The name Bulgaria and the original Bulgars were a hunnic turkic people but they had a small population, the native slavic,greek,thracian ect ect absorbed the bulgars and today modern Bulgarias are 99% european, they adopted the name Bulgar and the name of the country but for the most part they are not turks.
Like modern Turkey are mostly Europeans but they adopted Turkic as there language and culture only bekuz the rulers who were in power were turks. But the people are not.

Bulgarians were not a small population and they are not Turkic, (see my post up) Bulgarians populated the lands between Caspian See and Black see and if thats small ... And they did not absorbed anything. Yes they mixed with Slavs and Thraks, but Bulgars were dominating part, Slavs never had countries befor, Thraks were too weak after Romen Empire.

The Bulgars were from Central Asia.
The first Bulgars were Turkic.
The ancient Bulgar language was Turkic.
When they settled in the lands what is today Bulgaria, there were many Slavs and the Bulgars were assimilated, thats why today Bulgarians are slavic and not Turkic anymore like their ancestors.

Contemporary Bulgarians have 16% Slavic DNA my friend. That is way less than the rest of the Slavic countries, except for Macedonia whose population has the same DNA as contemporary Bulgaria.

There is no such thing as ancient Macedonian. Macedonia was one of the GREEK provinces. Hence, the spreading of Greek culture by Alexander the great and the unification of all Greece.
When it comes to Bulgarian DNA, do not worry about it, there are millions that still contain it to this day. I am one of them. ;)

Macedonia existed long before the Greek tribes moved to Balkan peninsula from Asia Minor. Greece never spread to Macedonia except during uccupation. Grab a map. Anyway, today that doesn't matter, Macedonians TODAY speak a dialect of Bulgarian.

Daccians spoke Latin. Bulgarian Moesians spoke Dacco-Moesian. Bulgarian grammar is similar to the Spanish due to the partially Romanized Thracians. Bulg. have thousands of Latin words. Another Thracians spoke a Turkic dialect, etc. There were about 100 tribes in both Europe and Asia.
