  • great video, well done

  • I hear Yukon has laxed gun laws and places are alittle cheaper..I WANT TO LIVE UP IN THE TRUE NORTH STRONG AND FREE!

  • is the weather not killing you there? it must be a really beautiful place, but its too cold for me there i think

  • this is so wonderfull, thanks for posting, i'll be moving to canada early this year and i hope to visit yukon soon! take care! sweet!

  • @stckurasowt You are very welcome!...Great to hear, you'll love it. But, I reccomend that you do your 1st trip during the summer!...lol :)

  • @stckurasowt yeah move to canada is fine. but moving to yukon is not, lol. its good for visiting in summer though. should be one exotic vacation, if you know the right things to do with right adventurous people.

  • Never knew such beauty existed until I went through the YT on my way to Anchorage earlier this year. Very nice video, enjoyed it much.

  • Beautiful! Nice job!

  • @luvmyctd Thank you very much for taking the time to watch and comment....very much appreciated. Yuke

  • Ever since I came to live in Canada I have wanted to live in Whitehorse YT, I am still trying to get a job there before I shuffle my way up there.

I was just wondering if the people in Whitehorse are able to co exist with colored people. Out here in Saskatchewan its quiet a strain on these rednecks to have colored people around. Any info is much appreciated.

  • I'm sorry to hear that our Saskatchewan brother's are projecting prejudice towards anyone Allen....Hmmmm?...I don't believe that you'll have any problem's in the Yukon. We are a real mix of Ethnic backgrounds and to my knowlege, there are no problems. Why don't you just make a trip up this summer and have a look see and get to know our people. I'm sure that you'll love everything about this beautiful country !...best wishes on your endeavors....Yuke.

  • I've only worked in agriculture (go figure) and I was wondering if it's possible to get hooked up with a job in YK before moving there, so that a landlord could actually trust me not to flake out? Or are there any jobs up there with room and board? I could save enough money for first and last but I'd have to know whether I could pull through in the long haul.@Yukoneze

  • Can't wait to drive there from Toronto next June! I might not come back once I get there!

  • Good!!!!....we need more wierd people here yet...lol....

  • i don't want to sound like a racist asshole or anything, but is it cold there, all the time? (please dont take that the wrong way)

  • Hahaha Hey for the record we just had an Indian Summer +40 C with close to 22 hours of daylight during summer months. but our winters average -15 to -25 with a few cold snaps which reach as low as -45 Celsious.....in case your still wondering

  • How could we????....Mild this year, the coldest we had in Kluane was -38....nice and warm this winter....hee hee :)

  • -38? That's COLD as tits! I've never been in that temperature in my LIFE! lol.

  • @GrilledAngus ,the coldest it have goten in like 3 years here is -60

  • @GrilledAngus HA,HA,HA.... I was born and raised here in Whitehorse and trust me -38 isn't cold -56 with Ice Fog for a week straight is COLD :)

  • The Yukon is a much better place than NWT and Nunavut

  • Totally agree bud....:)...Yuke

  • Loren. Thanks for the quick response!! Just did a quick look online and the lodge you have today doesn't look anything like when I lived there!! I have several 35mm slides of the lodge from those days and if you are interested I will get them scanned and send them to you. Gary Van der Veen and his folks are old friends as are the Flumerfelts. Say hi for me when you see them next!! Ted.

  • Jim passed away from cancer a couple month's ago...Marsha is holding up fairlywell....I'd love to get a copy of what you have Ted....let me know if you'd accomodat me and we could work out the cost's and address etc...Thanks again my friend....Loren/Yuke

  • Loren, thanks for the news about Jim. I'll send Marsha a note. On the pics I have...just started scanning them to computer and have found a few!! Actually even one of Jim and Marsha while they were dating!! Have to send that one to her! Cost?? Nothing. Just recognition for my DAD who took them. Saw the video on travelpod and you did a great job! Gave me flash backs for sure! More to follow, Loren! Keep em laughin, Ted

  • Lived in Destruction Bay 59-64. Best 5 years of my life!! Looking at these video snippets make me want to return - at least for a vacation!! Love it! keep up the good work! And when is the full length movie coming out?????

