  • Chills.

  • My only beef with the ending credit music is that even on max volume it is hard to hear it

  • "The whole people must take upon themselves the education of the whole people and be willing to bear the expenses of it. There should not be a district on one mile square, without a school in it, not founded by a charitable individual, but maintained at the public expense of the people themselves"

    - John Adams 1785

  • @americajn768 teaching broken and bias history to children is the surest way to create an army of tomorrow towards our brothers on other lands.

  • The buildup in the beginning is mindblowing.

Can you imagine the leap forward into a more free society it was?

    Can we do it again?

Ron Paul for POTUS in 2012.

  • “I must study Politicks and War that my sons may have liberty to study Mathematicks and Philosophy. My sons ought to study Mathematicks and Philosophy, Geography, natural History, Naval Architecture, navigation, Commerce and Agriculture, in order to give their Children a right to study Painting, Poetry, Musick, Architecture, Statuary, Tapestry and Porcelaine.”

  • What music is playing when Adams arrive in France, when he`s in the coach with his son, and later with Franklin on his way to the king - that piece of music on those two occasions, what`s the name of it?

  • what is the name of the music?

  • This music is so beautiful. I get chills every time I hear it. Wish it were longer. Great mini-series, one of my all time favorites.

  • That first twenty four seconds is beautiful I can't believe they didn't put it on the soundtrack.

  • This music is insperational and played by actual instruments from the time peroid!

  • beauitful song but sound soo low turn up the volume next time pls

  • Why isn't this song on the John Adams soundtrack?

  • 1 person hates John Adams

  • One of the best "films" I have ever seen. If you get the chance to watch this mini-series...do it! It doesn't matter whether you are a history buff or not...this story is relatable on all levels. Watch it!!!!

  • @SondheimFanatic1 I agree 100% on your review!

  • Beautiful

  • This song is far more inspirational than our national anthem. I would rather see it be our national anthem than the Star Spangled Banner.

  • @alphacause I have felt that way FOREVER!!!!! I think we should start a petition going around and then send it off to Congress to have a vote :)

  • @alphacause Keep in mind my well-esteemed sir, Francis Scott Key, a young American lawyer who witnessed the battle of Fort McHenry, wrote the poem which became our national anthem. After being bombarded by British rockets, the "broad stripes and bright stars" of the American flag still waved over Fort McHenry. That was when the British withdrew. Next time you hear our national anthem, listen closely to the words and you will hear of a highly emotional moment in US history.

  • @ILuvhThtIHateU I am quite familiar with the history of our national anthem. However, when it comes to melody, this theme from the John Adams mini-series evokes, for me, a greater sense of strength and vitality than Key's The Star-Spangled Banner. Lyrics are another matter. On the subject of lyrics, I think we need to modernize them to make them more relevant to today's era. While they may be inspirational to you, I think many find them too antiquated to resonate in their hearts and minds

  • @alphacause uhh, no.

  • @ILuvhThtIHateU better yet, read the other verses not included ;)

  • Nice intro song.

  • John Adams is my favorite president...

  • what is the name of this song

  • I belive its called "Chester"

  • Comment removed

  • One of the few scores that is able to bring a tear to my eye, especially after the finale.

  • this music is fantastic!!!

  • there would have been no better way to end the series

  • I love the first 25 seconds of this.

  • THANK YOU for posting this! The end theme is grander than that of the opening credits...and you captured it for us. I so appreciate it.

  • I agree!

  • love this music

  • You should have recorded it a little quieter so only finnic foxes and bats could hear it ,LOL

  • A true study of history is an examination of both: What people believed and what people did, because belief leads to action. It is also very important to understand the mindset of historical people. Faith and religion is a very important aspect to a person's mindset. To say "Who Cares" about any aspect of history limits oneself in the very purpose of the study.

  • Makes sense.

  • Who cares what religion they were? Isn't that the point of this nation, that a man is not judged by what he believes but what he does?

  • what i love most about this series is thgat it shows how decadent the french frogs where in the time...

  • The epicness of this tv series, the actors, and the music all pulls you into the real experience of what America really was back then, the highest respects are given to our founding fathers through this series and it should be either a must watch or must read for all -currently reading it-

  • THis soundtrack is amazing let alone the composer! My heart throbs to hear this song. It makes me want to cry for all those patriots that chose to fight with there lives to make are country free! I just hope alot of people hears this song! I feel like i'm actually there watching history happening by the second! I'm so thankful that we had the founding fathers that we did, especially George Washington and John Adams. These people were amazing! I wish i coulhave met them!

  • couldn't agree more bubblepoprock1...i will throw in alexander hamilton and thomas jefferson as well and can never leave ben franklin out either....

  • soo true! :) I luv American History

  • HAMILTON?!?! The guy was a fucking fruitcake, imagine if he had become president...he would have declared war on the brits, invaded canada and the west indies and so on. The US might well have fallen as a result.

Greatest nutjob to almost be president, you were damn lucky...

  • look him up on wikipedia.

  • he sells icecream i think funny boy.

  • The 2nd President of the United States!

