  • love thiz soundtrack

  • Immortals

  • Moosem. U would be Scots, not Scot's. Scot's would mean u belong to someone called Scot. Which I doubt you do?

  • @dinoedwards9999 unless he is a Scot's porridge oat. You never know..either way he is a twatty man from Scotland. England (and its scattered seed) forever.

  • ok

  • This movie is an insult to the book.

  • @TruegrassBoy

As most movies are mate ;-(

  • @TruegrassBoy it may be, but you can't say the music isn't wonderful :)

  • @TruegrassBoy and the book is an insult to the history?

  • I love this music, its so hauntingly beautiful. This is one of my most favorite movies.

  • @satonya444

Last time i looked the North Americas starts in Mexcio and ends in Alaska.

So they are American natives are they not.

  • I cant understand the celtic/English music in an american film about american natives?

  • @HonestBloke this is not an english song its a scottish folk tune

  • @seonidh

Seriously?! Originally I thought it might have been French Canadian.

  • @1NX9 Yes its called the gael and was written my Dougie MacLean he's on yt in a video playing it on his fiddle

  • @seonidh Anyhow, bottom line is this sort of Scottish reel is exactly the same as Appalachian fiddle music of the period... very heavy influence. Also Native American and African influence in Appalachian music.

  • @ijwi actually this song was written by the Scottish folk composer Dougie MacLean in 1988 its not even from the Appalachian fiddle.

  • @HonestBloke

    They are not American natives.

The events took place in Canada (Upper Canada/Lower Canada back then).

If I recall correctly (its been awhile & my memory fades me). Its about the French Indian Wars.

The British with their native allies (Mohawk.....) later fought the French with their own native allies (Huron, Algonkin ....) over North America.

  • @HonestBloke It takes place in the region between Fort William Henry (Lake George, NY) and into lower Canada (present day French Canadian border...I live here. The Adirondacks...but it was filmed in Asheville, NC

  • @HonestBloke If you want to know why they used Scotch-Irish music for parts of the soundtrack, maybe spend some time in the Appalachians and get back to us. The 2008 Presidential Primaries were all about the "Scotch Irish vote" you can draw a map of the election results, that's the Scotch-Irish heartland in America. A lot of those people intermarried with Native Americans and have been living in those hills since before the Revolution.

  • @ijwi Can you please stop calling us "Scotch"? I an neither an egg or an Alcoholic drink! I'm Scot's. Thanks :)

  • @HonestBloke What i mean is the counties Hillary won (for whatever reason) were the Appalachian counties with Scotch Irish voters whose parents moved there in the 1700s-early 1800s. Scots intermingled with native americans on the frontier. British promised to keep settlers out of Indian territories. So the Indian tribes sided with the Crown. After that, US treated all Native American tribes as a conquered war enemy.

  • I have the final battle scene from LOTM check it out! :)

    watch?v=E9SEFMIBwAs

  • This song never fails to move me everytime that I hear it.

  • The largest genocide in history.of Crusaders

I do not understand why some Indians still convert to the Christian religion...

  • This song makes me want to travel back in time pick up muskets and kick indians off their land so they can in later years build multi-billion dollar casinos and some how live in poverty while their leaders live like kings. Also so they can become alcoholics and blame the white man for everything. YAAAAAA indians are awesome!!!!!!

  • I LOVE Daniel Day Lewis, he's such an amazing actor !

  • "NO NATIVE AMERICANS WERE HARMED DURING THE FILMING OF THIS MOVIE".

  • this music makes my blood stir ,it remaids me of my country and of our brothers over the border

  • one of the best films ever

  • I love the music from this film and each time i hear it I get shivers up and down my spine and I feel the passion from the movie. I love it when they get the music so right like this and you feel the story when you hear it again.

  • the scene where Alice jumps is a masterpiece, along with the one where Hawkeye puts Duncan out of his misery, and then there's the elk hunt scene to get you started. - all of it to the most glorious soundtrack in recorded history.

  • @Katsem I totally agree

  • great actors all !.and i like the nature, forest and clifs shown in the movie.very powerfull theme.

  • Alice munro, played by Jodhi may, is a very quiet, very beautiful, young girl. Throughout the film we hardly hear Alice mutter a word, we dont take her very seriously in the film and all we see is an innocent, beautiful, even if childish girl. But when it comes to the climax of the film she steps into the spotlight for the first time, revealing that sudden je ne sais quoi we dont see elsewhere, we dont want her to jump because we feel we've just known her and are left speechless when she does...

  • @Masterfulmaniac - a truly remarkable scene in a very special movie, one myself and my ex used to watch together in happier times................

  • @corcaighrebel My girlfriend has not seen the film yet, I coudn't believe it, I said I would show her it which should be quite exciting yet slightly upsetting...hey, it's not easy seeing your favourite actress jump off a cliff...

  • @Masterfulmaniac Stunned and stunning.

  • Go WES STUDI

  • What a testament to pursuing what you really want in life. The way Long Rifle simply swept Ms. Monro off her feet was breathtaking.

  • one of the greatest scenes in movie history

  • Everybody seems to love this theme. So do I!

  • Discovery,anguish,romance,bravery...courage...James Fennimore Cooper

  • MUY BONITA PELICULA

  • Damn good job!!

  • oh wait actually this is dumb. another crappy fan made video. i thought it was an actual scene. i hate youtube sometimes

  • I love how many views this clip has. Such a great scene.

It has so much more views than other great scenes, from more famous and successful movies. Love it.

  • epic music.....truly moving

  • The music makes this movie

  • @RiVvenGuard

The music in this movie is perfect - but the movie (story) itself is perfect as well.

