Yeah, these happen to be very bad performances. The main problem is that he's playing inappropriate transpositions, and that he appears to be somewhat less than well-prepared. He should have determined his comfortable vocal range and adjusted the songs accordingly. His main bag has always been writing 'em, though, not singing 'em. He's a really nice guy, and his songs are good, so we should forgive him.

Yes, I agree to a point. J.D. is not 25 years old anymore. All he has is two mics, no mixing or effects, a buzzing guitar on the C-chord. Stripped down performance. He sounds like he would rather be singing harmony. His work stands on it's own. Here it is folks, This is not a full band performance.

It was a dream: coming from San Sebastian (Spain) and I end up meeting him at rehearsals: he was just nice and simple, and a lot of fun. So I took a step forward and ask for an impossible: "Would you please play "Baby Come Home"? "Sure", was the answer. "Home By Dawn" was the first J.D. record I bought when it came out in ´84: had to cross the border to St Jean de Luz (Tilbury was the record store) to buy it... I was 13... Peace&Love for all

Unfortunately, the new album (announced for March 08) is still not out - the 4-track teaser EP 'Possible Weather' has a very jazzy appeal to it, and is - like this show - just plain gorgeous. yep, that's JD. He got rid of the scraggly hair and the moustache and beard a long time ago - at least around the time his pals axed Don Felder from their band. Felder recounts being surprised at Souther's appearance at the last Frey B'Day he attended.

Go Ahead And Rain got my attention back in 1984 and I can say I love almost all of his songs! More footage of this concert would be appreciated. Black and White is just fine.

So glad I didn't let you down (laughter)...I'm gonna wake up (and get) on my e-mail and here I'm gonna be...a knarled caricature of myself trying to tune my guitar!" He is very funny.

Hi, MJ. How did you FIND this? It's really only here so that JD's record company and PR people can look at the problem we had with the lighting that night: I've done everything I can think of to get rid of the constant flicker, which seriously mars some otherwise superb footage. (THAT's why it's in black & white, by the way. Unfortunately, even this didn't get rid of the flickering... dammit.)
