I know this is old but I wanted to respond to this. By now, I'm sure you know tis but there was no hell in the OT. The concept showed up after the Hebrews were freed from Babylonian captivity. Many scholars believe that Hell, Duality, etc, all came from Mithric religion, which was (this one) was a Persian belief and that's who freed them from Bab. captivity.

We don't really hear about hell until the NT, which I'm convinced the church had much to do with implementing it for control.

whether you believe in god or not is your own decision but to believe in religion is an issue. i've always said that all religions are is a means for men to control other men. the idea of hell is one of those controls. if you don't do what your told and be a good christian your gonna be tortured for all eternity at the will of a god who "loves" you. religion is a crock of shit and if god exists i'm sure that being would say the same....
