  • is it me or dose simon always do this sort of thing? in ireland we call this poking. (when you hit everything back and wait for the other person to miss)

  • I am a 5.0...even i could end this point quickly..what a joke rally..

  • That was like a practice session for both of them lol

  • seriously, "what a rally?"... what exactly was great about that rally? after the 5th shot they seemed to be in training mode...

  • i dont like red ground!!!!

  • pushers

  • all that for a point?!

  • two grinders

  • push to the finish

  • Boring. Bring me Roger! ;)

  • thost balls that they are hitting are going much faster than it looks online so stop criticizing ...

  • If they did we be here for hours, (depending on the slowness of the slomo replay, just kill me thanks)

  • surprised monfils didn't get bored after the 10th shot and go for a jumping through the legs forehand winner.

  • that's NOT why i watch tennis

  • simon would be the most annoying prick to play against

  • The viewers on the side and the umpire must have a neck pain!

  • long but boring

  • wtf they suck both

  • only would happen at french open cos the court's so slow. would never happen on grass...

  • Way to cure insomnia :D

  • they look like they are trying to break a rally record together

  • looks like both players forgot the match had actually begun and are still warming up!

  • they play like the girls at 14-16 years

  • monfils en tenue violette. ca me fait penser à une tablette de chocolat milka!

  • @Swordsman808 u are seriously retarded

  • Too bad they didn't show the slow motion replay ;)

  • @stakapoum hahaha

  • peloteo¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • FOME LA WEA!

  • sad it ended with an error

  • @Swordsman808

I'm not a Chauvinist and not a fan of these guys so your comment is completely shit.

You are simply a blind hater who has never watched any match of them, they are not attackers that's for sure but they can hit winners obviously and both ranking in the top 20 so you talk nonsense.

And an American who gives a lesson on Patriotism, don't make me laugh, idiot, hahahahaha

  • They are good friends and know their games (that's what they said), it's why there are few rallyes like that between them, some points too where they play " the cat and mouse game".

  • @Swordsman808

Simon is very talented, you cunt.

He was more offensive than Monfils in that match as well, that's why he won that match anyway.

  • Rally....its more like practice....

  • it reminded me of atari 2600 tennis

  • stroking competition, lol

  • simon is probably the most boring player on atp circiut

  • @gandalph915 haha I agree and he is stubborn too. Doesn't lose easily.

  • @xcoollynch

No, he's far from being the most boring player on atp.

Smooth groundstrokes, good technique, good backhand down the line, decent forehand, clever player who plays with his brains unlike 70 percent of the tour.

  • @gandalph915

    Wrong.

And the quality of the match was pretty decent anyway.

People overreacting here for nothing, really.

  • Unfortunately, clay produces rallies like this ALL THE TIME.

  • Granny vs Granny

  • Monfils= pure wasted talent.

  • with my full concentration and four pretty girls watching i could do that too.

  • anyone thinks Simon looks like Robert Pattinson ?

  • pushers duking it out

  • They are nervous for sure!

  • Bad tennis

  • i count 62 lol

  • @killerrolon if Monfils started and ended the rally, the number of rallies must be odd instead of even, so it cannot be 62

  • Slow clay court, two French solid baseliners with strong forehand and 2 handed backhand exchanging groundstrokes. That's how it works

  • THEIR NAMES ARE THE SAME, SPELT IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES!!! LOL

  • way to cure insomnia!

  • my boy!!!!

  • I was there at that match, and the previous rallys had also been at 30 or more exchanges :D pretty crazy match

  • @ShazynShax

Yeah but overall match was rather good quality, especially at the end of the first set, the second set and at the beginning of the third set.

  • the chair empire will get a neck injury for some more point like that

  • I thought they were just practicing. Didn't know it was a match until a voice popped up. What an utterly boring point.

  • 51...not 61

  • That was incredible...incredibly boring.

  • pushers-paradise

  • i love tennis .. but it can be boring .. the only variety in that exchange ( a poor slice backhand) resulted in a fault .. pfff

  • thumbs up if you counted!!

  • that was boring >_>

  • wow!

  • Wake me up when it's over.

  • thumbs up if you searched hamburger and found this on page seven.......

  • I think the last ten seconds monfils was trying as hard as he could not to explode and just whack the ball up into the stands out of boredom.

  • training session?

  • karlovic does a great job moving baghdatis around the court here

  • @Saucy94 what...?

  • Pushers paradise.

  • a minute and 48 seconds long hahahaha, longer than some games

  • Other than the length there wasn't really anything special about it.

  • This is not a great rally lol none of them are taking any risk.. pro tennissers could do this for hours if needed.

  • @dudiaz tennissers?

  • @Balisticsyko Oh god lol I really did write that. Thanks for the criticism:P FAIL haha

  • @dudiaz you dont know how hard they are actually hitting the ball, and how they could not step up because the ball were heavy and deep

  • @dudiaz tennissers? nice, glad to know you can spell.

  • @OreoEater100 Oh man get over yourself. Anyone can make mistakes, silly as they sometimes are... "Oh, you forget capitals." See me saying that? Didn't think so.

  • @dudiaz "Forgot" .

  • @OreoEater100 I'm sure that when no one corrects you, you forget them all the time. Therefore, simple present is in order...

  • @OreoEater100 Tennissers. He's obviously saying it in another language because English is foreign to him. Glad to know you have a brain.

  • @dudiaz what do u know? thats why youre here watching and posting comments while theyre playing proffesional tennis.

  • @taranguiz94 True, I wouldn't be able to. But they would;) All I'm saying. Look at them, I'm sure they could do that for a very very long time. They train for hours and hours every week;)

  • omg Simon reminds me of Robert Pattinson :D

  • @Arkinko1 omg yes! that is so true. good catch lol

  • Two bigest pushers on the tour

  • nice !