  • Fantastic Movie Great actors

  • @bebopola One of the reasons Michael Mann decided to shoot the film in North Carolina instead of New York was that he felt the woods of North Carolina looked more like the old-growth forests of the Adirondacks, which still show evidence of logging during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many of the scenes were shot at Biltmore, George Vanderbilt's North Carolina estate; the forest in the estate was carefully planned and planted about 100 years ago.

  • @bebopola Lol, you're gonna have to find a promontory too and go for a run!

  • UNE MERVEILLE QUE J'ECOUTE DEPUIS LA SORTIE DU FILM ET QUI BERCE MON AME ET MON COEUR ET DONT JE NE ME LASSERAIT JAMAIS. christie.

  • Although it was filmedin North Carolina, the story is set in upstate New York.

  • brilliant mate

  • He is an actual Native American. So is the man who plays his father.

  • even after all these years still just as huanting as it was the first time

  • Fascinating^_^

  • This is one of my absolute favourite movies.. especially the sceneries and music is beautiful (oh well, and so is David ;)

  • Is that a Hammered Dulcimer in the background of the theme?

  • was this filmed in canada, british columbia?

  • I believe North Carolina U.S.

  • The Mohicans were from New England and eastern New York State area.

  • i watched this movie in history class the movie was breathtaking, it had great sceenary, and great actors

  • i watched this movie in my history class it was really breathtaking

  • This film is one of my favorites, is passionate and beautiful, a love story in a world fighting a war for survival of both matter what, always remain on each other, seriously wonderful. And I love great soundtrack, a tune full of much emotion and feeling, a single theme.

  • I really don't think she was "thinking" much at the end. Remember earlier in the movie, at the fort, she tells her older sister that she is no longer a school girl, that she cannot be protected forever (or something like that). She would never have seen violence in her life and didn't have any idea how to deal with it...would you? I know I probably would have jumped off that cliff.

  • Cancion rxvr...¡¡¡

  • the music and scenery...worth watching!

  • James Fenimore Cooper...

It means: I like it very much! :) so, thank you!

  • wat song

  • Alice didn't have to kill herself.

  • Would you have gone with... That?! Don't forget, a 1700's female would not have seen suicide as wrong; maybe. Comments?

  • thats a weird staement ? why wouldnt she? remember she was the daughter of a british officer from a wealthy family. she could have expected to be ransomed ?

  • Let's recall recent events in the movie. Father had his heart cut out. Sister to be burned at the stake but she doesn't know the British officer switched and took her place. She just saw the love of her life get his throat cut and tossed off a cliff.

  • love of her life ? she only met the dude, she prob had an underlieing mental condition. we can all agree, what a waste.

  • She probably had only torture and death ahead of her anyway. Also, in the genre of the 1700's suicide for love was romanticized.

  • This is hands down my favorite movie of all time!!!!!!!!!!

  • the music is epic

  • I live about 15 minutes from where the Final Battle scene of the movie was filmed, I can never go by there without thinking of this music. I thank my lucky stars that i live on this movie set every day.

  • Caqn you tell me where it is? I would like to visit such as incredible place.

  • Most of the outdoor scenes were filmed in Western North Carolina in The Great Smokey Mountain National Park, and the Blue Ridge Park. The final battle scene was filmed in Chimney Rock State Park, near Lake Lure North Carolina.

  • I live in Rome, Italy, but on my first holiday...i'll come to see the foliage in North Carolina. I'm glad you gave me these informations about the places of this movie. Ciao

  • Tout mon respect pour les peuples indiens et leurs fières héritiers!

Un message de Tolérance et de Paix.

  • Jodhi May looks gorgeous in this, thats the blond sister who tops herself!

  • She never looked better. When she looks back at the camera before leaping she is breathtaking in her beauty....

  • Yes, you're right... That was a breathtaking scene and her eyes were just magic...

  • @ripperduck... Yes, I so agree! Amazing.

  • Totally agree, magic.

  • @ripperduck you are right but i think that ounkas was the most tragic person in the film because he gave his life for a girl that he hasn't live anything with.........

  • @ripperduck That scene gets to me every time. The way she watches the fight and then looks at Magua. It is so sad and tragic. She looks amazing. I have lost track of the number of times I have seen this movie.

  • @lisaannejane2 No dialogue too. This amazing scene plays out with glances and inferences. That has to be some very good acting/directing/editing in order to get that done. I have recommended LOTM to so many people over the years, telling them that they stopped making films such as this years ago.

  • @ripperduck She looks like a Botticelli painting.

  • EPIC !

  • very nice

  • cherokee indians would have f@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ked up magua and his mohawks i guarantee it v because i am cherokee

  • how old are you? you sound infantile.... and, really, quite stupid.

because your'e cherokee you KNOW and guarantee what? that you can kick someone else's butt? dumb argument

  • very nice video thank you

  • Who the hell r the mohicans??? plzz anyone tell

  • A Native American tribe up near New York, and they arent really all gone, Mohicans are still around.

  • but long carbine is =)

  • They're a native Indian tribe. They were nearly wiped out in the 1700's but they see themselves as a group that refuses to vanish. There are still Mohicans around today, You should watch the movie "The last of the mohicans" it shows a really good potray of the history of this stuff.

  • watch the movie

  • idiot. learn your history and maybe u will become a better person.

  • It is always good to get a better person.

  • They are actually called the Muhheakunnuks. And they are still around. They fought against the British in the Revolutionary War, which happen about twenty years after this movie took place.

  • Grand! This movie got me interested in other music besides the usual pop same ol