  • Great to hear from you tf...Hope you can make it back up this way before all the original elder's are gone. I bought the old Destruction Bay Lodge site in 94, now it's an R.V. park etc. Check it out on your web browser, if you like. There's a few pic's there...No web site as yet though...Great to hear from an old resident...not much has changed, just smaller population now, but, the beauty's the same :)..keep in touch and all the best! Loren

Hope that helps Neal......thanks for watching and your comment....Regards....Yuke

  • How can you even live there? I'm from Alberta and it looks like a totally different country. How do you survive in that snow and cold?

  • That was an unuasually snowy winter Pony and up in the summit area above Kluane lake...Then when it gets to our 30 to 50 below, it quits snowing..Yes it's cold here, but beautiful in the winter too! • The winter we filmed this, it was almost a record year for this area...Normally, we don't get that much snow. It's fairly dry in the Yukon. Just cold, eventually it gets too cold to snow during our long cold and dark winters...

    Thanks for your comment...Yuke

  • Just fantastic Loren. I have a brother in Juneau. I am from Pennsylvania. I get up to visot my bro every now and then. Made the trip last year in early February. Stayed at Fox Lake in Whitehorse. The drive from Haines to Haines Jtn. was awesome. The Kluane Range is spectacular. You should try for the Banff Film Festival. Thanks so much.

  • Thank you very much for your comment...As to the Banff film festival...I don't really think this would do that well there...I posted this more for the enjoyment of us regular folk...But...thank you for your kind words and glad that you enjoyed it....Yuke

  • Great Film, it makes you feel like being there. I was there in 1964, 1970, and 71. ! Just passing trough on the Alaska Hiway. But we stayed a few days and the memories of the beauty of the area are still with me.

  • Thank you lancieannie, things have changed quite a bit since you were last here, with regards to the businesses. However, the scenery has only gotten better. Time for you to come and see us again then. :) Yuke

I'm only asking cause I'm interested coming up there!

  • Thanks for your comment ....There are lots of different kinds of jobs here...In winter, mostly construction and related fields. In summer, lots of service industry work is available. Basically, what ever skills you may have, can be useful here in the north...Good luck!...Yuke

  • This makes me want to take a trip up there. I need to travel and going south isn't appealing to me. Love that snow!

  • Bl4...Thank you for your comment and for favoring the vid..... Yes, you'd probably love it up here. But, I reccomend you try it in the summer first, pretty cold as you can see in the winter, but, beautiful any time of the year. Hope you make it one day. tc....Yuke

  • You and me both! :)

  • a paki? hehe. I'm also half german.

  • Remember??? You're not allowed back....I'll notify the proper authorities!!!!!...GOOF!

  • I love living in the yukon. what is with the ignorant racist canadian caucasian? it baffles me why people waste their energy hating others. it is all just a matter of different skin pigmentation. before colonization, first nations people survived in one of the harshest climates in the world for thousands of years...that is pretty damn admirable.

  • Couldn't agree more Zahara...Thanks....Yuke

  • how is the Yukon pathetic? it's one of the most breathtaking looking places in Canada.

and a bunch of indians? do you realize that these people have lived here long before any of us came to stay on this land?

and it's pretty hilarious that the only thing you have to say in defense for your arguement is calling the people 'fags.' Too bad you didn't fucking use it in the right context!

just shows how intelligent the rest of canada is.

and i'm from toronto. i'm pretty fucking ashamed.

  • Amen! I wanted to say more, but, he is hardly worth it..Thanks aznjess...Yuke

  • Now I know why you were finally arrested and made the local paper's, Thank's for clearing that up cc....Yuke