  • a bit boring! 61 shot, 55 shots the same way! they have to change at a moment, no?! lol

  • @worldted I didn't claim they weren't working their way into the match. I said that it was hilarious to see you backtrack from "incredible tennis" to "waaaaah, you can't judge them, they were just warming up!".

Two pushers working their way into a match is about as boring as it gets.

  • @Caesar1844 Final comment on this. Clearly, some don't like this type of rally. I have no choice but to accept/respect that. Yes, that DOES reverse my orginal comment. What I'm NOT reversing is that I didn't think they were pushing. Looked like medium-paced, ATP-level shots when two players are playing steady on clay. Call me a lover of "pusher tennis" if you like, but I was entertained by it. The commentator seemed to think it was an incredible rally too (for what that's worth). Cheers. :-)

  • consistency!

  • i suppose most people find this annoying but i love it ! Simon's mind is like "I will not be the one that makes the mistake"...

  • how mad would i be if i lost that rally that way

  • gilles simon looks like edward cullen

  • You're not really a pusher if you put tens of thousands of hours into not missing...

  • i see they're practicing.. so when does the match start?

  • god it's like watching a pillow fight

  • is this rally longest in tennis ever?.........but i think it was pretty boring rally :D

  • Comment removed

  • Disgusting rally

  • Comment removed

  • @worldted

Great, another muppet who thinks that longer rallies = better tennis. This is why the game is in such a mess compared to a decade or two ago.

These guys look like they're hitting on the practice court. I'd call it counterpunching, but there's no punch.

  • Comment removed

  • @worldted Way to miss the point. Long rallies CAN be good tennis. The fact that a rally is long does not make it good, however. In a lot of cases (particularly in modern tennis) it is because the players are being lazy, defensive and hitting very safe and untaxing shots.

Monfils and Simon are hitting like they're warming up for the actual match. It is rubbish tennis.

Of course, people like you just see how long it is and think "ZOMFG they kept the ball in for ages!!!1 they must be soo awesum!1

  • @Caesar1844 Let me give you some much-needed perspective: This rally occured in the seventh point of the first game of the match. An exceptionally long rally, yes, but clearly they were working their way into things. Further, this type of rally was NOT repeated in this match. Monfils is currently #8 in the world, and Simon is #12. I'm sure they're REALLY upset that they don't ALWAYS meet your standards of what modern professional tennis should be. I'm done with you for this lifetime.

  • @worldted Oh, so now they're "working their way into things"? Bit different from your previous clown comment about how it was a brilliant point and amazing tennis. Guess that's why you deleted it.

    Stay failing, brah. ;)

  • @hyassnass

Non, ce point n'est pas à l'image de ce match, il y a aussi eu du tennis d'attaque de temps en temps, des montées au filet etc.

This match was good at times, good attacking tennis and great defense from both.

This point is ONLY 1 point, you can't judge 1 match about a boring point whereas the match was rather hight quality...

  • ce sont que des limers c pas du beau jeu

  • And I thought watching Karolina Wozniacka (POL) was boring.

  • That's a real clay court, as opposed to what they have done at Roland Garros, ruining it by making it so fast.

  • wonder why none of them went to the net

  • Hello JimLosAltos. I suggest you put huge forehand from Monfils's match in Hamburg against Stepanek in the first set at 5-4 40-30 ball set.

  • almost every shot these guys hit went past the service line...and with not so much pace from either guy in this rally, that is extremely hard to do with repetition - just that realization alone made this vid enjoyable for me, although the point itself resembles two ball-machines spewing balls back and forth

  • The beauty of Tennis.

  • These are athlets . But It really looks like a practise point :)

  • monfils, fukin legend!

  • @hazzatoyboy If legend means monkey in your sentence , then you're right .

  • @hazzatoyboy why is he a legend? because he never won an important match? or maybe because he plays one good shot in 5 matches so that people that who see his videos on youtube think that he is a good player?

or maybe because he has a weak body? hm...

  • 2 pushers on slow clay = great way to cure insomnia

  • @hajime2k

Word, what a boring azz rally.

  • @hajime2k Monfils has "pushed" his way up to #7 in the world. Somebody is very jealous.

  • @danthestringerman And Simon pushed his way to #6 in 2009. Simon FINALLY won an ATP 500 event.

Monfils is a virtual automatic choker in finals he plays in. Oh and Monfils gets injured every few months anyway.

  • @hajime2k Not a fan of the ladies are you?

  • @danthestringerman Don't worry. You can have Monfils all to yourself. Just take a number at the counter and wait your turn. LOL

  • @hajime2k

it doesn't mean anything...murray is top 4 since a long time...but still a fuckin pusher

  • @hajime2k

    hate the pushers, screw them!

  • @hajime2k monfis doesn't all ways push, he has the record for the fastest forehand ever hit.

  • @dan72155 That's the good news. The bad news is he's too lazy much of the time. Same problem with Tsonga. All the skill, but only 1/2 the heart.

  • @hajime2k Моnfils pusher? AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA .

  • @MrViksyn

Monfils is more defensive than Simon in his matches.

And both are not pushers, the match was much better than this point.

  • @hajime2k haha yupp worst clay in the world

  • @hajime2k gael monfils is definitly not a push, but simon is i know that! Monfils definitly isnt hes a tee off

  • @hajime2k like u can do that

  • @hajime2k yeah this is what happens when players can't close out the point. Pounce on a shortball and come to net, or open up the court!!! Im getting sleepy watching this in the afternoon!!!!!!!!!
