I dont get what bonding really means....need to do some research...but 64 MB/sec holyshit thats fast....the fastest I ever got was like 28 MB...with shitty comcast.
@halo3isbeast I am from Portsmouth, VA. I just upgraded from SB6120 to Cisco DPC3010. Now I got 7 bonding channels and it possible to go up to 180 mbps depends on. :P
My 6120 takes MUCH longer to sync than the one in this video does... plus mine does not sync with bonded channels... whats up with that? Other than that its fine.. I never have any connection issues and Im on the 30/4 plan with charter.. I consistently get 35/4.. I just wonder why I dont sync to bonded channels though and why it takes so long to sync
This modem is a beast. I used to have a sb5101 or something and the download speed was so inconsistent. I bought the SB6120 and my speeds were up to 70mb/s (with powerboost) and 28 mb download WITHOUT powerboost. I'm ONLY supposed to be getting 20mb download with my package but I'm getting 28 steady.... BEASTLY MODEM
good speed, but the ping si horrible, i get no more than 9 when i have 2 gaming computers and a ps3 all gaming at once. im thinking of getting this modem, is it worth it..?
Impressive speeds, man! 63 mbps holy shit that blows away my shitty 6 mbps at&t. but i will be upgrading to cox soon. is a docsis 3.0 modem really worth it? which one do they usually give you to start with?
@musicd00d2010 I bought this modem from Best Buy. It running great but Cox's DOCSIS 3.0 Server automatically let people (and me) to bonding the channels. I only get two bonding (38mbps*2 = 76mbps).
But this was Preferred Tier. I'm on premier tier 30mbps/5mbps. :) try it with Cox!
@choppergage thanks for the reply. thinking about the cox premier service. but are you saying with bonding channels you get double the speed? for example 30mbps is premier, does that mean 60mbps total?
mine has all the same lights, but it wont connect to the internet. I can connect to my network (on a netgear wndr3700 router) but it wont connect... just got it, hasnt worked yet. maybe I set it up wrong? is there a certain way to set it up? the user guide sucks!
@choppergage no i did that first thing, duh. i just had to set it up with my Isp. I couldnt set it up myself. they had to send codes and stuff... anyway, they came out today to replace the splitters and cables (7years old), and my connection still didnt work until i went into my router and disable port scan and DoS security. i would have perfect connection and then 1 bar for a few secs, which would disconnect me. couldnt finish any online games...anyway, i think it was the port scan.
@ven0IVI sound like it was defected. try to get new one if it solve the problem and the cable was old. you gonna replace new one with 1 to 2ghz to allow modem can use 800mhz or up
Wow! 60mbps. What were you getting before upgrading to a gigabit router? I have the same modem but still have a non gigabit n300 router. I get a speedtest of 30mbps on Cox.
I understand that this gives you a little boost from your regular cable modem, does your internet provider(comcast) charge you extra for the performance increase?
You can just upgrade ur modem. That's what I'm doing. They do take this modem. Make sure that after u install it u call comcast and tell them to program it for u.
wait, you have a 20Mbps plan and yet you get 70Mbps!? I only have a 6Mbps download speed. If I were to get this modem, will my internet speed increase too? If so, how do you think it will increase by?
I'm just got this modem, going to this from DSL, I know that I need a router now so My wife can use her laptop, I also bought the D-Link DGL-4500, So if I understand this, I have to connect My DGL-4500 to My ethernet on My pc, then one of the ethernet jacks from the DGL-4500 router to the Cable Modem, Is this going to harm restrict my speeds vs just having Just the Modem Connected without going through router? I made sure the Router was very high end...
it sounds like you have a hard time getting up and down, and your breathing is heavy to. what's wrong? And why the awesome netgear router, and THEN the 16 port hub? You only had a handful of things plugged up.
I was sick and hard to breathing. So, anyway, The Netgear router only max 4 then 1 go to 16 port switch. I have many devices connected to this router. I have almost 17 devices.
