@whyousofat I may be wrong, but Ill try to explain it. Since sentence structure of Japanese sentences are so poor, it is hard to understand what the adjective is describing. Having noun adjectives will help you know that it is describing the noun, instead of another word or verb.
um in one of the exercises it says kore wa watashi no kirei na shatsu to kimono desu. and you said the translation is this is my clean undershirt and kimono but don't you mean this is my beautiful or pretty undershirt and kimono because kirei mean beautiful right?
@killawind1287 "sore" stars with "s", while "this" ends with "s". "this" - "sore", "thisore". Got it? Fine. Now FORGET IT, because "that" is "sore", and "this" is "kore". :-)
@ArturoStojanoff wait!!! it's kitanai all together, actually it's lesson's thirteen thing nai it's so confusing the hyphens!!!!!! (don't read these comments)

why can't you ever pronounce the word inflection/inflexion? Do you have a learning disability of some kind? Also by your Mein Kamf "joke", are we to assume that your lessons are for racists only?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You're the one talking about "Mein Kamf". Try to focus sweetie. Do you even know what that book is? Do you know what it stands for? If so agreeing with it would make you a racist. Understand the connection here?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
If you didn't mean anything by it, then I appreciate your apology. I don't want to argue with you.
Its just worrisome, here I am going through your japanese lessons, that I was really enjoying at some point by the way, listening to your voice and all I keep thinking now is, "is this girl some kind of nazi sympathizer"? Does she have some weird fascination with ww2 and the japanese? Its a silly "joke" to make and I'm sure it offends a lot of people.
I see I see. When I read your comment I assumed this was just someone flaming me trying to pick a fight as well, which is also worrisome. I say alot of jokes in poor taste just to get laughs and to get people to pay attention. This is the first anyone seemed bothered by this joke, I was about to rewatch this video [I made it a long time ago so I didn't remember all I said] just to be sure it didn't sound realistic.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I want to say one last thing on this before closing this issue. There are many comments on this video that refer to your joke in what seems like a positive light. And there are many responses from you that seem like acknowledgments of this. It is easy to misread your tone. I want to remind you that this is a public forum and hate speech is not tolerated by the youtube terms of service.
@samruby82 and MRTracer50: you didn't get it did u, and u didn't listen. The way she said the "precious" book sentence it was obvious that she meant the exact opposite of it being precious and if u watched the other lessons (as u said u did) u should have figured that out b4 schoolmastering others.
If I wanted to say "you are pretty" would I say "anata wa kirei na desu"? Or would I say something like "Kirei na anata wa de su"? does the "na" always have to be paired with the "kirei"?
I think you would use the persons name and just say something like "Yuuka-chan, kawaii desu" or even omit "desu", if it's not a very formal situation, which I assume it wouldn't really be. if you wanna use "kirei" then same thing "Yuuka-chan, kirei desu", you don't have to put "na" in there.
There are plenty of other places to go and find/learn/memorize the Japanese alphabets. (hiragano to katakana --- It takes a bit of time, but not too imposible. :) ) Otherwise the point of these videos and exercises are to show the usage and function of the Japanese grammer for the most part.
something is wrong, you have to connect two adjectives together, like ookii ta (or da I CANT REMEMBER BECAUSE ITS BEEN 1 YEAR SINCE MY JAP 2 CLASS LMAO) back to what Im saying ookii ta kirei right? you don't just put it next to each other?
thanks for the videos. really helpful. but i dont get it: why do u say(ookii kirei-na hoteru) with one -na, and (taira-na kirei-na hako) with two -na? (im sorry in case i double posted)
lol Idk. Im just learning myself. I guess its just one of those things where you have no choice but to memorize it. like how english has words that sound like other words but with different meaning....I do know this though..usually when the adjective ends in 'n' its followed by 'na' (ex: hen na hito or 'strange person' or kiken na basho or 'dangerous place') I guess kirei is a special case :D
u always pack something into these lesson that make 'em even funnier than the last one, or im just gettin a bit tired from watchin your videos in a chain:)

orangemiss 3 years ago
with "ari masen ka", it means "is not?" or along the lines. "desu ne" means "is", but it expects the answer of the other person to agree with them.
ie "soo desu ka" = "is that so? (expecting the answer to be yes)"

I really enjoy your lessons, thank you. Do you live or have you lived in Japan?

I`ve lived here for about a year now. Since your Japanese is pretty good you should live here for a while, you`ll get a lot out of being able to converse in Japanese. Just a thought.
