Actually its a common misconception that alfa's break down alot. They are in fact very well engineered and reliable machines, they just need well looking after. I've had my 156 for years and nothing has even gone wrong.
absolutely true... my 1998 alfa 156 (well, now my father drives it, i have an alfa GT) had just 1 (ONE) trivial problem in almost 10 years (the shift lever broke down 4 months ago), but no real mechanical trouble. they're great cars, don't trust who say they're fragile, 'cause it's just propaganda... maybe they're trying to sell you an audi!
@dh3im the shift lever broke to me too a few time ago on my 145 xD i guess its just because they are so awesome at the limit they make u drive fast....its not the cars fault hahah to be honest my alfa feels alot better when its driven harder...at low revs it feels like its "complaining"
when you drive this car how you should drive an alfa then you will never have a problem !