  • Your dad, now go learn some history, idiot!

  • shut up idiot, i was just jokin!

anyway, why should i care about American history?

I am not american u bitch!

  • Okay, calm down, just thought you were acting "ditzy" to get attention, sorry!

  • sorry... =)

  • -smiles- glad we're on good terms

  • :D:D

  • LOL X3

  • who should care about Americans cause they knows you ;)

  • what do u mean...?

  • jerk

  • and why am i jerk now?

  • The composer did such an excellent job. You don't even need visuals to know what the music is conveying to you. You can hear the fight inside the music, the struggle, the drums of war... makes me cry every time I hear it.

  • realy?

  • me too

  • i repeat what i said before: this mini-series, while excellent in recreating the look of America in the 1770's, along with the makeup and costumes, had many inaccuracies (John Adams' children were actually younger at the time of the Boston Massacre, etc), but the most glaring innaccuracy was the omission of the fact that John Adams & the majority of the Founding Fathers were Christians.

  • Once again, that wasn't an omission. John Adams was not a Christian, he was a theistic rationalist. He believed in an interventionist God, but like Jefferson, Madison, etc, rejected the divinity of Jesus Christ. Why can't you get that through your head?

  • Thanks for the offer, but you don't meet my standards.

  • ShakespeareHamlet, I'm amazed that people like you really exist.

  • actually they were Christians, but that's beside the point of everything. What they did was more important than what religion they believed.

  • correction, adams, washington, jefferson and franklin were deists.

  • "The Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount contain my religion."

-John Adams in the Nov. 4 1816 letter to Thomas Jefferson

  • We have now, it seems, a national Bible Society, to propagate King James's Bible through all nations. Would it not be better to apply these pious subscriptions to purify Christendom from the corruptions of Christianity than to propagate those corruptions in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America?

John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, Nov 4, 1816.

  • Oh indeed. His notion, was essentially, before spreading the faith, clean out the corruptions made to it by mankind.

But recall, just four paragraphs down he adds:

"Conclude not from all this, that I have renounced the Christian Religion, or that I agree with Dupuis in all his Sentiments. Far from it. I see in every Page, Something to recommend Christianity in its Purity, and Something to discredit its Corruptions."

King James Version is at issue here. The version was in many ways a rewrite.

  • Right, no one is saying Adams rejected the Christian religion, what he rejected was the corruption in it, or the orthodoxy and irrationality that to this day prevails in Christianity. As I said, months ago here, Adams, like Jefferson and Madison were theistic rationalists. Adams viewed religion through reason, and not through the ignorance and superstition that many "Christian Nation" apologists do so today.

  • Bibles were not "written" by kings.

That statement is so academically inaccurate it should be taken out and shot.

  • yes, but do pardon this because I am not an academic.

  • um... constantine?

  • @NyloStar While not written by Kings, they were translated by them. Which is why the one we use today is named after King James. In addition, the Bible we have comes courtesy of the council of Nicea, which edited Christian doctrine to the books we have today.

We can certainly see the influence of many generations of men on the scriptures. In a sense they were written by these men. Can you tell me what was cut from the Bible? If people were right to cut it?

  • @MainiacBrainiac ..Not true at all....King James did commision a Bible based on the Textus Receptus but he had no hand in it's translation...it was translated by dozens of scholars in seperate groups to ensure it's integrity. The preface contains a dedication to the King for supporting the truth founded by the Protestant Reformation. I have some videos on this subject.

  • @NyloStar

    agreed.

Why did they put up with that false belief?

  • Washington, also, was not a Deist. He was Episcopalian who swore the oath of office on the Bible (containing both Old and New Testaments) and added "so help me God", neither of which were called for by the Constitution.

  • rejecting jesus christ... he was a jew then? thats good, i like jews :D :P

  • you're a fucking idiot.

  • lol man, i was just kidding, you need to fucking calm down you twat

  • @wilnerlivesformaiden you should calm down too

  • so what, because of him, we wouldnt have (in my opinion) the best country in the world. He contributed to what we call the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I WILL BE PROUD OF MY FOUNDING FATHERS FOREVER.

  • Its sad actually, that it is only recently that John Adams has finally been given the recognition, credit and respect he deserves. School taught me nothing about this man; only after my own book thumbing did I learn about him and all he did for this nation.

  • The musical 1776 portrays Adams as the hero behind the Declaration of Independance.

  • silly ass musical, but the last half of the film is quite amazing!

  • Thank you, you've restored my faith in humanity.

  • damn right this son of a bitch is stupid. this person is a twisted sociopathic, pro-gay fuckhead.

  • Since when does liberty include the oppression of other minority groups?

  • No, everyone who supports radical right-wing policies is a Conservative despite what gullible internet users believe.

  • That wasn't omitted from the miniseries. What was omitted is your mistake believe that the founding fathers all thought like you do. That is IMO, a good omission.

  • fuck you, asshole. you son of a bitch.

  • Dude every single one of the 204 founding fathers were christians.

