@stubornbutterflygrl There really isn't anything new with the British ending..it ends after Elizabeth runs out of her father's study.

Where as the American ending we get to see a glimpse into the blissful life of Lizzy and Darcy. (That kiss/ Mrs. Darcy thing leaves me weak in the knees every time.)

It sure does. Apparently there were two endings. In America they had this scene and overseas the film ended when Elizabeth ran out of her father's study when he gave his blessing.

The american ending is a truly adorable scene. Do watch it if you have the chance.

Doesn't the British version just end with Mr Bennett saying he's at his leisure if anyone wants to propose to Kitty or Mary? You don't get that final scene between Lizzie and Darcy. Which is very disappointing as you want to see them together one last time. It spoilt it for me when I saw it at the cinema I haven't seen the American version but I think that's the only difference. Stick with the American version if so anyway!

Yes...the kiss(es) on the bridge at night are in the Amreican version. It may be they thought that the British would not want any messing with their favorite book!:)

Maybe. I think most of us Brits would want to see the kiss at the end. All the other versions end that way.

even though the ending kiss(es) aren't in the book, the 2005 version doesn't follow the book as closely as the 1995 version, so I think it shouldn't really matter, and the ending kiss should go in the British version as well as the American version.
