@idontcare80 Its not a Ford, it wont burst into Flames or even blow up off the freeway because of tires they wont tell you about. Also cant forget about the car ignitions switches that not only killed, but almost got people put in prison for life as a murderer for burning people alive in there car.
@idontcare80 Oh I for got, I had a Pinto once that I drove my friends in (some had baby's) and they trusted me with there lives, I like a (youth)jerk trusted Ford with mine. I did not have a GM,so I cant say much about them, only had Fords in the past. Now what is the real mpg with this Volt, and how are you going to make it so people like me can get one soon?
@DBSpy1 The actual fuel mileage seems to be anywhere in the low-high 30's between city and hwy driving with just the regular engine. Not much considering what other econo cars get. BUT (and I've already done the math) if you drive say around 200 miles/week and charge it every night (its average electric range is around 35 miles from what test mags are getting), you'll use less than a gallon of fuel per week . The mpg range that it can jump up to is HUGE!
. GM just need little time and support to make the Volt work.
GM just need $90000000000000000000000000 billions of dallor and to hire everyone in Haiti to be their Design / Engineer team and give them 99 years to prepare thats all.
GM just need a little bit of Money and little bit of Support and little bit of Time thats all !!
I love it! its looks very chevrolet. has the mean look to it. Alot of people dont get chevy. i didnt when i was younger but now it makes a whole lot of sense. I love the chevy look its a whole tradition thing that people dont get. All people want is a cute little boring cars. for example i once saw a white c6 corvette i thought it was the uglyest thing in the world but then "snap" it all made sense and i thought it was a nice looking car. its something very unique that many cars lack .
GM IS FAIL ON AN EPIC LEVEL!! Check out this excerpt from an article in the Atlantic Council, "First of all, GM is initially only marketing about 10,000 Volts". Only FUCKING 10,000!!! Fuck you GM, I hope you're ugly monstrosity of a company dies a horrible cancerous death!
Well, I'll tell you. "Physically" and "visually" I could give a shit if it, well, looked like a lump of shit. What I DO care about is the hype about this lousy, overpriced, under engineered, purposely dumb downed, pile being called an electric vehicle. They've convinced everyone, even the government of Canada (who is offering a $10,000 rebate if you buy one) that this is indeed a good representation of how new electric cars should be built. Everything about it is a lie and they KNOW IT!
If this vehicle is under engineered than every vehicle on the planet is severely under engineered. The technology in this car has been in the making for over 30 yr's. Toyota took one small step in the right direction 16 yrs ago and then has virtually stopped. Here is some food for thought if every body in the world drove a Prius we would still be consuming more gas today than we did 16 y'rs ago. The volt can reduce consumption by 75% and opens the door to a better future.
Alright, I'll bite once again. So here we go. I'll address each individual statement you made. There are 5 here. 1 - Under engineered vehicles: I agree. Every automobile on the planet is severely and PURPOSELY under engineered. They DESIGN them to FAIL on PURPOSE so you will have to buy new cars, parts, etc. etc. etc. It has been known since the 1960's that the big auto manufacturers could design a car that would easily last 40+ years, but they wont. They're greedy.
2 - 30 years in the making. Actually, viable electric automobiles were engineered and sold in the late 1890's to the early 1910's, they sucked and because gasoline was so much better engineers simply stopped working on them. There have been dozens of other electric vehicle designs scrapped for the same reason and more recently not because gasoline necessarily was better, but more it had better infrastructure. That, and the government makes BILLIONS off of the taxes on gasoline.
3 - Toyota Prius: Electric/gasoline hybrid vehicles are a dead end. The ONLY reason they exist at ALL is because of government and middle east pressure to use gasoline. You don't think that car companies WANT to be selling electric cars. EVERYONE WANTS THEM! They're being held back by giant corporations and corrupt governments. BTW I thought the Prius came out in 1997...maybe you are talking about something else. I dunno.
4 - Volt can reduce consumption: Perhaps. The problem is that these vehicles are not going to sell. They are overpriced, complicated, time consuming to refuel, short ranged and confusing to operate for the average consumer. Have you looked at the guide for driving this thing so it will be the most fuel efficient? Very few of the very few who own one of these things are going to follow the instructions.
5 - Finally, opening the door to a better future: How in the hell do you think this horrible fail of a joke of a slap in the face is opening any doors! Have you even looked, or thought about, or considered or expended one brain cells worth of power into looking at other electric vehicles? No, you obviously haven't. Take for instance Tesla Motors new Model S car due to release right around the same time as the Joke...I mean Volt. $10000 more with a 300 MILE range, can be charged in 40 minutes...
and it's fast, beautiful, spacious and more efficient than any hybrid ever made. How the FUCK do you think this tiny European company can engineer something like that but Chevy can't? Can you answer that question? Please Patoloco1979 explain it, because I'd REALLY like to know the answer.
The Chevy Volt is a joke in every possible meaning of the word. It is a rude atrocity and a disgusting slap in the face to the entire world in general. This is basically Chevrolet calling every single person on this planet stupid, as if we don't, every single one of us see how pathetic this joke is.
Also the tax credit is from the government of Ontario not the Canadian government. You might want to get your facts strait before you critique something you obviously know nothing about.
Last time I checked, Ontario was a part of Canada...maybe something changed while I was asleep. Also, I've been following the Volt since its inception, optimistically excited at first with the design and implementation. It was originally going to be something like the Tesla line, but got re-engineered at least 5 times during its creation into the ABOMINATION that we now see. I don't harsh on this vehicle for something to do, I truly hate what is has become.
Bravo chevrolet

It does look like an Acura TL.
Hopefully it doesn't burst into flames like every other GM.

Did GM change the headlights in the final proto? The ones previously were a lot cooler and futuristic. Needed to save cost possibly...?
