which was the only thing that annoyed me since i had to go all that way till near the end of the game to find that out.

Level wise I was only at level 5 or 6 for the liger queen PS2 version not level 8.

@Veghesther ah yea, forgot there was more on the other bumpers. L is free run, R is target select, DOWN on the dpad changes between auto->semi-auto->manual, RIGHT is overlimits, LEFT is deny item usage. the A-B-X-Y are same as ○-x-△-□ on ps2

3.22 "Hadouken!" I didn't like the look of this at first, but it's more Studio Ghibli than Square Enix so I'm down for this :) I hope they keep the voices the same for its European release. I hate it when they dub Asian films in Enlgish. All of them turn into comedies instantly. Even when someone dies something will make you laugh. Especially Jackie Chan movies...i digress. o_O

@FibrousAcquiescence I don't see the need to wipe out all traces that it was in a diff language. Changing all the char names from like Shinichi to Jimmy, or like tales series, when it get released outside of japan they take out the vocals out of the intro song...WHY? ToA wasn't too bad cuz the guitar was cool, and ToV bonnie pink speak english too so she did that verison, but others I've seen them take it out XD

@MrFinalgamer Pretty much just free run in battles & hi-ougis that were in the English version that Japan didn't get. nothing that adds to the story or side stuff, just stuff like that and little better graphics and 3D. Some menus and such are changed but not anything big added.
