I went to a house show when I was about 8 and one of the matches was Warrior V Andre the Giant. It lasted about 90 seconds. At the time I thought it was the coolest thing ever but again I was 8 years old. Warrior was obviously not a good wrestler. It was about his look, charisma, etc. Sad that Rude never got a title run.
You are in the ring with Andre the Giant you listen to what he had to say. No matter who you are in the match Andre was the "boss" or ring general. Ultimate Warrior had to be pretty stupid to think you could ignore Andre.
Andre was very ill. He was unable to work a 20 minute match and that's why he put the warrior over. The warrior was a good talent but almost no ring skills made him less than believable.

@daw162 Hogan's skills weren't the greatest that's for sure. But, nonetheless, far superiors then the Warriors. Look at any matches he's had in Japan. He just adopted the New York style brawling (a la Sammartino) that he thought fans wanted to see in the US.

"Self Destruction" isn't really a good title for the DVD, because Warrior didn't really self-destruct like Scott Hall or the Von Erichs did. Warrior is alive and well and seems to be making a decent living doing whatever he's doing. A better title would have been "1000 Reasons Why Warrior is a Complete Asshole".

This is nothing more than a hatchet job. If Warrior sucked so bad, why was he in the WWF in the first place? Why was he ever given a chance? I will believe them when they say he was unprofessional. @Rucker1980 It is petty. The part about Andre and the Warrior is complete garbage. Those matches between Andre & The Warrior took place at the end of summer/fall of 89, Andre's body was giving out on him by that time. Andre could no longer wrestle a full match which is why they were all squash matches. If Vince was trying to make a monster main event between the two he was desperate as hell! Andre would be on crutches less then 2 years later and dead at the start of 1993.

Back in those days the WWF did 4 pay per views, The gap between wrestlemania and summerslam is around 5 months. How Vince never paid Warrior after 5 months is just absurd!

When Bret Hart invoked his creative control that was in his contract, Vince pulled the Montreal Screw job then tried to blame Bret for everything that happened, even when Rick Rude was right there & the next night was on WCW telling the world live what took place. Vince had problems w/ Savage because Savage didn't want to be a commentator

@CraigJericho I don't know about winning the world title at survivor series. Back in those days the WWF survivor series was the team elimination and that didn't change until after Rude had already left in 91. Rude left after summerslam 91 and the first singles match on a Survivor Series card took place in November 91 when Hogan faced Undertaker. But regardless, Rude was promised a world title run and never got it and the fact that Rude hated working w/ Bobby Heenan didn't help either!

Goldberg was lazy and careless with a lot of people as well, but the difference between Warrior and Goldberg is that Goldberg was a good human being, and wrestlers have forgiven him for being a poor worker. Goldberg wasn't a great wrestler and was green as goat shit, but people (especially wrestlers) give him more leeway because Goldberg is a genuinely nice guy.

"Self Destruction" isn't really a good title for the DVD, because Warrior didn't really self-destruct like Scott Hall or the Von Erichs did. Warrior is alive and well and seems to be making a decent living doing whatever he's doing. A better title would have been "1000 Reasons Why Warrior is a Complete Asshole".

Slaughter and Dibiase both said they never had a problem with working with Warrior and why guys like Ross, Lawler, Edge, Triple H are saying anything is beyond me. Those matches between Andre & The Warrior took place at the end of summer/fall of 89, Andre's body was giving out on him by that time. Andre could no longer wrestle a full match which is why they were all squash matches. If Vince was trying to make a monster main event between the two he was desperate as hell! Andre would be on crutches less then 2 years later and dead at the start of 1993.

Back in those days the WWF survivor series was the team elimination and that didn't change until after Rude had already left in 91. Rude left after summerslam 91 and the first singles match on a Survivor Series card took place in November 91 when Hogan faced Undertaker. But regardless, Rude was promised a world title run and never got it and the fact that Rude hated working w/ Bobby Heenan didn't help either!

Rude was great in WCW, he was part of the dangerous alliance, he was a great U.S. champ and had some great feuds with Sting. He was kept around because of his drawing power of course even when he could hardly move anymore.
