The sad thing about silent hill 2 is that the later you get in the game the more i gives hints about the ending , so about 3/4 of the way done i thought he had killed her but I couldn't believe it either.
I had always enforced the games as art idea, but when I played SH2, nothing else felt like art to me, and I just loved this. You see, art can enfluence someone. I was considering suicide a bit before I started playing it in October 2011, since I had just come to accept that I'm gay. I couldn't see a reason to live. James said, "I was weak. That's why I needed you. I needed someone to punish me for my sins. but that's all over now. I know the truth. Now it's time to end this."

I finished silent hill 2 yesterday, played every silent hill except this one. And this one was the best. The characters were not NPC's but real characters, each one had a personality and it's own "cross". The suicidal, the rejected, the lonely.
After finishing the game i saw the trailer with this music, and I realized that if you took away all the "Silent Hill" thing from the game it would be a really cool movie, but then again, being in silent hill just made it better.
I won't go into a lengthy rant about the decline of modern gaming, or the value of old school story telling, or big name companies killing innovation. All i'm going to say is that Silent Hill 2 is one of my favorite PS2 titles and this theme does a good job or detailing why.
This piece of art. this, this masterpiece, this game is actually, WAYYY better than a lot of crappy horror movies arround, i can really say that this game has the best story in the gaming history.
@raletsi In fact, I've seen tons of horror movies and I can assure you that NONE OF THEM were half as good as this game in any aspect: ambience, characters, storyline or soundtrack (Akira Yamaoka is a fucking genius).

the release for silent hill book of memories is the death date for silent hill, after four the game started dying, then shattered memories was a slight light in the dark, but downpour got it sick again, but at least downpour will be playable.
Damn, man... SH2 is all about the story ! The survival horror's elements are becouse of the media they use to tell it, the game i mean. I love all the drama in it and all the characters that are written so good. Frankly, I think that Angela O. from SH2 is the best created character in video game world ever.

@MetalStorm909 Give 3 some credit, it wrapped up the original story arc of Harry and Cheryl/Heather nicely. I'd say it all went downhill with 4. Homecoming was awful, Shattered Memories was forgettable (minus the soundtrack) and Origins is actually quite decent.

I am actually playing the second one right now, and then i will play four. i have played 1 3 and homecoming and origins. 1 and three were amazing and so is the 2nd one. origins was meh. I really enjoyed homecoming, i dont see what people had against it. first, second and third are great. the fourth one wasnt even designed to be a silent hill game went it was being made, they just decided to make it into a silent hill game. the new on will be good, but not silent hill 1 2 or 3 good
@TaylorMovieCo homecoming was a good game but it didn't compare to original games for starters none of the monsters were in it except the nurses they were the only thing in it other wise big monsters more like dinosaurs and the monster with the sword witch you don't see only for the sword at the beginning as I remember and it's to much of a combat game. if the original team made a new one I would definitely buy it or if this new team could do it like the original but improved I'd be interested

@MetalStorm909 Yes. Silent Hill 3 was excelent in my opinion. I think Silent Hill started to go downhill since the fourth too. Anyway, I am looking forward to buy Silent Hill Homecoming because now I have XBOX 360, I hope I like it.

Silent Hill is the best game in the world. Better than Resident Evil. :D Ive been playin since the first one~ The puzzles are alot better than the puzzles in Resident Evil, and the monsters, and has a more complex story. If you want to start playing Survival Horrors, this is the game.

But since silent hill has been past on to american developers, they have decided to milk every cent they can out of poor silent hill. That's the reason why most of the new silent hill games suck in my opinion.

@TheWarhammerfreak Eh. I don't believe that. It seems every thinks that if a game leans away from originality that the companies are milking it, which isn't true. You have to experiment in the game industry. Silent Hill games aren't as popular as fanboys want them to be, just saying. I love Silent Hill, but one thing more popular is castlevania. Castlevania, in my opinion, was best on n64, but those who like Sega would say otherwise.

@TaylorMovieCo OK why was the new one that came out nowhere near as good and if you think the new one was better than the second one then you haven't played the second one I had this game on PS2 when it came out that year. the new one that is coming out looks awful the monsters are nowhere near as good it looks like the last alone in the dark game you can use chairs to hit the monsters with and the monsters look the same pretty much

I am actually playing the second one right now, and then i will play four. i have played 1 3 and homecoming and origins. 1 and three were amazing and so is the 2nd one. origins was meh. I really enjoyed homecoming, i dont see what people had against it. first, second and third are great. the fourth one wasnt even designed to be a silent hill game went it was being made, they just decided to make it into a silent hill game. the new on will be good, but not silent hill 1 2 or 3 good

@TaylorMovieCo homecoming was a good game but it didn't compare to original games for starters none of the monsters were in it except the nurses they were the only thing in it other wise big monsters more like dinosaurs and the monster with the sword witch you don't see only for the sword at the beginning as I remember and it's to much of a combat game. if the original team made a new one I would definitely buy it or if this new team could do it like the original but improved I'd be interested
