Love this video. The musical community is filled with pretentious know-nothings who couldn't tell a longitudinal wave from a lawn chair. Going to be delicious to see their reaction in a few years when instruments made of advanced materials sound better than their fifty thousand dollar dead trees while costing less than a laptop.
I'm not going to lie you to and say that was played perfectly...but you managed to squeeze enough feeling into it to give me chills, and I've heard that song a thousand times before.
People getting jealous of you is ridiculous. Coveting your abilities, looking at your blessing not knowing you had to go through HELL, and HARD WORK to stand in the position you are in now in music and how you can play it. They don't see the agony nor the patience, all you went through. God Bless you.
wow. i love your violin. it produces a fantastic open/loud sound unlike my viola and its chess like outer "shell" (for lack of a better word) intrigues me. :)
@Thecrazyeditor -- music has always brought out passion and emotion, good or bad, thats just part of the creative process. just as experimentation in instrument design and construction has been part of the creative process and the evolution of music.
@Rooftopaccessorizer -- Mr Rochon has been so kind in letting me and my brother try these fantastic violins here on our Eboyinc channel...they're definately for real...remarkable violins for sure!
So because it's made out of this material, does that mean that the player can play in any weather condition fearless of damage to their instrument? I mean, a good advertisement would be, say... somebody playing this violin at the top of Mount McKinley and then showing up in the major Anchorage music hall "6 hours later" playing the same violin to a packed, applauding house. THAT would be an ad!
@1JesseW It is also made from Carbon Fiber. I have had a number of requests to make fingerboards for all kinds of instruments because the quality of Ebony has declined over the years.
@ydabom This violin was played in Chicago outside in Febuary at -7 degrees F and walked straight in to a shop (still playing) at 78 F. No noticable change in sound. Check out my "durability test" video.
Graphite and poly resin guitars and basses have a specific sound. (Who remembers the Steinberger from the 80's?) In person, they're clear and loud, but a bit "cold." I'd bet a carbon fiber fingerboard on a wood violin would sound very nice.
@RustyNex -- perhaps the maker of this amazing violin will add his comments here, but from our viewpoint, there are a few advantages. violins are prone to cracking, like any think piece of wood...from heat, humidity (or lack of...), pressure, etc...and think wood is fragile. the wood needs to be varnished and the elements wear on the varnish as well. if you do outdoor gigs, rain, cold temps are a problem. also, violinmakers throughout history have experimented with material and design :)
@eboyinc thanks for the reply, that makes sense, though i feel carbon fibre is very expensive, maybe simple fibreglass, or plastic. carbon fibre is awesome, and maybe there is something to do with how well it holds its shape plus how thin it is, makes a good reverberation box, i dunno, but i think either way, carbon fibre has to be the most expensive thing they could have used.
@RustyNex Yes. There's also something called "Ebonol" which is the material used for bowling balls! It's very smooth, hard, bright and will not warp. And it's dirt cheap.
@plangentmusic to be honest, with a combination of horrible speakers, a bad ear for fine details, and no wooden violin to compare to, it just sounds like a normal violin to me, which is why i thought it was a bit excessive to make it out of carbon fibre.
@plangentmusic fiberglass is light weigh and break resistant. good for finger board and chin rest, may be for pegs too. but may be it shrinks at low temperature, and expend at hot temperature.
@joosangbai Actually, fiberglass is less susceptible to temperature change than wood. Graphite guitars and basses are known for rarely needing adjustments and stay in tune much longer than standard wood instruments. Again, the sound coming from the body and the feel of the back of the neck are two things a lot of people can't get used to.
@Khari99 -- thanks for checking out our videos. most of the violins that we play here on eboyinc are from an estate violin collection. occasionally we are sent violins from violinmakers (like this fantastic carbon fiber instrument) to try out :)
@bigsis314 -- hi, most of the violins that we sample here on eboyinc are from an estate violin collection. we occasionally are sent violins from violinmakers (like this fantastic carbon fiber instrument) to try out :)
@violinlord I believe your mistaking it's material with Kevlar, known for bullet proof vests?... The violin is made out of carbon fiber known mostly for producing lightweight yet stiff sport gear or performance vehicle parts... 2 totally different and unrelated materials, so please don't ever try to stop a bullet with carbon fiber! lol
Temperature fluctuations and humidity that would ruin a traditional, wooden, acoustic instrument won't phase carbon fiber and graphite. And if it sounds as good live as it does through a low quality, built-in, camera microphone then I would think that more professionals would be using them than they are. Perhaps there are some prejudices against it because of tradition and the ear being used to a certain sound. Considering the inconsistencies inherent with wood, perhaps we should look elsewhere.
@bagitaxitax -- hola, el precio de estos violines es muy razonable. el stuart rochon del contrato directamente y seran su placer de discutirlo con usted. su website se enumera en el descripcion (rochonviolins(dot)com).
