@rabbitcanfly Very good question. HaShem is Hebrew for "The Name". Early in Hebrew history there was an awesome reverence for the name of God, "YHVH". So much so that they would not even call out the name of the Almighty God Of Israel. So, rather than pronounce a name of God, they refer to Him as "The Name" or "HaShem". This reverence still exists today.
