its so ironic. i randomly found this episode in time for the holidays and low and behold the first number has gingerbread men! what are the odds of that? lol
Okay Floyd was funny. But to be honest I could never understand what in the world he was saying....oh wait do you mean Floyd the puppet or Floyd the Barber. Either way I still can't understand a word there saying.
Gosh I miss Don Knotts...he was a comedy genius. It's so sad he died. Oh well he still lives in the hearts of millions for all who continues to get enjoyment from his show for all of eternity. Anyone agree with me?
@trailmixgang Yes. It takes great talent to be 'second banana' and still keep it fresh and funny. He started out as the straight guy to Andy Griffith's not so bright sheriff. It was funnier the other way. He never got an emmy! Never. I think that there were numerous episodes of several of his shows which should have snagged him an emmy. I love the one where he is singing and the man with the wonderful voice comes on and he thinks it is him. He was perfect with Tim Conway. Love your comment.
@AleeraGorvan Nearly all of the muppet puppets (try saying that with a mouthful of bread) have been replaced/updated many times, Kermit has been updated about 9 times I think...
@daleastar Only because people don't let them. Take a look at Japan for example. Overpopulated, and a higher percentage of crime compared to the US. Yet, children, and teens are allowed to travel on their own...taking the subway, or walking great distances with no adult supervision, and the children and teens rarely encounter any real trouble. Hell, they can legally live on their own at 16. So, what does that tell you about the media, and the fears they play off of here in America?
unfortunatly the classics and when there is something good it gets taken off the air (megasXLR) because it has "extreme violence" or "send a bad message to the young viewers" "there's a family guy quote about parents taking responsibility for what their kids watch instead of blaiming the show itself"
@tehreporter i sure have. Saddly, my lil'-sister makes me watch them. I swear to God, it feels like my brain turns into porridge that's a billion years old.
@billythekid071 Um it was a joke i was just having fun with it i know that. And no am not a Youngster am nearly 20. Sorry bouit that but it just started as a joke did you not see the LOL?
YES! Wasn't this show AMAZING! And to think; it aired in PRIME TIME! My, how times have changed! Nowadays, T.V. is full of sex, violence, and drama. I long for these simpler times!
Ah yes.... I miss my youth. Now there's so much crap on tv, you have to have DVR or something to fastforward all the useless shit. Otherwise, it ruins the whole experience of paying buttloads of money just to have cable!
That green and pink wheel leg creature is addicting and drives me crazy! I like it so much I had this episode once on tape and I watched that one segment so much as a kid my parents went nuts and I snapped the tape in the VCR!!!
Statler said "Did you see the opening number?" and then he talks about the 2nd number, the first number was the Gingerbread skit. I wonder if the Gingerbread Skit was supposed to be later in the episode.
First I thought Disney was a bad holder of the Muppets. But later, when I was surprised that the Season 2 DVD was a COMPLETE season set, I thought MAYBE Disney isn't so bad with the Muppets after all. Guess Disney really isn't that bad after all.
I was born in 1968 and remember the 70's completely. I was a teen in the 80's, and it was "ok"... but the 70's: just imagine the feel of The Muppet Show in every song, every show, every movie... and everybody cool and getting along. That was the Seventies. You guys missed one hell of an era. You're lucky because you don't realize how far things have come and how drastically for the negative they changed.
Everyone probably remembers their pre-adolescent years with some nostalgia. I remember a time before atari. I've also seen the world change drasticaly from what I knew as a child. But then I grew up in a small town in Wyoming. We never locked ANY doors, and my mom never worried about me getting kidnapped and raped. All I had to do was be home in time for dinner.
@DrJuliusStrangepork The most interesting thing is...the only reason people worry about kidnappings and such so much is media sensationalism. They over-dramatize kidnappings as if every child in America gets abducted at least 5 times a week. But the truth is, America is safer now than it was in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Fewer kids get abducted now, than they did when my mom and dad walked 20 miles by themselves as kids. But the media wants us to think otherwise.
I was born in 1990 myself. The 90s were nice, good shows (on KidsWB, Cartoon Network, Disney, Nickelodeon, and PBS), I lived in a house during most of the 90s (hate apartments), my dad worked on Space Jam, and there were those trips my parents and I used to take (mostly to Montreal, and once to Great Britain). However the decade I really want to live through is the 1950s, that's my favorite one. I also like the rest of the 20s-70s, especially the movies, cartoons, and TV shows.

raposofan 4 years ago
@DrJuliusStrangepork The most interesting thing is...the only reason people worry about kidnappings and such so much is media sensationalism. They over-dramatize kidnappings as if every child in America gets abducted at least 5 times a week. But the truth is, America is safer now than it was in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. Fewer kids get abducted now, than they did when my mom and dad walked 20 miles by themselves as kids. But the media wants us to think otherwise.