  • I don't think they omitted John Adams' Christian beliefs. John and Abagail both pray and refer to God a number of time during the series. They didn't make a big deal about it but they didn't omit it either.

  • What this country needs is the modern-day Thomas Jefferson - Ron Paul. A man with the same convictions and morals as Mr. Adams. We need to restore this great country; Comrade Obama won't be the one to do it because he's just another puppet.

  • 5. Destroying the environment

    6. Stripping women of the right to choose

    7. Supporting and professing anti-Gay, homophobic cultural politics

    8. Allying with the Religious Right and opposing state/church separation

    9. Destroying NPR and PBS and all public programming

    10. Supporting racist immigration policies

    11. Purveying anti-worker policies that suppress union organization

    12. Favoring the abolishment of the minimum wage

  • 13. Redistributing income from the working and middle classes to the wealthy and rich

    14. Allying with Republican hard-liners who want to abolish Social Security

    15. Using earmarks to siphon billions of dollars to his district

    Yeah, he's really progressive.

Go back to being mad that they didn't make a big enough deal about the Founding Fathers' supposed Christian ideals.

  • The men who fought in the American Revolution were beyond brave. I can't even imagine how they mustered up the courage to do what they did; to defy the odds at all cost and to give this country the freedom it deserved.

This is one of my favorite books and miniseries of all time. Both are so rich and full of the colorful history of the colonial time period. I love it!

    *end of little rant =]*

  • I KNEW IT!!!! This is running on More4 in the UK, and I had a feeling they were speeding up the end credits on every episode... and I was right! Thanks!

  • god i love that shit

  • Only 2 themes can rival this one in their epic'ness, the Halo Chore from the Halo games and the Space Marine theme from Dawn of War. Coming close would be Hell March and the Warcraft theme.

  • I guess you've never spend any time outside of video games- you should check out trevor rabin

  • Its true that I'm into video games a lot. only recently I've found a love for actual culture and good music. Will do, thanks for the tip.

  • yep, hans zimmer is also good

  • The militants of the time continued to exist after the revolution to this day, and until about 1812 they were the soul defense of the United States on land. After the war of 1812 we begin maintaining an officer core of a regular army due to the infighting in 1812 leading to a collapse of American defenses. The modern descendents of the militants are the State National guard of the 50 different states + our populated territories. Their function continues to be dual.

  • This song makes you think of the militia from that time period that we need again today!!!!!

  • Vive le Québec libre!

  • This theme makes you want to join the army or something like that, I wish my life had a soundtrack and it was this song.....hee....

  • epic.

  • I for some reason get addicted to theme songs!!!! And this one is no exception!!!!!! Some include "The Good the Bad and the Ugly, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Sherlock Holmes series, Horatio Hornblower series, and many others. The movie doesn't have to be good itself but the themes are amazing!!!

  • i loved the program it deserves all 23 emmy's. and a 24 for best theme song.

  • I never thought that buying my dad a fathers day present would make me want to steal it from him XD I've been searching for the soundtrack since I watched the series with my dad. I really want my band director to have us play this music, it's amazing!

  • i wabt this to play with my band!!! lol

  • Never forget the steps that patriots like John Adams took to preserve our liberty. If America doesn't wake up soon, everything our Founding Fathers lived and died for will crumble into dust. The political system is a joke, and frauds and liars run amok while good men are blacklisted by the media that controls the country. Mr. Adams truly must be repenting in Heaven, since we have squandered the freedom which he fought and died to give us.

  • Is it yet time for another violent revolution?

  • I loved this show so much, and the music was the thing that got me into it. Great show

  • The only thing bad about the book is that it did not have the beautiful soundtrack that the miniseries had.

  • This was a great series. My wife and I had read the book and listened to it on tape and knew that it would make a great movie. And the music is wonderful and inspiring, gives me chills.

  • Tom Hanks, Paul Giamatti, Laura Linney, and the rest of the cast and crew are to commended for this great series, the songwriter of theme and I assume the ending credits hit a grand slam with this!

  • *sniff* i love this song too bad it goes off on demand sunday 5/18/08

  • Never forget

  • That's why I bought the whole series on DVD.

  • song gives me goosebumps

  • LOVED IT

  • This was a great miniseries. I always watched it on Sundays at Nine. Great band song to play.

  • A great song for a great series. I made sure to watch every showing of it.

  • TOM HANKS .. your a Genius

  • There very few sounds tracks I admire ..

This goes Up there with the Carnival soundtrack .. the generals daughter sound track.

WoW I get Goosebumps hearing this outro

the drummers precision stands out to me around 2:16 on out I feel glorious when that part blares threw my surround sound.

    a wicked composition!

  • Great soundtrack

  • An excellent portrayal of our founding fathers' struggles for independence.

    A powerful soundtrack

  • One of the best scores I've ever heard.

  • and for a show!!!! it just blows my mind how good this show really is...remember the scenes in England? or the congress meeting when they were discussing independence? how about the sea voyage? excellent quality and very very moving indeed. loved it.

  • this should win soundtrack of the year or whatever award they give out in that category amazing soundtrack.

  • Great music, great show.
