we have become so contemporary in our praise that many of us think this is a sad song....i am loving this....this is what I was raised on and its what my children will be raised on...songs like this have such substance!!!!!
This a song that I am learning now. I am 32 years old and from Baltimore MD. My late overseer was from Ridgeway SC we used to travel down there every summer and this is how they sing. Thanks for posting.
As a Chriestian songs like this make me happy about death. When you are save and in chriest we should"n be scare of death. God promised a place for his people.
First let say that I like it, but who else sings like this? It's spirit filled yes. No booty shaking music, makes you think about God and Him only. Put more of these songs on, like Jesus Keep me Near the Cross, What a Friend We Have In Jesus. I am enjoying it all.
I heartily agree with the comments describing the beauty of this music. The hymn choir's simplicity is derived from a complex set of emotions many of us cannot comprehend. The majesty of the music, obviously, comes from life experiences that call us back to a not to distant past. But it also portends a wonderful future rooted in soul deep belief in Jesus Christ and the redemption that one day will be for all of us, Praise God, Praise God!
Man,, I can't beleive some folks say this music is dry and it need to be removed from the church. These old hymns is what brought us. Some of that mess they sing now needs to be removed so we can get back to the old time way. Singing and the spirit of God takes over. No competion just enjoying Jesus... What happen......
beautiful music God's greatest gift to use to speak to God reminds me of the churches of Christ everyone singing from the heart modern churches now exclude members from really enjoying worship
Yes Yes Yes. Where is this kinda church. Talking about going to be with Jesus. Nowadays people don't get happy unless you talking about getting something. I get happy just thinking about one day the struggle will be over and will live with Jesus forever more. That make me shout. Glory.
My granddaddy (Tommie Carter, Jr.- gone home to sing on Gods Heavenly Choir) use to sing this song with the Christian Home Baptist Church Choir many years ago, I was only in high school & the Holy Spirit would move me then. I want thank "hymnchoir" for posting this on youtube for us to continue to enjoy.
I remember listing to your grandfather as a young boy growing up in Gethsemane Baptist Church..Every second sunday in August, Christian home would come to Gethsemane for the revival meeting., and your grandfather would march the choir around singing "Oh Brother, You can't straighten out. Some of the best memories of my life !

This is beautiful.
I am from Mississippi and this reminds me soo much of home. These songs must be retaught and passed on.
These are what has brought our people over. The from the looks of things in America now, we need to be brought over again!
