  • When I was many, many years younger I once owned a 1964 Pontiac Acadian Beaumont, which is nearly the same as a 1964 Malibu, to me those are the Holy Grail of the Malibu line of cars, practically impossible to find now. Now, I'm much older and well into my second childhood, and my newest toy is a 1980 Malibu Classic with a worked 350...full circle...

  • Great video, nice car, and I love Europe, but I would have liked to hear and see the Malibu without the music overlapping the engine sound.

  • 267 = worse v8 ever made. prolly worse than a 305

  • Miss my '79. I've had many other cars since, but the Malibu was by far the most comfortable to drive and fun.

  • nice car!! when that motor goes get a 454 and turbo 400 trans that car will launch! basicaly those malibus are a nova or omega light and when big block is installed they are real fast lol..

  • Wow, very well done.

  • i would habe loved listen to the v8 instead of listening some (whats that? eighties?) crap music

  • Really enjoyed your video, the production quality is excellent! Great taste in music too! I've got a '78 El Camino 350 with a new stereo installed. I love cruising down the street listening to 80's rock like Europe with the rumble of the dual exhaust.

The 267 is actually not a bad motor despite its bad rep. It's a good low end torque motor.

  • Is a muscle carrazo!!! ;)

  • Excelent video clip!

  • selling my 81 bu 4 door $1100

  • Had an 81 267 'bu. Sold it in '06. Still cry myself to sleep over letting her go.

  • Has this been restored?

  • Nope, it's all original! Nothing's been touched. 45,000 original miles!

  • cool car just get rid of that hideous hood ornament

  • The 267 sounds pretty sweet with the right kind of setup.

  • nice car...keep it with care!

  • and the honeycomb rims, front grille and rare 267 engine make the 1981 Malibu the best of all automobiles in mankind.. thank you and goodnight.

  • Thanks! I appreciate your comments! Good to know there's a lot of Malibu guys out there!

Soon i have to make a new video! I've given the car a cat back dual Flowmaster exhaust and i restored a set of '78 15X8 Trans Am wheels that i put on the car. (I gave the car a "stock" looking setup, as if GM had made a high performance looking model back then with GM tips and wheels)

Check back in the coming months, i'll have it up for you!

  • thats a beautiful car u have i got an 81 myself...v6 229 i know i wish i ha an 8 but thats how i got her,,,i wanted to ask the buzzer u wouldnt know where i can find one cause i want it for mine

  • I cant stop watching this video, great music and an even better car

  • I also have an 81 bu, I love yours ...verrry nice.

  • Clean original 81... Good Video

  • CLEAN CAR AND VIDEO

  • Europe rocks.

  • i put a bored over LT1 in mine bringing it to a 355 c.i.d. added a 650 edelbrock and DAMN! it was the fastest car i have ever owned.i wish i still had her.one day i will own another.till then...nothing but memories.

  • not familiar with the v8 you guys are talking about my dads had a 305. This is a really nice made video btw. Far higher quality than most youtube efforts.

  • Thanks for the nice comment! The 267 was a very rare V8, GM only made it for i believe 3 years the dropped it.

Thanks for the quality comment too! I'm a senior in film school, guess my studies are paying off!

  • i'm sorry i but i couldn't take this video seriously. i was waiting for a piano or somthing to fall on it at the end or somthing! i am the owner of a 1973 chevelle 350 700r4 ride. if this were my car i would slam a cammed out 350 and some serious gears in there! it's gonna be many more years before u get some respect as a true classic though!

  • Considering how low miles and original it is, and rare, you'd be suprised how much respect i've gotten for the car so far after a 3 year ownership.

When the 267 blows up, the car will get a ZZ4 350 and 700R4

  • sweet deal

  • hey man dont talk about Malibus like that, who cares about your Chevelle, just enjoy the video

  • i hade a 1981 Malibu Classic hade the 267 V8 hade to take the computer out that was connected to the carb after that it ran fine got better mpg

  • did you put a 4 bbl quad on it? Cause i'm considering doing the same thing.

  • I wouldn't put a 4bl on it. The factory dualjet 2bl is more than a 267 needs. If you want more "pep" put a cheap 350 in it. The 267's are fine from a realiability standpoint (my dad had a 79 wagon that finally went to scrap with 220k on it, never needed anything but a tuneup and a radiator), but the 267 will never be a good performer.

  • how much money do you waste in oil....for a month ¿?

  • the car does leak oil dude...but not much, nothign to worry about

  • That's a beautiful Malibu. My first (and still favorite car) was a '79 Malibu Classic Landau Coupe V8...bone stock and mint. So far, nothing has been as nice.

  • i love the rims, those are the very original, i had the classic landau

  • nice car, im thinking of getting one, same year same paint job and same engine, what do you think of it, do you think it would be a good daily commuter car? Have you had any problems with the 267 engine?

  • if you live somewhere in the country where there's no snow, drive it daily! i love it! you should totally pick the car up. awsome ride, great investment!

  • You have a very nice example of a 1981 Malibu Classic!! I would not turn it into a hot rod. I would keep everything all origional.I have had Malibu Classics 1979 and 1982 and 2 1978 Monte Carlos thru the years and I kept every thing origional. In the long run, it will be well worth it, because then you have people like me who will buy them in there all origional state.I encourage you to go online or to your library and look for the sales brochure and you will learn lots of info.

  • Great to hear other "purists" like me are out there. I'm a total numbers matching original everything kind of guy too. I have the sales brochure and manual to my car. Before going to film school, i worked many summers and winters at classic car restoration shops. I appreciate originality a lot (Ive done work on NCRS level mid-year Vettes). My Malibu is going to stay all original, believe me. There's too many tubbed and hot rodded Malibus out there.

  • Right on, man!!!! My thoughts exactly!!

  • Hey nice car, i have a 1979 chevy malibu with the 267 V8 in it, its a nice car...Does yours have the triangled shaped carb on it?

  • Sweet! Glad to hear others out there enjoy their 267 Malibus instead of swapping it for a 350!

We have 2-barrel carbs called a Dual-Jet, but it's not exactly a triangle, looks like a regular carb to me.

  • Ohh gotcha, yeah i think mines the same as yours but mine does have the weird shaped carb on it and it is the duel jet carb...not a bad car tho i just got a new racing timing chain and pullies on mine and new camshaft bc my exhaust lobes worn out. Its a great car now tho!

  • Nice ride, I love that gen of malibus, I have one 80 classic landau, it, is yours restored?

  • Nope, my Malibu is 100% original, i bought it two years ago from an old lady with 45,000 original miles on it. Original paint, 267 smallblock, you name it.

Thanks for posting! I'd liek to see some videos of your 80 Malibu sometime!

  • hhehehe!!! this is the best way to take an original classic car!!! find an old ladies!

Great car! I remember my 80 Classic Landau, Was white with ints. in blue! beautiful

  • i was in this this car once or twice. A buddy of mine owns one. its a smooth ride. and this was a nice video.

  • Cool editing, I enjoyed the vid alot! And... stunning 81!
