  • Oooh! I <3 your Heart Art! Great technique to keep the colors from blinding people LOL

  • Indeed....I have a very bad habit of using colors that are overly colorful and too bright. For years I have had to tone things down. I even painted a Black & White series at one point....thinking it would help me become more subdued. It's not meant to be apparently........heheheheh

  • cool idea

  • I love your bright colors! I like how the antiquing wash changes the mood, but without losing the color.

  • Thank you, AJ! You have some cool videos on your channel that I have yet to see!! Gees, can't keep up with it all!

  • thanks Deb......i've enjoyed this demo.......you and i are kindred spirits.....we both love bright colours!

    love, violette

  • heheheheh.....your home is one of the coolest places in the world, V! I always get a kick out of seeing videos of it and your journals and whatever else you are creating!!

  • Great! Good to visit and see wuttzup with you Deb!

  • Howdy, stranger! Long time no see. As always, it's a pleasure to hear from you once again. xoxoxoxoxox

  • Debs they are the same here in the UK. Most houses are full of cream and browns, no colour. Stay true to yourself, vibrate and colourful is fun!

  • Hi Sharon! Well, that's not unexpected. So many of us here migrated from your neck of the woods. Of course, we have a current massive migration coming in from the south and I'm sure they will be bringing new color palettes with them! YAY!! In a hundred or so years, why you won't even recognize our interior decor.

  • Pretty cool :) I may make u something sometime and send it to you. You are such a neat person Deb.... ((((((Hugs ))))) love, Me

  • That would be lovely, sugar! When will we be seeing another video from you?

  • I'm partial to bright and bold colors too.

I work for someone that has a very nice art collection (every wall has paintings and he has a closet and a spare room full of purchased paintings). From all I've seen very few have much pronounced color at all. Most have that Autumn at sundown feel. My style would clash greatly with what he has hanging.

  • Exactly!!! He probably has his entire home done in neutrals, right? Matchy, matchy. "tasteful". heheheheh

Say....did you see that Bulletins are back? I posted one tonite, but I don't know where it's going to show up unless people have their latest activity listed on their Channel pages.....

  • Very creative, great work,

    Jackie

  • Thank you so much, Jackie!!

  • Ditto I adore bright bold colours! Excellent work. I know what you mean about having to tone things down for some people. Shame as art is all about colour!

  • Thanks, Sharon. Here in the US, people seem to be more allergic to colors. Look at the design shows on tv.....muted palettes, very little artwork on the walls. Wierd.

And then....there's folks like you and me! heheheheh

  • that is really neat. opens up many creative ideas. cool!

  • Glad to hear it, CFCR! Hope you will be posting another art videos soon?!?

  • TFS! This is great vid!

    It is Japanese.

  • Love you, too, Sherry....my little cherry pie!

  • This turned out great. I don't 'tone it down' enough I am sure but hey... I love color. I use a product called antique stain or just watered down paint when I can't find the stain bottles ;)

  • Be sure to tell me when you do part 2 of the Trip to Paris.....I MUST see what you do with this page!!!

  • Thanks, Deb. I'm really appreciating your videos. Being a color-lover, too, I tend to forget about toning it down!

  • Deb, i love colours too;-) great technique!! TFS

  • Thanks, July! I am a total Color Addict. It even carries over into my clothing!!

  • Very cool! Thanks!

  • Thank you, Pat, you crazy girl!!

  • Nice little technique! Thanks for showing us. It is a very suttle way to dim the brightness and I notice it adds a really charming texture too. I think it is magic that removing brightness does not remove a thing from the result.

  • I have to use this technique often because I am forever using colors like I did when I was a child! It's funny, actually. Thanks for watching, hon!

  • beautiful as always

  • Thanks once again, honey bunny!

  • ever tried shoe polish to do that..works good to.

  • Nope, no shoe polish. I haven't even owned any shoe polish for 25 years!!
