  • Really enjoyed watching this and am very honoured to be related to a man who was undoubtedly extraordinary. Wish i got the opportunity to meet my grandad.

  • Hi catte08, I have met Darcy, he might recall I was the youngest of Jim's children. I have a lot of photographs of the Pitts and VH-PAS that John was killed in has been rebuilt and is still flying.

You should be able to email me via here I think - I am not sure if John was a this but I have contact with a couple of people who were there at the time. Also, I was only talking to someone recently who had flown with your uncle from Kingsford Smith to Schofields in VH-PAS.

    Cheers L

  • @mymble2001 yes we recently found that out also. In the Latrobe Valley. I'm currently living in Melbourne and am trying to get my Dad down there to see it again and maybe take a flight in it.

  • Hi,

I believe my Uncle John Patterson might have been there too. And that Jim Scott and him owned the Pitts together. I would love to also hear from you. As I am doing a documentary on my uncle. mymble2001 i think my family has a lot of footage and photographs of them flying together. He also was killed in a light plane accident but his twin (my father Darcy) is still alive and always talks about aerobatics.

  • wow, fantastic memories of Hoges' Winfield ads in the seventies. Doesn't it just make you want to do some time travelling?

  • @Wyllough Pretty cool isn't it :)

  • that was great!

  • Wow, Jim was my dad, I would love to hear anything you recall about that day. He was killed in a light plane accident in 1976, we really don't have much footage of dad. I tried to get an interview he did with the Mike Walsh Show but didn't have any luck. Thanks for your comment :D

  • @mymble2001

I was the director of that commercial and can well remember Jim Scott . He was a great help and a great pilot.

Make contact and I can tell you more. BTW Hogan did the whole thing in the cockpit, run the camera and sound recorder while Jim ducked down and flew the plane blind.

  • @maddy6020 I would like to have a chat with you maddy - there is a historian who is documenting the Pitts and he has asked if you can supply a better quality version? He was hoping to take some stills from it.

  • Talk about bring back old memories.

I was there the day this was filmed on Property named Burrabogie Station East of Hay NSW.
