If it's down to "natural selection" (I'm still waiting to hear an explanation on what directs it) then why isn't every organism on earth the same thing, being as it came from these same single-celled organisms? And where are all the trees and fish that are 30-60% something else but not quite there yet in it's evolutionary journey?

Do you know the simple fact the only variety of Pine holds rings = 1 year stably, and pine don't live more then 150 years ever!! and even Douglas Fir has no consistency on ring versus age after first five years? The formation of a ring inside a tree go by biological process.
